Great service, great food, looking forward already to my next visit. If you are visiting Birmingham go to this restaurant you will not be disappointed
We had a late evening meal which was very good. The service & food was good and as expected- recommend location price and atmosphere. It was recommended to me.
Best Indian I ever had, even in India. Will be back for sure. The biriyani was delicious, the roti crispy and tasty. The service was amazing and quick.
Food was beautiful but a little more expensive than expected. Perhaps the price of drinks were a little steep. But overall great service from all staff and they all ensured we were having a good meal and had everything we wanted/needed.
Good food, fast and excellent service. Nice touch on the hand wipes at the end. Highly recommended. Meal for two with drinks cost ~£50. Regular portion sizes so I recommend that you order both naan rice and naan with your meal.
The location is perfect for central Birmingham and the area very accessible with parking nearby in Thorpe street. The service was first class but we were the only customers at 5.30 on New Years Eve. The set menu for the night was OK and the staff were happy to do anything else you may wish. BUT only a "good" experience NO WOW factor which having read other reviews I was hoping for, but never the less a very pleasant meal.
Pleasant, compact Indian restaurant in the Arcadian Centre, Birmingham. Good quality food with very reasonable prices. Wine list was small, but covered all tastes. My lamb tikka biryani was delicious.
Service and food excellent we were seated quickly and served promptly. The james special was excellent which my girlfriend had. I had shami kebab which were bed on some gorgeously cooked onions.
Not great food and expensive for what it was. The chicken tasted as though it was reheated and portion sizes were small for the price paid. Wouldn't return. Strange music choice as well - would have expected Indian music in an Indian restaurant.
Lovely ambience, the service and the food were great- definitely one of the best currys in Birmingham- would certainly recommend and we'll be back soon
Staff were attentive and polite, service was very good and food arrived in a timely fashion. Food was absolutely delicious. Best Indian restaurant I've tried in the city.
I Visited Birmingham for the weekend and went to James Dahl on Saturday night. It was fantastic. Food was very delicious and the service great.
Very nice decor and fresh food. Food arrived in a timely fashion and the staff were great with kids. Drinks were of a good quality.
Really enjoyed the occasion. Nice atmosphere. Excellent service with prompt and courteous staff. Delicious food. Definitely recommend booking as very busy. All round very good.
We were ony visiting Birmingham, so keen to find a good curry. Great food, presented in a modern, contempory style, backed by friendly service. What more could you want?
Waited a long time for the meal, was served on a chipped plate and tasted standard. Had the runs next day too. Won't be going back.
First visit early on a Thursday evening before a trip to the theatre. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff served us delicious food. Modern and pleasant decor and beautifully clean. Very impressed all round. Will definitely go again
One of the best curries I've had. Fresh, delicate flavours - clearly a great chef with good ingredients. Enjoyed everything about the food. The service was good. Nice, clean, modern styling. It was a bit rowdy, but what do you expect for a Saturday night?
Great food and great service!! Perfect sized portions and very yummy curry!! Slightly more expensive than other curry house in the area but definitely worth it!
Food very good - a couple of niggles but dealt with well by the staff who were pleasant. Drink measures a little suspect but bottle of wine and cobra bottle ok
Doesn't match the reviews or the high rating in Trip Advisor. Quality of food is variable. Pleasantly modern in decor and friendly staff. It's ok, but I expected a lot better.
Food was great, portion sizes perfect and the flavors were amazing. The only thing letting my experience down was the fact there was a part of approx 20 people seated near our table who were very loud but I understand this is not a fault by the restaurant itself. Would 100% recommend this place.
Food was ecceptional. Service friendly and efficient. We did not feel rushed. Restaurant very tastefully decorated. We would not hesitate to return. Very good value too.
This was our first visit to James Dahl, the meal was great the tastiest we have had for a long time. The service was really quick and professional in a very relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
Excellent service and good staff but food rather dull and our chicken dishes were a bit chewy. It doesn't quite compare to Birmingham's leading Indian restaurants.
Enjoyed a fantastic curry recently at the James Dahl. Couldnt fault it at all. Really really nice food and good friendly service. Dont hesitate to come here 😊
Great restaurant, staff are attentive and friendly, decor is modern, the food is well flavoured and a good size and quality. Price is average for the city centre. We will be going again.
Lovely staff, very helpful, the food was really good, and a good selection of wine. Was surprised at the Excellent price at the end considering we had 2 expensive bottles of wine
great food, friendly helpful and courteous staff. Relaxed atmosphere, well worth a visit if that side of town. worth booking ahead if a weekend visit as it's not huge
Couldn't fault the meal, it was beautiful! Music maybe a little too loud and no courtesy check up if satisfied with the meal. Staff polite and friendly
We love the food here, and the staff are charming. Attentive without being overwhelming. one of the best Saag Paneers around, and the view of the passing public adds to the entertainment!
Really interesting choices, we stuck with the Bangladeshi fish dishes (this is a Bangladeshi restaurant and spicy fish and rice is their staple diet). Traditional tasting dishes with a modern presentation and chic setting. The best 'Indian' meal I've had in ages.
Great place to dine, lovely Indian quisine, extensive menu, very friendly staff, extremely passionate about customer service. Have eaten here over the last few months and always excellent, recommemd booking.
Great food at cheap prices! Nice place to go on a Saturday evening and a welcoming and bubbly atmosphere. One of the best in Birmingham!
Lovely people, lovely food, lovely restaurant. Highly recommend! We went before a show at the hippodrome and booked a table at 5. This gave us plenty of time and the staff were so attentive to everything and even makes every day conversation with the people. High class restaurant for everyday prices. Definitely be going back!
Strange place - it's a funny shaped room. Quite small - funny layout. Food was ok-ish. We both had the special, nothing bad about it - but not exactly special. Service was good.
Yummy! Really lovely & clean restaurant, and lots of choice on the menu. Great for an evening out and very good service. Food is fresh and full of flavour, thank you for a brilliant meal!
My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant not long ago after hearing good reviews about it on TripAdvisor. It definitely lived up to our expectation and we had a really enjoyable meal. The service was excellent and the food was tasty, we'll definitely be going back in the near future!
Enjoyed the service and the food was really good. The location and environment was nice. Found free parking near by so I suppose that was a plus
Went to James Dahl on 2nd July for an anniversary meal. Booked last minute and they were able to fit us in. Lovely food, great service. Recommended!
The food here is nicely presented and not over greasy. Mains are a good size. But some specials leave a lot to be desired. The special fried fish starter was over priced for three small squares of previously frozen, gelatinous and tasteless fish deep fried in some sort of floury coating. Staff are excellent. Coffee v nice. Busy and noisy, but good ambience.
Friendly helpful staff, with very efficient service. All four of us enjoyed all of our dishes which were varied and offered some different choices from the usual 'Indian' food. We were impressed and will be back for more.
Very good food, wine selection great, staff smashing, arrived late not a problem, spices lovely and fresh, chicken exceptional bread and rice lovely and dry with flavour, def go again soon
Great food at a very reasonable price. Been there twice and every time we enjoyed it very much. One of the best indians we've had
Fantastic meal friendly staff & great service. My wife & I visited for our Anniversary & we weren't disappointed. We will definitely be visiting again - highly recommend 😊
Lovely tasty food nice to go to an Indian restaurant that offers different dishes as well as all the standard ones. Excellent service. Clean toilets.
We had a really enjoyable meal. The Menu was varied and the food was delicious. I got the impression the waiter was pretty new to the job as the welcome was slightly awkward introduction and he didn't know what one of the drinks was that we ordered (a shandy). However, this didn't detract from a great meal.
Small but very nice contemporary feeling Indian. Food and service top notch would definitely book again if in the area. The prices are also very reasonable
Starters very good but main courses were just about average. Dissapointed as from other reviews I expected it to be much better than it was. Having said that the service was very good.
One of the best Indian meals I have had. Nice surroundings and very good service. Food very well presented but it tasted even better than it looked!
