This was our first visit to the Winchester restaurant. We have eaten at Cote Basingstoke where the food is of a good standard, but, the eating experience is spoilt because the restaurant is very noisy and normal conversation isn't possible - you need to shout to make yourself heard and with no pause between courses the meal has felt rather rushed. What a difference at Winchester. The staff couldn't have been more freindly and welcoming. We never felt rushed and we could chat and whileaway the evening with great food and a glass of wine. Rest assured we'll be back soon.
Great food and service. Only complaint would be they need blinds along the window on the right hand side of the back part of the restaurant on the ground floor as it was very warm in the sun. Would recommend for a lovely family lunch though
As usual we had a very enjoyable meal, the food is always good at Cote. The staff we always find to be attentive and make us feel so welcome and polite. It is a joy to eat at Cote and is excellent value for what you pay!!!
Birthday meal, Excellent service - very happy with the overall experience
We were welcomed with a warm and professional manner The waiter was very friendly and helpful He was cheerful and engaged with our conversation Our table was in a lovely position and we were glad we had made a reservation as it is always popular
Our first visit to Cote Winchester didn't go very well, so thought we'll give them a second chance. This time the complimentary rhubarb martinis were excellent and so was the onion soup. Asparagus starter was average and the mains arrived yet again! really late, close to closing time. The staff apologised and took the wine off the bill but this should have not happened in the first place. Overall, very disappointed again!
By far the best meal we have ever had at Côte, the food was perfect, service was attentive, friendly, profecional . Thank you for a lovely experience
As usual, the food matched the service: a perfect balance between tasteful and relaxed. The drinks list is very suitable and expanded on when further knowledge is requested, and how can you beat such a historic but contemporary location. Honest comments, not being paid!!!
Was a good atmosphere with very good service, the food was well cook and very enjoyable. The waiting time were very good, the right length between each course. The food was good value for money. In all was a lovely and enjoyable restaurant with good food and drinks.
Although I booked online to receive the monthly offer of a free G&T when ordering from the a la carts menu when we arrived at the restaurant we were told that the booking didn’t say this. This was very embarrassing but sorted out eventually only after I booked the table again online, I’m sure this could have been sorted out much better than it was.
Excellent experience well worth the visit good food exceptional service Ethan and Ion were particularly helpful pleasant and professional
It was overpriced for what it was and the portion sizes were small. The food came out super quick but this isn’t a good thing as most of what we ordered could have been cooked at home with a lot higher standard.
Not our best experience today for breakfast , usually the service and food are better, in fact the formula deal is excellent but today food items were forgotten and the toast was cold and soft. The Fried eggs were over cooked. It’s a shame
very friendly and efficient service. starters and desserts delicious. the boeuf en croute was a bit dry ...where was the jus?...but tasty and the peas with the chicken were overcooked. a bit disappointed that the cocktails were only available with a La carte items. Last time they weren't!
The meal, wine, service and ambience were excellent and the price reasonable. What more could you want?! A very pleasant early evening meal before strolling down to the cinema.
We've eaten at Cote Brasserie - Winchester a number of times and each has been as good as the last. I would always recommend this restaurant to others.
Friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of food at sensible prices. Will definitely come again.
Yet again - the staff were totally oblivious of the fact that the cocktails went with the booking so requiring me to point this out. The staff seemed to comprise three young men one of whom looked very bedraggled. There were no uniformed waiting staff on duty - the hallmark of Cote. The atmosphere suffers as a result. Food was good but does seem to have lost some of its panache. Service was rather rushed an not up to the attentive standards we used to enjoy.
The service provided by all the staff was excellent, in particular our main waiter Ethan who was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The food was superb, arguably the best meal, as a whole, I've ever had in over 30 years of dining out. Well done to everyone and please pass on my thanks to the chef and their kitchen team. You all looked after us brilliantly and contributed to a brilliant 60th birthday for my wife.
An excellent evening, maybe tables are a bit close together.
Enjoyable as always, this being my umpteenth visit. Tiny issues, would have liked a soup spoon for my soup( probs bit snobby), and poached egg for husbands starter was very cool. Super swift service but at the expense of cool but should have been hot egg. French onion soup was fab. Waiters very helpful and friendly maybe a little too so ......asked at least three or four times. But being very picky. Lovely vibe in the restaurant, busy as always. Would I go back , of course! Great food as always.
We love the food at Cote, but on this occasion our duck and dauphinois potatoes were only lukewarm. The staff were very good and dealt with it well. I look forward to a better meal next time.
Delicious food, great service and reasonable prices, Cote is a firm favourite with us. They have a superb menu with something for everyone, plus a wonderful ambience. It's always a pleasure.
The service at Cotes is exemplary and the food is first class. Especially the cream caramel dessert, not to be missed. We are regulars what more can I say
Amazing! Always perfect food!! The staff are great and always happy. We love to come here for a treat and we are never let down.
Lunchtime rendezvous at Côte, Winchester. Welcomed and shown to our reserved table. From there on, service was on the slow side. Never before have I had to ask for the complimentary tap water! Even once our order was taken it seemed ages for our starter to arrive. However on a positive note the food was good, though I did feel the my icrecream and chocolate sauce was considerably smaller than on previous occasions.
Winchester Cote as usual didn't disappoint. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our ,meal, the ambience and the excellent service. Don't change anything at all.
Great experience in a lovely relaxing no hurry atmosphere. Food served lovely hot and exceptional.
Excellent surroundings. Friendly staff with just the right attitude. Delicious food and such good value. This was my daughter and granddaughter's first visit to a Cote and they were very impressed. Well done
Loved this restaurant and will definitely be going back. Great menu and lots of gluten free options. Loved the style of the restaurant and the service, from start to finish, was excellent - professional and friendly. Well done Cote, Winchester!
Great food, fab professional and polite staff and service, 12.5% optional gratitude automatically included in final bill. Could have been discussed. Though we would come again.
Friendly staff, well presented good quality food in comfortable surroundings. We were meeting up with friends that we do not see very often so it was pleasant to have a chat without noise around us and at no point did we feel rushed to leave. After clearing the table the staff discreetly withdrew.
Hi – we had a really great evening at Cote Brasserie last night and will definitely return. There were 6 of us in our party and we visit Cote Brasserie a good number of times a year together, and separately too – it’s definitely a favoured restaurant of ours. However, last night’s experience was marred by lukewarm food. Up until last night, we’ve always had good hot food, so it must be either down to kitchen equipment last night, or kitchen staff, so we only pass this information to you… a) because you have asked for feedback, and b) we think the kitchen staff should know. I believe there were 3 or 4 soups ordered, two of which were lukewarm. Then there were 4 chicken Parmentier dishes ordered, all four were lukewarm and although tasty, were very disappointing. The member of staff attending our table took one of the chicken dishes away to heat it up, but by the time the wait staff returned, the rest of us with the chicken dishes were at least half way through. Having said all of the above, the staff were faultless and we were indeed compensated, for which we are grateful. Again, we would not have complained but, the fact is I made the booking for last night’s ‘get together’ with our friends quite a way ahead, as we wanted to request the table in the upstairs bow window. I was told that was fine, but when we arrived last night we were told the table was not available now, as we were 6 and a party of 8 had come in. We ought, we believe, to have been offered some kind of compensation at that time. But, as I say, I would not have mentioned this but for the fact of the many tepid dishes we were served last night. So our disappointment is definitely with the lukewarm food. But, even tho we come from a way outside of Winchester to meet up with each other, we will continue to do so. For your interest we travelled from Upper Chute which is a 25 mile distance, from Goodworth Clatford and also from Chilbolton. We hope your kitchen staff are able to use our comments constructively.
Great meal excellent service good atmosphere. My daughter is coeliac and we could not fault the way she was looked after. The manager made sure the choices were correct and then made sure they were delivered to the table, nothing was too much trouble. If you are coeliac you should go here to eat as you can do so with confidence.
While the food and service was excellent, the overall experience was somewhat marred by the emails that were received beforehand - particularly the emphasis on the fact that the table was booked for 60 mins! Do you realise how that then affects the experience. We chose Côte Brasserie out of many other choices because we (usually) find it relaxing. Having received these emails it was impossible to ignore the fact that our hour was approaching - even though most of that timing depended on how efficiently we were served - but ultimately the fact we had been told we were on this schedule ruined the overall experience. If this is stated in the future we will not be returning. No mention incidentally was made of this at time of booking. I booked online and the booking confirmation that came back just stated the start time. If it had have stated the 60 mins at that point I would have cancelled and booked somewhere else.
Choice of food was varied and extensive. I had Mussels followed by Bretton Chicken which was excellent. The service was professional without being intrusive. Overall a very pleasant lunch experience
Absolutely amazing, the lady who greeted and served us was lovely, kind and efficient and put my mind at ease. I had been rushing and worrying trying to get there on time and as soon as I got there all my worries went away. Thank you so much for letting us have such a special evening.
Our evening was as lovely as usual. The food was excellent, the rhubarb martinis were fabulous and our waiter was exceptional. Another wonderful evening.
Great service! Love the friendly waiters in this restaurant - always a nice experience
lunch menu - good food and nice prices One of the best places to eat in Winchester. Sometimes the brasserie id fully books, so bare it in mind!
Food standard very good, worth the wait which was a little more than the expected, but not a problem as pleasant atmosphere. Looking forward to going again.
Great welcome on arrival with fantastic service by our waiter and very good food. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone of my friends and family.
We love eating at Cotes Winchester and probably eat there once a month. The service is always great and the food superb. We were a little disappointed during this visit as some of the breakfast items weren't available, but otherwise a very pleasant visit
We were entertaining a business friend: enjoyed the meal and the occasion and, on the whole, the service was excellent - except that I twice felt we'd been forgotten or overlooked. We waited a long while for a starter at the beginning of the meal: the member of staff apologised when it was finally brought to the table so I think it had been sitting ready somewhere and only suddenly spotted; and then we were left rather a while with the desert menus. Otherwise all was very pleasant. Other minus point, as always, is the noise level but I suppose we probably have to expect that at a popular restaurant.
Tasty food and excellent service, all for a reasonable price
Always great food, excellent service, good prices & nice ambiance. Cotes is always my first choice for meals with friends/family in Winchester. Always lovely. Love it.
The meal was excellent and my parents enjoyed it hugely. It was my second breakfast in 2 days.
A great welcome, and very good friendly service from Tim. Not hurried at all, plenty of tine at our table for a long leisurely Sunday lunch
Fantastic meal from beginning to end. Friendly and helpful staff made it a special night out.
Lovely meal, we (4) all had two courses, very well presented. Service - the tall young male waiter was delightful and nothing was too much trouble All together an excellent experience. Tuesday evening 19th February
