More about the restaurant: La Gaffe
La Gaffe has been a northwest London institution since 1962, when it opened its doors as a French restaurant. Since then La Gaffe has toyed with offering a comprehensive seafood restaurant experience, expanded its Heath Street premises to include both guest accommodation and a wine bar, before finally settling on serving up peerless Italian cuisine to Hampstead locals and discerning London diners, winning awards along the way. La Gaffe still offers fantastically good value guest rooms, but it’s the restaurant and its classically-structured Italian menu that has us coming back for more!

Thinking about making a La Gaffe booking?
While La Gaffe is one of London’s best guest accommodation gaffs, set as it is up Heath Street close to verdant Hampstead Heath itself, its role as a superb local wine bar and enoteca, and refined Italian restaurant, pulls it head and shoulders above other London institutions offering a full hospitality experience. And an institution it certainly is, having been on the block for over 50 years. This kind of pedigree is hard to beat, and any gourmet worth his rock salt is advised to pay La Gaffe a visit.
With an excellent location in Hampstead, close to many northwest London landmarks and the heath just up the road, proprietors Bernardo and Androulla Stella are always pleased to welcome newcomers to their venerable Italian restaurant. Expect a menu packed with classics of the bel paese, from premium antipasti platters to hearty, rustic main courses drawn from the annals of regional Italian cookery. Winning awards for their commitment to quality Italian cuisine (Cuoco D’Oro, London Evening Standard Top Ten nomination, AA Dinner), the Stellas are set to introduce La Gaffe’s inimitable dining experience to a whole new generation.
