From the moment I walked in I was made to feel very welcome. I was greeted with smiles and friendliness. Very efficient service and the food was excellent. Great atmosphere I will definitely return. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
Food was lovely, Steak and Ale pie was full of meat, nice mash and veg. My wife's meal (chicken and chorizo linguini) was apparently also lovely. Drinks were nice (hot chocolate almost needed scraping out of the mug it was so thick and chocolatey) , quick and friendly service.
Very good service, good value and atmosphere. We enjoyed burger, sausage and mash, rabbit casserole followed by raspberry crumble and chocolate brownie and ice cream. Sticky toffee pudding was a little dry. A good range of real ale.
We had a great evening. Our waitress was lovely and really helpful. We tried the food and wine offer. Would recommend to friends and family.
Quite possibly the best Sunday lunch I've had in a restaurant and the homemade desserts look delicious if you have any room left that is!
Great food - loved the chorizo and king prawn starter - delicious. Balsamic inspired dressing was delightful. Good wine choices. Great service. To make it even better they could have done something special as they knew it was my partneRs bday
Fab service, lovely olde-English building opposite the Robin Hood statue, wide range of well-kept hand-pull beers, good choice of wines with some unusual options (we tried a slightly too-young 2014 Derbyshire Rondo!!), very clean toilets, and most importantly, fresh tasty food, beautifully presented. All 6 of us agreed it was one of the best meals we've had in a long time.
Excellent food and service the waitress really made my little boy feel special.would defiantly recommend it's our 2 be visit for mothers day and this year she enjoyed the Eton mess dessert.
Met some friends for lunch. Menu had a good choice with a wide range of prices. Service and ambience good. Can recommend and will go again.
Top quality food and great service in a great location. The Sunday lunch is wonderful but they do offer more from the menu. Thanks for a great day
Brilliant food and friendly service makes Fothergills a first choice for city centre sunday lunches - nice relaxed atmosphere and good range of food and drink are definitely the main factors when considering where to go. :)
Fab meal out, well worth it! We had excellent service and food throughout the entire evening. We would definitely go back again. Thank you! :)
Great food - we had 4 roasts, including vegetarian option which was very tasty. Service a little hit and miss, they were busy and we could tell.
Lovely food, great service and beautiful ambiance. Had a lovely evening, six of us visited and not one of us could fault the food. A thoroughly lovely evening, will definitely be retuening
Great location, great service, good food and fantastic price! Out second visit and will definitely be coming back. Mussels are very good. Apparently the best place for Sunday lunch so that is now on our list!
Relaxed environment, staff are friendly and polite, food is wonderful. only down fall is they didn't have fish option on the menu this time, but there is plenty to choose. I will definitely be going again.
Interior full of character in sight of the castle wall; looks great under lights at night. Not too busy or hectic, music in the background. Food good and pleasant service.
Excellent meals , would definitely go again . Although the drinks ordered took a while to arrive when first arriving. Staff were friendly and helpful
Good service, good food. Definately suggest to visit. I visited Forthergills for anniversary dinner. I ordered duck confit and pork belly. Both were tasty. Wine were so so but worth the price.
Great food and location, really enjoyed it and would recommend. Nice pub next door as well. Well worth a visit. Good varied menu for all tastes
Delicious food and in a great setting. Fab service, would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning! Thank you for a great meal ! :)
Service and food excellent. The starters and main courses were presented in appealing way. Venue exactly what we wanted for a social gathering! Thank you we will come again.
Excellent food service brilliant the product knowledge of staff was brilliant and we were made to feel truly welcome. We felt that it was almost friends serving our food will definitely visit again
Exceptional food and great service, unsure about the table located between levels on a break in the stairs, but other than that everything was lovely. Would prefer cheaper dessert and wine but not obscene.
From walking in to leaving service was excellent. Staff were knowledgeable about menu and made excellent recommendactions. Ambience excellent, good lighting and castle views. Food lived up to expectations....very good. Recommending experience to friends
It's very work atmosphare in Fothergills Restourant. The food presantation was amaizing and all the meal with we order was delicius :)Highly recomend the place to everyone!! Ines
Great food. Cheerful service. Only criticism is that, it was a cold January eveningand the heating in the restaurant was not sufficient to maintain the room at a comfortable temperature. The bar was warm, the restaurant no.
really helpful staff and great food. The Sunday roast was excellent quality and value. Bread and butter pudding also a hit. We would go back again.
Great atmosphere, great food and great service. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Visits to this place have got me through some rough times over the last year - it's always a great place to come back to.
I wouldn't go sunday evening. The venue is nice and welcoming, the staff polite and helpful. But the menu is different on sunday - and unless you basically want a roast not that great. The only other thing I might have had was fish & chips - but the fryer was out of action. They'd run out of beef. So overall is was picking from quite a short list. What I had was nice, but overall the experience wasn't as I had expected
Good food and nice friendly staff. It was busy but the service was very good. I would definitely recommend it. Nice views of Nottingham castle
The food was up there with the best I've had. The staff were fantastic they couldn't do enough for us we will definitely be back
Very friendly service from the staff and delicious food, as always - have been several times before. Will be back after the re-furbishment to enjoy more food.
Fantastic restaurant with fantastic staff and of course fantastic food 10 out of 10. The waitress there was the best I've seen for a long time. I only wish I'd tipped her more. 😁 .
Lovely choice of food, staff very friendly and attentive, my husband ordered steak which was quite tough so explained this to staff, a further steak was cooked to order which was gorgeous, I had lamb shank which I would recommend. Will definitely return
Very good service from the team and amazing food from the chefs in a lovely welcoming atmosphere. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Nottingham
There was hardly any food left -even though we hadn't been able to book a later table. The roast dinners had no beef, lamb or chicken left leaving only belly pork. The mains we had a choice of Caesar salad or fish and chips as no burgers. Vegetarian options were available. The waiting staff were lovely but the reduced food options really spoilt the experience.
Great food attentive staff good value really enjoyable Sunday lunch
The food is always excellent. Every generation of our family chooses to eat there. Our only criticism is that the people serving do not always show the same level of commitment or professionalism as the chef's. Otherwise faultless.
Lovely food and the service was very good too, everything was home cooked and the portions were a good size too. Thanks we'll come again!
The food was good, the place wasin a good location with a nice setting and the staff were bubbly and accommodating when we asked to move to a table away from thr door as it was a cold day.
Overall very happy with the food and the service, we had a great Sunday lunch. The staff were very helpful, and the food delicious as always.
Lovely place and food. Service was excellent. We had a really nice Sunday roast and portions were very generous and the meal was beautifully cooked.
Great quality food and hospitality, selection let it down for us. But overall would recommend. A lovely building located in a great area directly next to the castle.
Great evening, all staff were very helpful and cheerful. Food and drink were great and good value compared to other places which can be overpriced.
The restaurant is lovely and has a great atmosphere. The food was ok, nothing special, but this may have been what we ordered as the lamb and pork belly looked very good from what I saw on other tables. We live and learn
Food was well cooked and presented, although not sure why the chef thought slow roasted belly pork with a very generous amount of crackling required extra crackling on the side. It was far too much fat! And my daughter struggled to find the wild mushrooms in her almond and wild mushroom pasta dish! We were given a very nice table, there was good ambience and service, very reasonably priced food and wine. Let down by very limited and uninspiring menu, I really struggled to find something I wanted and won't go again until they change the menu.
Service was absolutely flawless, the food superb, and the atmosphere fantastic! We shall definitely be returning in the (hopefully) not too distant future. Thoroughly recommended.
very helpful staff, good location and they made sure that we were well looked after for the entire evening. The range of drinks is also good.
We met some friends there for Sunday Lunch and the food and the service was excellent. The dinner came with plenty of meat, homemade stuffing, a massive Yorkshire pudding and a medley of vegetables. The only tip I have is to wear warm clothes as the restaurant was cold due to the old style draughty windows.
