Great food, out of the ordinery, always special. The fixed price menu is always good value and the real fires make it a very nice place for a relaxing evening.
Extremely friendly owner who's wife was the chef. A good menu with a varied selection and catered well to food allergies. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere
Food and service both excellent, a real pleasure to dine there. Imaginative combinations of foods and flavours make this restaurant a cut above the rest. We will be back!
The adult food was excellent, that's highly recommended. The lower rating is due to the children's food as that's where the Fox and Hounds let themselves down. The four children in our group had sausauges with either mash or chips and there were two problems. The sausages were herb filled and not eaten, if they had provided plain simple pork sausages, they would have been consumed. The mash, although tasty was too small portion, size wise, for a 9 year old very hungry boy. No veg were offered with the children's food which nutrionally, they should have had.
Good food and drinks, a bit pricey but worth it. Staff were very good. However, they charged us £3 for some tap water which was not even cold!
Friendly and welcoming. Service was good. Not the same old, same old menu, it was unusual and we were spoilt for choice. Excellent wines. All round a lovely evening.
We were excellently looked after and fed as always. The staff were their usual cheerful and friendly selves. The only quibble is that the green vegetables were rather too al dente for both our tastes
The menu choice was very good with lots of specials too. The food was really tasty, lots of flavours. Staff were friendly and the service was good. This was our first visit but will be back again soon.
Family Dinner for 4x adults. Entrees very nice - 2 x cauliflower soups with truffle oil, 1 x courgette chips with parmigana and a duck egg om toasted ciabatta with garnishes. For mains the bacon and leek pie was tasty and the chilli com carne good. We enjoy being able to choose from the A la Carte menu or the set 2 or 3 course menu.
Excellent visit as usual superb food and good beer and friendly staff would highly recommended to anybody also reasonable prices so don't miss out. Ian Lisa.
Our Sunday lunch yesterday fully lived up to our expectations. We had a very warm welcome, the service was, as always, friendly, courteous and attentive, and the food was of its usual very high standard.
Excellent atmosphere! Danny who was behind the Bar was very welcoming and watching how efficiently he made up the various Gin Special drinks etc was very entertaining. Food and service in the restaurant was just as good. Most enjoyable!
Great food, excellence wine - all expertly hosted by David (friendly expertise). From a pre-dinner gin experience to the fresh and imaginative menu will guarantee a great experience.
Excellent atmosphere! Danny who was behind the Bar was very welcoming and watching how efficiently he made up the various Gin Special drinks etc was very entertaining. Food and service in the restaurant was just as good. Most enjoyable!
We visited the Fox and Hounds for dinner last night (our first time) and we enjoyed the food however our evening was slightly let down by the waitresses who looked like they didn't want to be there and weren't very engaging - we struggled to get a smile out of them! Other than that, good menu choices - some more unusual options which was nice to see - we particularly enjoyed the skate wing with the pea/ham croquettes. Such a shame about the service as the pub clearly has a good chef to its name!
Excellent range of choices on the menu, all delicious and well-presented with good sized portions. We ate here last month and the menu is completely different this month but apparently changes daily! Huge range of gins too and different guest beers. Highly recommended.
Lovely lunch great service. Will definitely be back when next in area Ploughman lunch was very much enjoyed by two of us. Fish and chips went down well and my choice of beef burger in focaccia bread almost defeated me! Thanks
My wife and I chose the Prix Fixe menu today and were not disappointed. The bar was quiet so we ate there and had, as always, a delicious meal served served by the very freindly bar staff. A very pleasant evening.
A very good meal for two of us from the Christmas menu. Something rather different from the usual festive fare, splendidly cooked and presented. The staff were helpful and courteous as always.
Great service high quality a large carte menu and able to mix and match with the prix fixe menu items which were good value. Extensive wine list and G&T options!
We had a Starter (Light Bite) and a Dessert and they were both delicious. The service was discreet but attentive. Can't wait to go again!
First rate food and excellent wines. A must go to restaurant in Northamptonshire. Innovative cooking and attentive service. Puddings are particularly good. This is also a dog friendly pub.
Excellent food and excellent service. Couldn't fault it in any way. Beautifully cooked fillet steak for me and a sirloin for my wife which is one of the thickest I've seen in a while. Slightly more expensive than surrounding restaurants nuts with the greater expense comes greater quality. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our family lunch today, the food was OK and the service good.Drinks were fairly priced and good. Will consider ti for a future visit.
Love the food here. Service is excellent. Lovely welcoming staff who cannot do enough for you. We will definitely be back in future. Lovely enjoyable evening.
From start to finish this place deserves top credit. A very warm welcome from start to finish with top class food and service that any top restaurant would be proud to serve.
8 of us booked a table here last night. We sampled the renowned gins to start with which got the evening off to a good start! We wondered if it was all about the gin before we came and so had low expectations on food but we were delighted as every dish we ordered was delicious and the quality was first rate. I think some of the staff may have been new as their knowledge of some of the drinks and food was a little patchy but it didn't detract from the overall good service. We all said we would be back.
Friendly, welcoming staff and atmosphere and the food was excellent. The Haddock rarebit especially. The service was quick and efficient too. We'll definitely visit again.
Couldn't fault it - had a lovely time and sat out in the sunshine. Service and food marvellous! Dog friendly too - will let my pal Bill know as I'm sure he will bring Archie
Fabulous, we had a delicious meal here for mothers day. Gorgeous food, presented beautifully and lovely atmosphere. Probably the top restaurant in this local area
Excellent meal as always. Slightly let down by the pudding, which was a little bland. Also 3 groups all arrived at the same time so the bar service was slow but you can't expect them to lay on extra staff in case a party arrives together and no one can decide what to drink. Otherwise an excellent meal and well served/presented
Very nice atmosphere, the chips served with the meal were a disappointment they were overdone. Otherwise the meals were good. Waitress was extremely helpful, polite.
We had another very enjoyable evening, great service, fabulous food I enjoyed Baby Squid followed by Maple and Ale Braised Beef Short Rib as amazing as it sounds, for dessert I enjoyed the Iced Coffee Parfait, Cinnamon Doughnuts washed down with a glass of Frangelico. With menus that change daily we've always enjoyed our choices. We will be back ( this Sunday ) thanks
Amazing menu with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Great value fixed priced menu as well as a huge array of offerings on the main menu. Friendly and efficient staff, the F & H is an asset to the village.
An excellent meal and service as always. David and all the staff were cheerful and efficient. Congratulations to the kitchen staff too for a delicious lunch.
Booking on line was easy. We were welcomed into the clean, bright restaurant. Lovely decor, good service and an excellent meal. We chose roast beef, which was well presented, perfectly cooked and came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and a good variety of vegetables.
Service was excellent but it was a quiet night and not a lot of tables, food was excellent my daughter enjoyed her venison, even though she did remove the salt garnish. I had the chicken and it was prepared very well with great sweet potato mash. We asked for dessert to be fixed in a different way and at first the chef was reluctant, but final caved and it was awesome. We had the chocolate/cherry crème Brule warmed. This is a gem of a restaurant in a very small village of Charwelton worth the trip. The restaurant had an extensive wine menu, we did not indulge but it looked very balanced. We ate on the restaurant side, there is a pub side that looked very warm and welcoming. The menu is a little pricey but for a night out it is well worth it!!
Excellent food and excellent service. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great value. Couldn't find fault with anything. First visit here, will definitely be back again 10/10
Cosy atmosphere, attentive staff and a delicious menu with well constructed dishes using quality ingredients. Excellent wine list too with some unusual selections to try. Great value for money.
Saturday night catch up with an old work colleague, food was superb and the array of gins, wines & bottled beers from around the world complimented the evening perfectly. Would highly recommend a visit!
The food was good (but not exceptional) and the service pleasant but over all we felt it was a little over priced for the standard.
Absolutely delicious food and really great service from the staff; we will definitely be going back soon. Best steak we've had in years, would highly recommend this great place!
Lovely food, what a find! Would recommend it. Service was a bit slow, but quality made up for it. Easy to find and nice bar
Fantastic food in a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere I will definitely return its nice to find a pub that has got the balance right
Very friendly place, had fish and it was extremely delicious. Excellent choice of gin (if you like it!). Good service, highly recommend this establishment. Good for all age groups.
A lovely country pub with plenty of atmosphere. Great homemade food with lots of choice. Location east to find, and there is plenty of parking. Would definately recommend you giive the Fox and Hounds at Charwelton a visit.
A very pleasant atmosphere and helpful staff! The food was good quality and presented well! I was surprised that we were the only diners - hope the pub/restaurant will be able to survive!
Good service and tasty food in a pleasing atmosphere. Some reservations about the dessert, however. Trifle should slide down, were as this was rather solid.
Good food, good service - a bit pricey, nice location, friendly staff. Could well do without the muzak. Don't need twenty five words to complete a survey of this nature
Great food and excellent service will defiantly be visiting again , steak and the cod cooked superbly very tasty food presented lovely , and the pub has a warm friendly feeling
The food is always fantastic and tastes great. We always enjoy the atmosphere and the staff are always welcoming. We'll definitely be returning soon :)
