Tasty food. Good friendly service. Sunday lunches served throughout the afternoon. Two minor points , my husband and son said they would have liked one more roast potato, two wasn't quite enough. The sticky toffee pudding tasted nice, but more like ginger sponge and personally I think it would be better served with Vanilla ice cream or custard than chocolate ice cream. But overall we enjoyed our visit, it was hassle free and we would return.
Very good Sunday lunch here recently. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food was excellent and hot ,good selection of beers kept well, One very small word to the chef ,more veg please next time we come .
Really friendly welcome from the new owners. Great menu choices too and very flavoursone food. The only thing we did notice was the prices have gone up massively since we last visited here. We would go again but probably only on special occasions.
Meal was excellent, I had a gammon steak which was very thick and tasty, came with two eggs and chunky chips, the only downside was we were the only people dining although it was mid week.
Great pub food in a cosy, welcoming environment. The menu is simple but there should be something to appeal to everyone. The service was friendly and good.
We were made to feel very welcome and treated like royalty! Good food, friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for looking after us.
We found the staff to be very friendly and service very good. Food a good standard. Bar area welcomed dogs, bowl of water provided. Overall good atmosphere
Really good Sunday lunch with all the trimmings, we were made to feel very welcome and there was water for the dogs and no problems in them being there. Great experience.
Amazing Sunday lunch! We went for the platter for two which was perfect in size, great roast potatoes and lovely cauliflower cheese, with lovely Yorkshire puddings. The only thing I can possibly say could be better were the plates which were a bit wobbly - it made cutting the meat a challenge!
Lovely place with a tasteful and clean interior, and a restful feel to it. The food was spot on - tasty, fresh, well cooked - perfect for my tastes and we will definitely return. The only slight thing was that the staff were slow to clear the tables, and glasses and dishes remained piled up even when they brought out dessert. Not a major thing, but having small children I'm always aware things can get yanked off the table, and it's better aesthetically to have things cleared up quickly! Wouldn't put us off at all, we'll be back.
It would have been a lot better with a few freshly cooked veg. But there was no veg at all. A very nice meat pie. Excellent sticky toffee pudding. The staff were very pleasant. Very expensive.
Excellent service, very nice environment and ambience... and glorious food. The steak and ale pie must be the best ever - and I've made it my mission in life to find the best! The chunky chips are as good as you'll get too. This is a place you will want to re-visit and keep on visiting. Not cheap, but quality food in a nice place. Can be a bit far to travel to unless in York or near York, but worth the trip. (Driffield)
I have visited on a number of occasions and mainly had good food and service. Sadly I think there has been a change in chef and staff, which leaves me less inclined to return.
Glad I booked well in advance as it was very busy, chosen as a place to meet for Sunday lunch, excellent. I didn't know the place just chose it off the internet.
Had better meals, food over cooked & dry,not much choice for a vegetarian, not very good value for money no atmosphere in place, would not recommend
The food was excellent but we could have done with a bit more meat and a few more roast potatoes with the roast dinners for the price.
Lovely lunctime menu. Great service and good prices. Restaurant area looks nice for an evening occasion. Will go back to try the evening experience. Outdoor area pleasant for sunshine drinking .
Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent choice of menu and food prepared to a very high standard. Will definitely recommend to friends and will go again in the future.
Good food and great service. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was of a good standard. We will definitely go back again
We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch, which was beautifully cooked and presented. The menu was varied and offered us a good choice. The service was excellent and all the staff were well presented, cheerful, polite and attentive. The ambiance was good, the pub was warm and welcoming. We would recommend the Duke of York and will be returning, perhaps for an evening meal or another Sunday lunch with the family.
we had Really great time was really nice food was well presented on plate -all nice and fresh.we also had attentive bar staff would go again
Decent pub grub and service, though nothing special - which is a shame because last time we went here last year we thought it was excellent.
Food was delicious and staff were friendly and professional. One small comment, A device to stop the kitchen door banging would be nice. Overall a really nice experience.
Excellent food and customer service. Some items on the menu a bit prices perhaps but otherwise all round good experience. Plenty of car parking. Will eat and drink there again.
A warm welcome and a very nice meal. The beef was especially good, although some more vegetables would've been nice. Maybe a tad expensive? Steak and ale pie is fantastic ( on the previous visit) .
Excellent food, great menu choice, attentive staff and with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Will be a regular meeting place from now on. What a fabulous find!
Really enjoyed Sunday Lunch at the Duke of York. Lovely country pub and restaurant with a varied good value menu, very friendly staff, great service will definitely return.
Good hot meal. Attractively presented on hot plates. Good value for money. Felt as though we were well looked after. All of my party enjoyed the experience.
Great food, great staff, relaxed atmosphere. A step up from your normal good pub grub in a nice setting. All my party were impressed with whole experience. Thanks
Sunday Lunch. Food was good maybe could have been a little warmer. Family next to us came in with a dog!? Don't mind dog friendly pubs (dog owners ourselves) but dogs should be in the Bar area not where people are eating.
Great food and service. Came for lunch on a Friday lunchtime with family. Would recommend the fish finger sandwhiches. Great atmosphere, warm welcome and friendly staff.
It only didn't get full marks as we seemed to be invisible when we arrived and were ignored/overlooked but this was remedied by a stroppy husband. Food was really good and once service started it was good.
We went for Sunday lunch and there was a good choice of food on the menu and food was lovely. Good service and a nice atmosphere.
We reserved a table at this lovely pub and restaurant on our way home from visiting the East coast. We were given a very warm welcome and shown to our table quickly. We ordered our meals ; my husband choosing from the specials board & I chose from the menu. Both meals were plentiful and absolutely delicious. We will definitely call there again in the future and recommend it to our friends and family.
Excellent meal out for all 5 of us with 5 main meals and 5 desserts ordered, the only reason it did not get full marks was that 2 of us ordered the belly pork and both said it was fantastic except for the sage mash of which both left over 50% of it!! But will definitely eat again at the Duke of York.
Lovely food, great service, friendly staff and ambience. We will look forward to returning very soon. The menu is varied but not over co placated and the food was freshly cooked.
We had lovely food and wine at the duke of york last night. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back.
Friendly staff and great food! I have been a few times now and the level of service is consistent. They also change the menu from time to time to keep it a little varied for the customers. I can recommend it for meals with friends or family. Nice atmosphere!
We ate at the Duke of York on Saturday night. Despite it being very cold outside the room was cosily warm and the coal fire added to the pleasant atmosphere. The service was attentive and the food was served very promptly. Both us enjoyed excellent food for each three courses.
The Inn has been tastefully refurbished.Good menu with ample choice and reasonable price.Seemed some time waiting for food to arrive but well cooked and presented.
Really good food with excellent service, we will certainly go again soon and recommend to others without hesitation. Booked in on line with no difficulty.
The menu is great and it changes regularly, normally on a seasonal basis. The staff are welcoming and nicely attentive. We have eaten there six times now and have never been disappointed. The prices are sensible so not to expensive to eat out.
We had a long wait, 40 minutes for the food to arrive, I asked if the speaker just behind my head could be switched off. As we were the only people in I did not think this was unreasonable. The waitress went away to find out but did not come back and the music remained which made talking with my elderly father difficult. I paid the bill on cash £40 which I handed over at the bar to pay our bill which came to £38.40. I was not given any change. I would probably have said keep the change but it was not offered. The meal was OK and we enjoyed what we had but was disappointed with the rest. The pub was also quite cold.
Excellent food, good service, lovely surroundings, definitely worth another visit. Easy to book on line and given a lucky envelope for next visit in January, we will be back
from stepping into the duke of york the welcome was excellent and the food mouth watering ,the staff were excellent this made a relaxing night
Varied menu Good quality food, cooked to order and served very hot. Monday very quiet but weekends and later in the week booking is recommended.
The new menu offers some of the most flavoursome food we have had for a long time and is well priced. Food and drink service was excellent.
Pleasant atmosphere lovely staff. Had run out of the burger that one of us wanted but it was 815pm so late on. Otherwise a lovely evenig
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch but found it disappointing that there was no price reduction on 'small' portions for our elderly parents (83yrs old) .
Lovely food, really nice restaurant, good wine and the service was excellent.there is a modern bar area and there is plenty of parking. what more can I say!
