Delicious food, good prices and excellent service. Will definitely return soon! The sharing dish was very good and thoroughly recommend it. Staff were attentive without being intrusive.
Had read some reviews about poor service. Although we may have been fortunate that on the Sunday evening we visited it was very quiet, service was very good. We ordered the Aegean sharers. There were a couple of dishes we would have liked that weren't available but those we got were very good. Only issue was there was too much, though we made a good effort trying to eat everything! All dishes were very good.
We took our 3 children (10, 6 and 6). The food was delicous, the staff very nice and made us feel welcome. We'll be back!
Staff extremely helpful and really nice. Food really good and enough to eat. I would just say seeing it was November it was extremely cold in the restaurant and could have been a bit warmer.
Friendly helpful staff. Service at just the right pace. Food very authentic and reminded me of holidays in Greece. Menu clear in describing things well. We will be back.
Very disappointed with the food and not very hot. The only good thing was the wine. My first taste of Greek cuisine, plan to stick to Italian.
Booked on Saturday evening for 6.30. On arrival were told that the moussaka and baclava would not be ready for at least another 11/2 hours. The restaurant was freezing cold because the heating was not operational. The lone waitress was doing her best but could not help the long wait for our order to arrive at table and when it did the food was nothing special. We were very disappointed - had been looking forward to tasting Greek food again and it was a tremendous let down
Restaurant decor and music lovely. Server was very polite. Starters were excellent. Main meal was a big disappointment. We ordered a pork and a chicken souvilaki. We expected souvlaki, pita bread and a smallGreek salad. We received overcooked dry pork/chicken...could hardly chew it. Chips/French fries and a few pieces of shredded lettuce...no salad dressing. Since when are chips/French fries Greek??? Would come back for starters, but don't think I'd recommend the main to any of my friends.
Very mediocre food, poorly presented, everything served with chips, chicken gyros and souvlaki so dry they seemed to be reheats rather than fresh cooked. Starters very poor, mixed dish of hummus, tsaziki and fava dolloped into ramekin, no presentation or garnish- no olive oil in sight, pitta shop bought and cold. A tourist trap rather than an aithentic restaurant. Avoid.
The food was good, wine tasty, everything looks like home made. The souces tasty and pita too. It's really worth to visit the place .
Good tasty food for good value for money- Good friendly service - A great place for a Greek night out in Edinburgh - Well recommended.
The food as always was very good quality, the feta chilli dip is particularly good, the service was friendly and the staff are always happy to help
Food was ok and staff were friendly enough. However, they had things on the menu that weren't available, i.e. fruit juice on the kids menu. the only offering for children was fizzy drinks. I also asked for a vegetable instead of salad for my daughter and was told there wasn't any! Since change in ownership the prices have gone up too. Overall. a far nicer dining experience under old ownership.
The starters & wine were really nice - warm pitta and dip with mixed olives & feta. The best part about the main course was the chips. The marinated meat was tasteless and accompanied by tinned tomatoes. Prawns in the Saganaki were still partially in their shells. Service was very poor - seemed to be only one waiter for the whole place. Had to ask for table to be cleared and repeatedly asked for our bill but he kept serving other people.
This was our first visit here. We went for a meal before going to the King's Theatre. This worked well. The meal was fine apart from the meat in our souvlaki being burnt on the outside. However we would go back.
The food and menu choices were good but the service was slow. We booked for pretheatre and mentioned a few times we were on a tight timescale. Even once the food arrived I had to ask twice before I got a fork. The bill was incorrect and had to be amended We were not asked if we wanted more drinks. There only appeared to be one waiter working so appreciated he was doing his best but I am afraid it was not good enough
service was fine, food was disgusting. Starter of pita and dips - dips were nice but pitta was cold and not very apetising. main of mousaka was awful, tasteless and dry. Salad was wilted and chips were burnt and not nice at all. I complained about the chips and was told they were meant to be like that as they were a 'darker greek potato' and thats how they are cooked in greece. Ive been to greece a few times and never had chips like those before... also the table next to me had the same dish and their chips looked alot more edible than mine did..... Wont be coming back!
We were very disappointed in our experience. We have eaten at My Big Fat Greek Kitchen on a number of occasions and found the food, service and value for money excellent, however, on Saturday there was only one waiter for most of the evening. He was very good, courteous and helpful but clearly more staff were required. The one waiter coped admirably with such pressure and was unflappable but it was very unfair to expect him to cope with a busy restaurant. We had a long wait to be served. We ordered two sharing platters at 29.50 for starters to find that they contained very little and then had to order more. We again ordered more food on an ongoing basis as the evening progressed, to ensure everyone had enough to eat, which resulted in a very expensive evening out! While we happily entertained friends there in the past, we would hesitate to do so in future. We had invited a friend along on Saturday and were embarrassed by her experience.
The waiter gave us menus to look at, no point as there were almost no mains available. I guess he was just hoping we would choose the one only dish they had, so after a pointless charade of us choosing dishes and the waiter revealing one by one that each dish was not available, we had to choose the same dish that was not my first, second, third or even fourth choice. We should have left at this point - the food was not even that great. Used to be a good restaurant, they seem to be under new management...
very relaxed and laid back atmosphere with wonderful food and wonderful service. Have recommended this restaurant to many friends here in the Kingdom of Fife.
Food was lovely, love Greek food, quick service and good prices, enjoyed a night without the kids for my birthday . Will be back again
Waiter working hard but rushing about which made the experience anything but relaxed. Kitchen seemed to have a 30 minute break with no food being prepared. One dish completely forgotten after being given a reminder. Starters took 70 minutes to be served. Food ok/good. Last time I was here it was a lot better experience.
Sorry but I would not recommend the restaurant, don't get me wrong the service was good but the food was mediocre and unseasoned, I've made similar at home with better results.
Lovely cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, beautiful pictures of Greece (love the Santorini canvas!) and most important of all, delicious food and very generous portions! Will certainly be back!!
Stop questioning your choice and just go here, it is brilliant! A little pricey, but who cares, huge portions and delicious. Plus, they always have chilled retsina! It gets busy too so reservations help!
Quite authentic Greek cooking although the waiter was a charming attentive Pole. Tzaitki was very moreish. Have eaten here before and will do so again
The falafel was awful, the stuffed peppers pedestrian, and the flavorful starters like lemon chicken and cheese balls were minute. The hummus was bland and of a very odd texture. The best dish was the pork souvlaki, which just began to approach the level I expected from a restaurant so highly regarded.
it appears that this restaurant has changed ownership and it has gone from a fantastic restaurant to one that has poor quality food, disappointing service and is trading on the previous owners friendly and high standards. I will not be recommending this to any friends.
Unfortunately the wrong first course arrived, then the main course, stuffed peppers, was very disappointing, not at all like they would be in Greece as they were lacking in flavour (no herbs) and very salty. The peppers were barely cooked and when I asked for them to be made soft, they were removed but upon return, they were still crunchy. Sad that this erstwhile busy restaurant was quite quiet on a Saturday night during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Excellent food and excellent staff. I normally don't eat dessert (unless it has chocolate in it / over it / both). However, the Greek orange cake (Portokalopita) was superb. I will be back the next time I am in Edinburgh.
Could not have asked for better service, food, ambience and wine. The food was hot and service with a smile. Will definitely be back to this very nice restaurant.
Good food, good service and a typical Greek welcome what more can you ask for. restaurant is quite small which gives it a nicer atmosphere than in most barn like restaurants
The food and wine were excellent as well as the service and atmosphere of the place. Three of us went for the pre-theatre menu and shared the starters and main courses between us: good fun and good value for money too. Finished with a baklava each, delicious.
Food was excellent - honeyed feta starter takes me straight to my favourite Greek island, and my husband had the Greek sausage and same effect! Staff have a lovely manner, very friendly and accommodating despite being rushed off their feet. Just wish we had the weather in Scotland to match Greece - but never mind, Kali Oriksy!
Four of us had a very good meal with some delicious and original dishes - rather better than many restaurants in Greece! The one problem was slow service when we needed to get to the cinema. Not the fault of the one very nice but overworked waitress.
Excellent Greek food Really enjoyed the grilled halloumi and the whitebait. The pork gyros were also delicious (and the chips were magic). Great, friendly service.
The food was delish, would recommend to other people, the service was good and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, I would go back there again.
Lovely fresh food and very welcoming staff. We choose 2 courses from the pre-theatre menu, and with a glass of nice wine it was £20 each
We had starter and main each and we can say that it was very tasty food and very nice service. The yogurt was great! We just missed more veggie choices as a main (just one option). We would recommend it with no doubt!
Though there was little sign of Greek staff, there was good service, good food and a nicely full restaurant. It was a little chilly at first, but after I requested the heating, it was soon sorted.
The food was lovelily, including the best chips I have had in a while too. The service was friendly. Overall it is well worth a visit.
We enjoyed very good service and an excellent, freshly prepared meal at this traditional Greek restaurant. We will definitely return. The portions were substantial and of very good quality.
