Food and service both excellent. Our new favourite restaurant in Colchester

From moment we arrived, we were made to feel very comfortable and welcome. The restaurant is cleanly decorated which fits with their Japanese theme. We had several small courses, which are served as they are prepared, so you have plenty of time to savour all the outstanding flavours and textures, plus what I can only call artistry of presentation. A point was made of thanking us and asking our opinions before we left. We throughly recommend Koryu and will most definitely be returning.

Superb service, atmosphere and staff. Food is absolutely divine. Went here as a party of 10 and could not fault anything! Everyone loved the food and the staff were amazing. Will definitely be going back really soon because I want to try more dishes.

The four of us really enjoyed our first visit to Koryu. None of us are very experienced when it comes to Japanese dining but we really enjoyed what we had, service and atmosphere were very good, we'll certainly be going back.

A really lovely meal as always but the restaurant was really noisy which made it hard to talk. It needs some sound absorbing panels or something as it was not even full.

The food is amazing, the Mizo soup the best we have tasted. Service was friendly and welcoming. Lunch time was quiet but will certainly go again.

We loved the old restaurant and felt it had real personal feel about and the food was spot on. The larger premises loses a bit of the feel although it does look a nice place and this time we were disappointed with the food. There was a lot of fat in the chicken and the buns were re-done as there was a fair bit of fat in them also. The owner was great and listened and explained where the meat used came from as well as taking the bund off the bill, a really nice gesture however I doubt we'll go back. Such a shame.

Very quiet on a Friday lunch time even with 20% off, restaurant was clean and service was okay.

Me and my boyfriend came here on Saturday night and we are blown away by the quality of the food, never tasted anything like it and the Sake we drank, was incredible, the sushi, just WOW and I’ve never tasted Mochi like that ever. All the staff were so lovely and friendly, making sure we were happy with everything. The restaurant itself was so calming and tranquil, we’re coming back as our mission is try everything on the menu. Thank you for bringing your restaurant to Colchester as it’s really refreshing to have something so unique here
