Food, service and environment was lovely. Just a pity it was so cold inside - so wear lots of layers - it’s an old building with high ceilings and although there are lots of heaters the heat dissipates very quickly.
Good menu selection excellent food and service and wonderful mulled wine and mince pie
Delicious food enjoyed by the three of us. My dietary requirements never a problem
Wonderful festive lunch - lots of yummy veggies with perfect roast Turkey and puddings that were out of this world - delicious
Excellent, attentive service in a lovely setting. Food good, freshly home cooked and plentiful. Would recommend.
Nice but service very slow - average if I’m honest
Great food and service, lovely restaurant in a lovely location.
We all had the 3 course lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Service was impeccable, the owner was lovely and very welcoming.
We had a lovely evening for my Birthday. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We almost felt we were eating at a friends house.
A very warm welcome, very attentive staff. Food was good but not spectacular. Interior looked a little tired and in need of a revamp.
A lovely evening a warm welcome great building and wonderful food
Lovely Will definitely come again V.friendley reception, great food , perfect
Brightened up a damp November evening. Very good food, interesting menu and very well presented. Friendly front of house, good value for quality level. Will go back.
Amazing welcome. The food was first class. We had the 3 course set menu and every course was excellent.
Very welcoming friendly staff. Food well presented and hot, I hate cold food if it’s not meant to be.
We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived the staff are fantastic. We enjoyed our dinner
We thought the food was deliciouse, the service was friendly, polite and just the right speed (not too fast or slow) and delight of delight! There was NO back ground music! THANK YOU. What a lovely touch to present us with a little Happy Wedding Anniversary dish as we left. Quite unexpected by us especially as you didn't know in advance.
Very welcoming, lovely fresh, well cooked food. Will definitely be back.
Food excellent although starter better than main course; partly because I'm passionate about the fact that when food is plated and served it should be HOT. The starter was; main course less so; not helped by the chilly atmosphere in the room - turning the temperature up a few degrees would have made for a more welcoming atmosphere too
What a gem this place is, Nicola is the perfect host and Peter a fabulous chef so the perfect combination. We went for lunch and what fantastic value for money, we booked to go back for dinner
Excellent food and price but the restaurant was nearly empty and a bit chilly. The menu was just right - not too long but plenty of choice. The owner is very professional and friendly and the background music was just right.
Delicious food in a characterful setting. Consistently good every time we visit. A great find!
Amazing good quality food, cooked by a professional. Front of house welcoming and would definitely return
Interesting venue and menu - service very good and good atmosphere despite being quite quiet.
The food was served too quickly between first and second courses. The halibut was overcooked as were the overcooked and uninspiring vegetables. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was poor quality considering the price. Had expected better considering the good reviews and high prices.
It was very quiet there when we visited. However, Nicola was very friendly and chatty. We also chatted to the other diners. The restaurant is very interesting as it had previously been an old Chapel and has dining tables at different levels. The food was amazing and the portions very generous.
The choice, food and service was fantastic. The choice of food would have suited everyone. Free extra vegetables was a bonus and very rare. Our waitress was excellent, very professional but friendly and personable and attentive to our needs. The food was hot, speed of service just right (not rushed or too slow). A beautiful tasty meal - we will definitely revisit.
An ecellent meal, welcoming reception and first class service. Will return
Lovely food really good service The building just needs a little softening
Fabulous. Really care and help with allergens. Definitely coming back
As usual the food was excellent, however the French Onion soup was wonderful.
The starter was excellent and the main course really good.
Great find tucked away in a side street. Service is excellent, as is the food. Well worth a visit.
Pork belly starter and halibut were delicious. Beef medallions cooked to perfection. Peanut butter dessert always good. Berry Charlotte great as not too sweet. Great service as ever from Nicky. All in all another good evening.
The Lanes is a real gem of a restaurant, the tables are well spaced, the service is exemplary and the food is fabulous.
A always, the high quality of food and service that makes dining here a pleasure.
Great meal and lovely service. Good choice for supper with friends.
A really nice lunchtime venue, friendly offering a great menu that changes weekly. Not large portions but well balanced and very satisfying. Leave feeling you’ve had a good lunch
Delicious from start to finish! Staff very attentive and surroundings really lovely. Really good food at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back!
Superb food and amazing flavours. Was quite expensive but well worth it. Super service, lovely venue and atmosphere. Throughly recommend
Really lovely food and service. Recommend the sea bass and the carrot cake dessert. If lived nearer would definitely return
Staff were really friendly and service was excellent. Food was great, very high quality.
We had a memorable family dinner at Lanes - great service and exceptionally good food. Gluten and peanut allergies were no problem. Looking forward to returning!
We had a lovely evening and we were looked after very well, abd very much enjoyed our dinner.
My husband really liked his starter/ pork belly and his main course, the cold seafood playe. Service was good too.
We were welcomed as if we were friends and service was excellent. We felt special. The food was beautifully presented and tasted fabulous.
It was one of the worst dining experiences of my life, the starter Duck Salad was something a primary school child could have made, the main course “medallions of Beef were tiny and at £32.00 was a complete rip off, we didn’t say anything to the waiting staff because we were never asked for our opinion about it, it was our 33rd wedding anniversary and my god we should have gone elsewhere Never again Mark Carlin
Great food and a lovely host who is married to the chef, all round a great dining experience.
Our second time at Lanes and it even better than before. A lovely welcome, lovely food and service. We will be back!!
Really delicious lobster bisque and a fabulous seafood salad to follow. The rose was very smooth and the perfect accompaniment. Service was exceptional!
