Lovely quirky place, fab and wine & food. Will go again
We did arrive 5 minutes late, but then had to wait 30 minutes for empty tables to be cleaned. It looks like a nice place, but the wait was a bit too long. The food was a little dear, in terms of the pricing, but it tasted really good, and arrived relatively quickly, after we'd ordered. If I had to rate it solely on the food, it'd be higher. But due to the long wait, I have to mark it down, a little. I would still recommend the place, overall.
Great food at affordable prices. Service was amazing as always!
Great service great food amazing ambience Lovely friendly staff excellent
Excellent service amazing Food. Unbelievably friendly and helpful Staff 😁
A lovely lunch. 7 in our group. Food all came together, no errors. Servers 1st day. She was brilliant.
The staff we generally friendly and attentive. The interior is a bit of fun. The food mediocre. Our main complaint is that we were sat by an open door to the covered outside area. It was a very cold day and despite asking around 5-6 times if they could shut the door, which they sometimes did, the next member of staff would go through and leave it open. We were very cold and this was very frustrating. When we asked to be moved to another table, which was empty, we had a cold and surly response and we not allowed to move. Which just isn’t good enough in my opinion. I wouldn’t recommend it here.
Took far too long to be seated, chaotic staff and drinks didn’t arrive as requested.
Not particularly impressed with the food. Cuisine was very basis and not really italian.
Lovely food but venue very cold, even though we were inside. Would have stayed for coffee/dessert if it hadn't been so cold. Went to a coffee shop round the corner instead!
This was our first visit and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. A bonus to the evening was Magic Armit who was great fun. We will definitely be returning to the Merchants of Venice
Very nice restaurant, great food and service. Would recommend it
First time visiting but will not be our last. Great atmosphere loved the table magician! Food was good and plentiful. The service was excellent with attentive, friendly staff especially Risika.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. An enjoyable meal out .
Really amazing as always loved the place see you next time
Really lovely food at very reasonable price (less than £50 for two of us, for a starter and two mains, plus some drinks) Timed it on a night with a trumpet player who added wonderful atmosphere and chatted to us throughout the night
Love this restaurant! My favourite Italian! Definitely going back as they have amazing food and the staff are really friendly.
Lovely place, lovely staff and amazing food all for a very reasonably amount.
Great service. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Value for money
Not the fault of the restaurant, our food was fantastic, but I accidentally knocked a bottle of wine over trying to open one of the new snack items we ordered as a nibble pre dinner. These really should be opened before serving. The wine splashed the coat of the person on the table next to us and I feel mortified as a result. Very embarrassing and I wanted to leave immediately. I, of course, offered to pay for any dry cleaning and the person was truly wonderful about the incident. I however remained full of remorse which in turn ruined my wife’s evening too as I was very upset.
Been before and the meal was once again really good. Can’t fault the service and the atmosphere was lovely and festive.
Dined here 4 times and never had anything but excellent food and service. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants. Highly recommend
Service was incredibly slow, which actually spoilt our lunch, to the extent one member of the part had to leave before the mains arrived.
We have been before and enjoyed it. Our experience this time was as good as previously. We had a quiet table, as requested. The food was tasty, well presented and served nice and hot on warmed plates. Lovely rose wine served just at the right temperature. We never felt rushed at any point. Our servers were polite and pleasant although a little slow at times but we forgive this as we had such a good time.
Four of us had lunch here, the food was lovely and the service was excellent. I would definitely return.
The restaurant felt very cold and draughty. The Lasagne was unusual with no Cheese. Staff were lovely.
Mostly excellent all round apart from the service being a little slow as we had been seated for a good 20 minutes before we had to ask for a drink. Staff were very friendly though and food was good. Overall a very nice dining experience
Good very average. Frozen and salad without dressings. Wouldn’t go again
Very attentive service, friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices
Wonderful friendly, attentive and professional service. Great food in cosy surroundings- do try it, you won’t be disappointed ❤️
All good. The room temperature (upstairs) was very hot when we arrived) but the staff were accommodating and turned it down to our needs.
We all had a fabulous evening with delicious food. Thank you
Great staff and amazing food even on a busy Saturday night.
The food was amazing but the service wasn't great. Felt rushed
Well worth the wait for proper tasty fresh food .
Fantastic food & drink from an a.azing menu. Staff very friendly and ensured our evening was great.
Amazing food, fabulous atmosphere and wonderful attentive staff highly recommended
We were really pleased to see how busy the restaurant was but unfortunately our booked table was still in use so we were seated upstairs next to a large, noisy group. Service was slow but the food was good, particularly the prawn pasta. We we I’ll try again but they need to consider how many covers they can cope with.
Food was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant was busy had a great vibe.
Lovely atmosphere and entertainment included with a magician and trumpet player
Amazing restaurant. Went for my boyfriend’s birthday and had such a good time. There was live saxophone, an in house magician and the food was delicious.
Great food and the majic guy was excellent, enjoyed the atmosphere
Very delicious food and Cocktails. Amazing place and friendly staff
Just WOW! From the smiling greeting by the manager, to the attentive waitress's. Having a magician entertain us whilst we had a lovely glass of wine and decided what to order from the menu. The finale was the food, the fish was exquisite and so were the prawn and chicken pasta dishes. My daughter was blown away and this is now her new favourite place. Thank you Merchant of Venice for a spectacular dining experience
Perfect from start to finish, attentive staff, beautiful decor and excellent food. Can't wait to visit again!
The food was cooked fine , my choice was not as good asI thought it would be, try some thing different next time.
There was live music on Friday and Saturday night. Fortunately we were seated at the other end of the restaurant.
No complaints, absolutely love this restaurant cannot wait to go back already.
A lovely dining experience. Will not hesitate to Rebook. Great
