From the glorious greenery of Hesse in Germany, comes to Chorlton the teutonic delights of classic German food. Hotpot Ess Paradies (that’s dining paradise for those not fluent in the language of… not love exactly, but love of sausages?) is a unique restaurant concept bringing together classic German ingredients and Manchester’s famously open-minded diners. The food of Goethe and Brecht in all its comforting-strudely goodness is writ large at Barlow Moor Road’s premier European kitchen.

Willkommen in… Manchester. Manchester’s dining scene has long been dominated by the flavours of the subcontinent, but European food is starting to enjoy something of a renaissance, particularly outside of the city centre. Those in the know have always headed to Chorlton for unique restaurants, away from the generic chains in town. In Hotpot Ess Paradies on Barlow Moor Road, locals have reason to be smug. Bringing the suß und salzig flavours of German cuisine (and let’s be honest, the beer too) to the north, they have enjoyed unprecedented success in reforming the Mancunian image of German food.

German food is unfairly caricatured as a wholly Wurst-led cuisine, but at the team at Chorlton’s Hotpot Ess Paradies are proving there’s more to German food than sausages! Naturally, the Barlow Moor Road eatery features some excellent bratwurst (and currywurst, and würstl) but there’s also schnitzel, stew and gulash too (there are even vegetarian options…).
