Love this restaurant, the food is freshly made & tasty, the staff are very friendly & welcoming (& we like that they don't stand over you :like other restaurants), also the atmosphere decor is lovely. Can't fault it.

The location was good. Service was friendly and nothing to complain about the food, just check the bottle of wine prices, you could get caught out.

Excellent food and service! They gave us the wrong naan breads and when we mentioned it we were immediately told to keep the ones we had been given on the house and the right ones were brought out. All members of staff were friendly.

The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere (lighting, incense, decor) and the staff are very polite. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious. I had picked this restaurant based on the type of cuisine, location and especially because it had great reviews on TripAdvisor. I'm happy that on this occasion it did live up to the reviews; it was a wonderful meal as part of a birthday treat for my best friend.

The best indian meal I have ever had! Absolutely fabulous food and lovely staff. Highly recommended. I hope to return next time I am in Birmingham.

We were pleased with the table we were offered, and the ambience of the restaurant.....the wine was very good, and not too expensive. The starters took an age to appear, even after we reminded them, and they were both very average. However the mains taken from their Specials menu were excellent, and nicely served. The waiters were attentive Probably would go back if going to Hippodrome again.

Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Good vegetarian options and large portion sizes too. Service charge is included so be aware of this before you give an extra tip.

Our experience was excellent as you can see from the 6,the decor,ambience was lovely,a very extensive menu with all the classics as well as chefs recommendations and new dishes,the waiters were attentive without being intrusive giving us time to peruse the menu and have a pre dinner glass of wine. The most important bit the food was very good ,well presented hot and very tasty,there was three of us who all had different dishes and we all agreed it was excellent. We will definitely be back.

I booked this restaurant for dinner for my friends and myself before going on to the theatre.Excellent food, staff very attentive and welcoming, lovely restaurant, will certainly be returning. We all chose different dishes with rice and all were perfect.

Great restaurant. Was pretty quiet but great attentive staff - quick and efficient service. Food was delicious - had a starter and some sides but big portions and very full afterwards. Would recommend.

Restaurant was nicely decorated, food was tasty and portion sizes were good. We either ate at a very quiet time or the restaurant doesn't get very busy - this did limit the atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and professional and I thought the meal overall was good value for money. I would visit again.

Lovely intimate setting, beautiful decor, service excellent, food was great. Enjoyed the evening, china town environment was good. A larger variety of desserts would be good. Can't fault, highly recommended.

A little dark inside where we were sat and had to use torch on phone to read menu. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was excellent.

We visited for the first time for a pre theatre meal. We had a fantastic meal and I would highly recommend you visit. If you like Indian food you will love James Dahl.

Saturday evening meal, and the all aspects of the meal were very good. The starters were tasty and the main dishes balanced with spice. The food itself was very good. The service was efficient but a little bit rushed given the restaurant was not full.

Excellent food, facilities and service. All 6 of us loved the place and would definitely return, when we go back to Birmingham. I cannot understand the odd bad review at all. I tend to lean to the owners response, and can only believe its malicious competitors, trying to destroy a lovely restaurant.

After a warm welcome we were seated at a smart window table, the restaurant is modern, contemporary and very clean. Our drinks order was taken and arrived promptly. We ordered food and asked the waiter if one of the dishes could be personalised to my wife's taste, the food was fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant.

The food is good; an excellent saag paneer, and the staff are extremely friendly without being intrusive. It's a busy restaurant so it's advisable to book.

The staff were very friendly and the food was great. However, after ordering, the food did take almost an hour to come. Hence the 5/6.

Lovely small restaurant. Very welcoming, with superb food. IT is just round the corner from the Hippodrome, so was ideal for a meal before the show.

We arrived to a warm welcome and were seated at our reserved table. Our food was fab, the chicken dishes were flavoured perfectly and the veg was cooked to perfection. We would highly recommended this restaurant.

Lovely decorated restaurant, with a nice atmosphere and spotlessly clean. We were given a very warm welcome and very attentive and helpful service. They took time to help us choose, explaining what the various dishes were. The food was delicious, hot and nicely presented. We would definitely visit again

Fantastic service and amazing food. It was our first time there and will 100% be going back. They cater for all and made sure we had a great food...the starters and mains were amazing even made us a Paneer Garlic Chilli Masala which was amazing.

This was the first time I tried this restaurant and the kitchen service was very good. The food was lovely and the price was very reasonable.

The food is superb and the service is first rate. I would certainly recommend eating here for a pre or post theatre meal or a trip to the Glee club.

Lots of traditional Indian dishes but they taste fresh and delicious...service was excellent all the way through, my highlights included opening the door for me when I went to the loo and bringing extra ice for our Lassi to keep it cool....look out for the quirky way of serving the hot towels xx
