Not great. The burger buns were stale, one meal came out 15mins after everyone else and we could hear the chefs complaining about everything while cooking. Missing items, average service and over priced.

Food was very average and chips had to be sent back twice as not cooked properly! Waitress staff were lovely, friendly and attentive shame the food did not meet expectation.

Average at best. Hash brown with an egg on top with watery sauce is laughable. Reconstituted beef blob yuck. Sticky toffee great. Prawn sarnie at lunch nice but needed more side salad.

We have been coming here for forty years on our trips to Edinburgh- never again. The barman was totally overworked and we waited over half an hour to place our order (including drinks). Our food , a bowl of soup and coronation chicken, was plainly presented and the coronation sauce, tasteless. We won’t be eating there again

Very fast food delivery . Too fast . Felt like we were on a conveyor belt. Food way over priced. Edible but burger n lasagne worth £9 not £19

When we arrived we were told there would be no fried food due to the fryer not working so no fish, chips, onion rings etc we asked what would be served with a burger and were told crisps. There were also no prawn sandwiches available either as the delivery wasn’t until tomorrow. I’m not sure what has happened lately but it isn’t what it used to be really.

Food was great, however we were only offered 1 menu when others had the option of a second. Service could have been better from the waiting staff, some looking a little scruffy and unprofessional. But overall enjoyed our visit.

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had, the food was below par. I do not blame the staff, they can only work with the tool they have been given by the management team. I would not recommend using this place as a hotel, it should be re-categorise as a cheap B&B.

Friendly welcoming Staff. Nice fish and steak pies but disappointing gammon steak. Annoying to find a service charge included in bill without approval…. Would have appreciated having been asked first!

The pie was obviously pre made and I have had a better one at Greggs. Very overpriced for. What it was. My wife did not enjoy the fish pie. Would not recommend.

Received a warm welcome from staff and chose a table in the conservatory. Ordered the Linden Burger with fries. Delicious! Then the Knickerbocker Glory with lemon curd - like another review said - the best ever! Lovely outdoor seating area & there’s a small kid’s play area. Spotlessly clean.

The newly refurbished Linden Tree was full on this visit and was therefore very busy. Despite this the kitchen and floor staff coped very well and there was a certain buzz around the place and nice ambience. All of the food served was delicious and the staff appreciated any comments we had with regard to the new menu. I would recommend the Tree for a visit anytime.

We had our most expensive Sunday Roast which came on a serving dish for 2, which was very tasty. The vegetables came out on 3 small enamel dishes which consisted of roast potatoes, carrots and cauliflower cheese, we however would of liked mashed turnip or parsnips to accompany the carrots. I think for £20 a head is too expensive for us to recommend to friends I'm afraid 😨

Honestly the best steak and knickerbocker glory I have ever had. Staff were excellent. Welcoming, helpful and attentive but not overly so. We can not wait to go back.
