Excellent restaurant, I'd highly recommend this to family and friends. Excellent customer service and the food is 1st class. The decor is wonderful and very bright.

Nice meal but preferred the mains to the starters. The aubergine curry was particularly fresh and tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. The wine was good and reasonably priced.

really excellent and tasty food, friendly and attentive staff. There was a good selection on the menu, but not so much that deciding was a fiasco! Will definitely return.

Great meal, but a few things on the menu not available, popodoms & mushrooms. It would have been useful if the waiter had said this when giving over the menus

Glad we booked!! Excellent food, it was great before but its now even better - restaurant busy on a Wednesday night as welll. Best vegetarian Indian restaurant we have ever visited.

Party of four had a great meal and enjoyed our time there. One thing we did not like was the addition of a service charge to the bill even when it was supposed to optional.

Kalpna is fantastic! Nice and authentic indian atmosphere, extremely good vegetarian and vegan food and impeccable service. Fair prices too! I will definitely go again!

Sublime Indian cuisine, served by friendly and attentive staff, as they have consistently done over the many years of my visits. Since we were there a month ago the menus have gone full colour too.

The food was really good but the service was not. We had to wait half an hour before we could order. After one hour we got our drinks. (I had to ask three times, difficult to catch the attention of the staff). In the end the service was a bit better and the staf was friendlier. Maybe something else was going on we didn't know about.. my wife got a dish that was spicy even though she double checked with the waiter beforehand and it was not described as spicy on the menu. The food was good though and the place was very beautiful and clean. Maybe it was just a bad day?

Great food although service a touch slow. And it was a bit chaotice. But I would be happy to return. Looking forward to doing so

We had a delighted evening meal. Serves terrific vegetarian indian food and has friendly staff and a nice ambience and atmosphere - I would highly recommend this.

The food was very tasty and a delight in eating, the setting has been refurbished to a very high standard and the service was pleasant.

A wonderful restaurant with brilliant service, delicious food and a great atmosphere. An affordable but decadent dinner out in Edinburgh. One of my favourite restaurants.

The food was very tasty and well presented. The service was attentive, although we were in a bit of a rush as attending the theatre at 7.30, so perhaps should have said so at the start. Advice was given regarding choices made. Dropped a point as portions were on the small side if not having rice or bread.

Fantastic place, lovely atmorfaire and tasty food! Service was superb and staff very helpful . Overall all very good. The only thing I personally believe is unfair towa5ds the staff is the tips. 4% tips already on the bill( I know it's optional) to go to the management? I'm sorry but as a manager, I know managers get paid well but staff not. So all the tips should be going straight to the staff. This is only a personal point of view.

First time here since it has changed. As good as ever with lovely tasty food which we enjoyed with Kingfisher beer. The new doorway however doesn’t work well in an Easterly wind if you sit anywhere near it!

Fantastic food by fantastic people. Unique flavours and vegetarian and vegan, with a huge menu, it was hard to choose from all the choices, but that's not a bad thing.

The food was really good. The restaurant is small so best to book, I should think. It was busy so there was a small wait but staff were attentive. Very good vegan food.

We had the most delicious Indian meal. The food was really tasty, with fabulous flavours. The staff were very helpful and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.

Great food, although not easy to guarantee a nut free order, if you have a nut allergy. Price as expected and cosy well spaced environment

I normally go to Kalpna for dinner, where the à-la-carte menu is much more interesting than the lunch buffet, which is what we had this time.

The food was good but not great, I would have expected better quality for the price charged. I don't like the fact that the tip is added to your bill whilst it should be up to me to choose if I want to tip or not. Thus, I asked it to be deduced and did not pay it.

This restaurant was small but was busy when I went. I did not realise it was strictly vegetarian food so I didn't stay to eat.

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. I love this place. Menu is varied and reasonably priced. My only concern is the quality/cleanliness of the toilets, especially the woman's toilets as the light would not come on.

Lovely Indian vegan food in a relaxing atmosphere. We both had the Vegan Thali,which was a three course meal served altogether on a platter. Excellent service.

I've been to this place for 20 odd years and have had more good experiences than bad . Last night though is the first time we were forgotten about!!! Yep got asked if we wanted anything else or coffee..... er the main meal would be nice!!!! Lol anyway shortly after that the meal came and was very nice as usual.

Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. The only thing that bothered me was the price. I think that place is a little bit expensive. Still I would definately recommend it :)

The food was good but the service was poor. Table booked for 6pm: we arrived at 5.55 and finally received our drinks and starter at 6.25 and our main course at 6.55! They were obviously working flat out but were overwhelmed. A restaurant of this quality should be better organised for busy periods. All we received was a smile and a 'sorry' when we had to rush our meal and leave for another engagement. We have been to Kalpna many times over the years but sadly will think twice before going again. D A S

Great food but slow and unenthusiatic service. A little on the pricey side for a vegetarian only menu but everything was very tasty and cooked well.

It was very good food & service. Table bit cramped with dishes. Our order was not very well explained to begin with as thalis dishes came later than others so bit confusing

The Kalpna experience is consistent..This is a charming place situated in a fascinating part of the City. Excellent, delicious food..fine wine..relaxed , friendly atmosphere...attractive décor.. pleasant serving staff .

Good range of dishes and good value at lunchtime. Service was good despite the restaurant being busy. This is a good place to catch up with former colleagues.

I have dined at Kalpna many times...and each time I enjoy the experience. The food is always delicious; the ambience simple , decorative and unpretentious; the service efficient and unobtrusive. The all vegetarian menus offers memorable tastes an exciting combinations of fresh ingredients. The very best of Indian dining for the discenrning palate

Service wasn't consistent, would be better to have a single server to the table - not worth the 10% service charge automatically added to the bill. Menu seems more limited than before, with skimpy starter portions. Market research gatherer at the end of the meal was intrusive and spoilt the meal.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Booked for three people originally but phoned another twice to add extra and was accommodated without any problem.

Absolutely diabolical non existent service Seemed to be invisible to staff once initially seated - after 30 minutes we unsurprisingly decided to leave GO ELSEWHERE

This is a small restaurant with interesting decor and a nice atmosphere. The service was adequate and the food acceptable but not exciting or especially tasty. There was too little variety in the dishes, all of which seemed to come with too much cream. I have eaten here many times in the past and enjoyed it thoroughly but this visit was disappointing.

Great food and service. The best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh! The vegan buffet offers a wide range of dishes and I wish I had been more hungry to try them all!

Gorgeous vegetarian curry- tastes authentic. Friendly helpful staff and lovely relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to go to if you want to experience authentic Indian food.
