Far too noisy and cramped. Staff pleasant but need more awareness for 12.5% !! A bit annoying to see my water carafe just put on my table whilst next table had theirs poured as I struggled to take off my jacket. Difficult to catch attention to order coffee. The cod was cooked well but the overcooked chard twisted underneath it was a bit too difficult to cope with! The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was very good though, as was the coffee, but I don’t think I’ll be back.
Great service and delicious pizza. All very reasonably priced too. The waitress Bee was really good, spent a little time talking while I waited for friend.
Love this restaurant. Only issue is that we arrived at noon and were hoping to have brunch which was not possible at that time.
Very good service, noisy gaggle of women disturbed the peace. Didnt fancy any of the food choices, had to swap dishes with yson as he didnt like his at all. Well cooked etc just not to our taste. no good pudding choices either. Nice house champagne.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and charming staff! Thank you. 😊
Great visit great vibes, staff amazing and good food will be back
Langoustine Linguine, glass of Chardonnay, beautiful airy dining room & polite, charming, attentive service - what a fabulous lunch - thank you 😊
Love atmosphere and staff. Food is very good and it’s healthy and fresh. We booked so no waiting and recommend booking.
It was ok, a bit cold in there , everyone crammed together at the back of the restaurant despite being more than half empty. The starter beetroot and turnip salad was far to big and had no seasoning at all. Our main was chicken kebab which was much better but again seriously lacking in seasoning. Had to ask for salt and pepper as none on table. Sadly meal was ruined by incredibly badly behaved children climbing up and over seat directly next to.us , screaming , banging of plates , glasses , windows and toys. Not the restaurants fault I know but if we weren't all crammed into the far end of the restaurant the noise wouldn't have been directly next to us. Please note as we left half the restaurant was still empty. It's ok food is ok .I doubt we will return
Noise levels quite high but staff super friendly. Food good.
Second visit to this stylish restaurant was rather disappointing. Great atmosphere but starters of seabass crudo were only so-so. Langoustine linguini for main was very tasty with sweet and succulent langoustines but was very dry with little sign of the bisque. Bavette steak was nicely cooked but not served hot enough. Desserts of walnut and fig frangipane and vegan chocolate pot were both excellent. Overall we were underwhelmed with the quality and refinement for such an expensive meal.
The food was very good. Service a little slow. I would definitely go back again.
Our favourite restaurant in Wimbledon! Been going there for years and it always delivers! Birthday evening for hubby was made very special by awesome staff! Thank you!
My usual Sunday walk stop for a coffee and sit. All the staff and really nice and helpful.
Fantastic lunch - delicious and generous portion. Will definitely return.
The food was delicious. Service was good and very friendly. Good value for a special lunch!
Everything was fine. The service and the food were both good
I love this place. Whether going for breakfast, lunch or dinner, food is always excellent and the menu varies based on seasonal availability. simple, good quality food.
service was slower than normal as they were very busy. Food was excellent apart from the French fries instead of real chips however the home made tartare sauce made up for it.
love this restaurant - go to for ambience, great food, great service in great surroundings
Always a great place to eat and communicate. Thank you
Amazing food and service, far above level of price charged
Excellent ambiance, friendly staff and fast service. Portions not that big though
Very nice food well priced and charming staff - will go again
A pleasant lunch with good food and friendly, welcoming staff.
Staff very helpful and pleasant. Lovely lunch! Will obviously return.
Great food and service. Quality, taste, quantity and price all in harmony:)
Superb piece of cod with peronata on new potatoes and samphire. Only negative is no non-alcoholic beer, but they do serve Meantime, so I had the real thing!
Quiet Thursday night as only 3 tables occupied. Service fine and attentive. Menu changed since last visi two months ago. Thought the menu was less varied and we all thought not as good as usual, especially the selection of main courses which were disappointing. Set menu bland and what you cook at home cod and potatoes or pork and potatoes. Loud waitress sitting doing nothing but shouting at her two colleagues, not what wanted to hear. Food ordered was satisfactory, courgette and halloumi stater good. Chocolate fudge cake was dry. Shall check menu before visit again.
V quiet as a Monday night, but still a nice ambiance. Food was absolutely delicious! Inventive first course of courgette fritters and haloumi, then a huge pork chop cooked to tender perfection. Will be back and can thoroughly recommend
We had a delightful evening. Enjoying delicious food which was beautifully cooked & presented. The staff were attentive & polite.. a good atmosphere to catch up with old friends
Service very good - food awful. Don't bother!! Haven't been for a couple of years, and food was always very good - however, things have changed. My friend's main (tangine - was inedible -fowl tasting and swimming in oil. I had the steak - asked for medium rare. Came well down and slightly burnt on outside, plus with large bit of gristle. I asked for extra salad instead of fries - I got a couple of extra green leaves. However, salad was inedible as well as absolutely drenched in oily dressing (which I hadn't asked for). They did produce a separate salad when I complained, but the overall standard of food was very, very poor, and way overpriced....Don't waste your money...
Great little restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food! We had the salt beef hash which was delightfully delicious! After chicken for our main course we were so full so could only manage a coffee!
Always have a very enjoyable and delicious meal here with friendly staff and nice surroundings Highly recommend this delightful restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner
We had a delicious dinner last night in this friendly and cosy village restaurant. The service is excellent and the menu is fantastic - really varied and we all fancied many dishes on the menu. They have a great value set menu which I opted for. They were very understanding with my allergies and catered accordingly. Will definitely be coming back for dinner. It’s already a breakfast favourite.
Excellent as always. Went for mums 70th. Every dish we had was delicious and every plate wiped clean. At end of the meal staff sang happy birthday and bought her a lovely little cupcake with candle to blow out/ a great night and we will be back.
Excellent food and service in a lovely situation. Would certainly return. Look forward to visiting for both lunch and morning coffee. Are dogs allowed at the outside tables?
Very welcoming atmosphere, cosy and warm with a real fire. The food was of an excellent standard with a good variety but not overwhelming. We will definitely be returning.
Great food and fast, friendly service. Lovely atmosphere too. I also thought it was good value for money considering the well-above average food. We'll be back!
A very good local staple. 5 of us had dinner there last night and it was a good choice for a friends' night out. Service was friendly and attentive, food was above averagely good, portions spot on (large, if anything). Only small niggles might be the overly bright lighting and the lack of a cocktail menu, but overall a very good evening only a few steps away from Hemingways (which is a very good cocktail bar).
Lovely atmosphere, staff very attentive and food was exceptionally good!
It was our first time at Light on the Common. The staff were friendly, and the level of service was good. Unfortunately we found the food distinctly average, and some things just not good at all (my Mum's sourdough toast which was served with her pate was too hard to eat, and the sweet chilli sauce with the squid was more like a syrup). All in all we found it disappointing, particularly when you consider lunch for two with a bottle of wine came to £90 incl. tip.
