Côte Winchester

It was disappointing experience at Cote this weekend. We arrived promptly at the restaurant for our booking, The order was taken and drinks arrived. The food then arrived roughly 40 minutes later. which for breakfast is simply inexcusable. even if the restaurant was busy (?) that's not our fault that the staffing was incorrect. It was a shame as some of the food was tepid at best, but we feared that it would take too long to get a server over let alone the issue resolved. we were offered extra drinks during the meal, but felt so urstrated that bit the time the food has arrived out initial drinks were long gone that we had no desire to order any more. It is a shame as we have enjoyed all our visits to Cote before, but this was by far the worst.

Really enjoyed the food. paying was a bit difficult as each person wanted to pay for their own food and this seemed to be a major problem at the till..... the process became quite confused and took ages for each person to pay.... However when I tried to pay for mine including the olives and bread I had had there did not seem to be a record of the bread and olives so the lady only charged me for my main meal and said these are 'On the House' so thankyou. We shall return despite the slow service!!

Food was as usual, service was dismal... really slow even though the restaurant wasn’t even half full?! Not sure we will be back this time

Great food, service was good overall but after delivering mains they did not come to take a drinks order despite us asking for the wine menu

Cote Winchester, always a warm welcoming atmosphere and staff who clearly enjoy making an evening just a little more fabulous.

We had a lovely evening. The food and service was excellent. Lovely atmosphere.

We have been customers of the restaurant since it opened. We have had lots of good meals and some not so good, BUT TONIGHT THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC WHICH WAS NICE ESPECIALLY AS IT WAS OUR 44TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. looking forward to going back before Christmas.🍸😄

Had a delicious lunch with friends. Always a winner in every way at Cote. Would thoroughly recommend. Will be back soon.

Eating at Cote is always reliable, tasty and good value

Nice restaurant and good service overall but.....my steak was tough. I mentioned it to 2 members of staff and one just said "oh" and the other apologised vaguely.

Good food and generally good service, although it did tail off towards the end when we wanted to pay the bill.

The food was nice at best but the service was dreadful, slow and rude. I took my sister for a treat for her 40th birthday but I wouldn’t go back or recommend it... it wasn’t the start we wanted for her birthday celebrations

Firt time tried Winchester branch but happy it was as good as all the others tried. Obviously very popular in spite of all the very good local competition.

Always enjoy Cote but the staff at a Winchester elevate dining to an extra special experience

We were welcomed. We were given a lovely table (as requested) so that our conversation could not be overheard, nor us hear others. The food was great - and well presented. The staff were lovely, professional, kind.

Delicious food and good service. I was happy especially with children meals, finally well cooked, non-greasy fish and generous portions.

We visit Cotes Winchester quite often and are never disappointed. We have also tried Cotes in London and other cities and the food and service are consistently to a good standard. Wine is good too.

Good food as usual. Meal took rather a long time and children did not get anything to eat till adults got to their main course.

Great service as always, and food was beautiful, although we had a little surprise when the crepes arrived soaking in liquid cream (not described on menu). Manager reacted to perfection to our feedback. Thank you!

Nice pre theatre set menu. Good service and standard of food. Good choice and value for money and nice ambience. Will be back.

As usual, Cote was a lively, yet relaxed, atmosphere, and a great place for a catch-up lunch with a friend. We talked and talked but weren’t made to feel guilty for staying a bit longer than we should!

What a terrible visit. Loads of the menu unavailable including soup, calamari, anything deep fried and even the minute steak. What did come was disappointing and uninspiring, unmemorable dishes. A shame as this was a long time planned family get together but we won’t be returning.

It's the second time that we have eaten at Cote. The food is great, and very tasty. The staff are attentive but not overbearing and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We consider Cote to be a great find!

Service was exceptional, food was delicious and we would love to eat there again.

Excellent Food. I had the pork belly, my wife had steak and frites. Really really tasty.

We were early but a table was already ready for us which was brilliant! Waitress was very patient as we had a late arrival but she expressed it was no trouble at all. Food was very good and very reasonably priced!

Every aspect was good as usual but I get irritated that I have to do a written review each time.

Group of 3 friends eating from main menu so got free French Martini. Set & Prestige menus also looked good and were tempting. All went for Specials Crab bisque starter which was very good - liked the cheese puffs on the side. For mains, one friend had the Haddock Special & another her favourite pork belly, whilst I had the Herb Chicken Supreme Special. Found this a bit disappointing. Very small leg portion, so lot of bone, though good flavour with bacon wrap. Menu said served with Jerusalem artichokes which I took to be undercooked new potatoes on the plate, with spinach and a mustard sauce. Not what I understand by Chicken Supreme. Others enjoyed theirs and, as still a bit hungry, I had chocolate mousse for desert, which was rich & delicious. Would probably have been better off from the set menu & paid for the martini! Busy, warm and on the whole a good evening. Service good but slowed between starter & main. All dishes hot.
