Lovely food lovely staff and great atmosphere. I think the chef in St Albans is a particularly good one. We keep going back again and again. It’s our happy place!
A lovely meal as always for five of us on Mothers Day. The service was slower than usual but to be expected on such a busy day.
We found the menu, food, service and value to be very good. Our only negative was being kept waiting at the entrance for a table, for too long. This will put us off a return for sometime
We were a party of 17 people. I was very impressed that all the dishes were high quality and appeared quickly, without any mistakes. The staff were lovely too. Great evening, thanks
A good experience from when we arrived until we left. The service was good, the food was good and the wine went well with the food.
Had a fantastic meal as usual. Fantastic food fantastic service.
A few minor issues at the beginning and an indifferent waiter were quickly rectified by a fabulous waitress. Food very good and everyone left with a full tummy
Last night of our honeymoon and the waitress made the night really special. Lovely service, delicious food.
Really good tasty presentable food met the chefs and gave them my compliments on all the food prepared for our table on the night thank you
Thank you for a perfect evening of good food and good speedy service for my 44 guests at my leaving party. Everyone had positive comments about the food and venue. Thank you
Super birthday lunch including complimentary Prosecco and ice cream dessert ... thank you to all the Cote B staff for making our afternoon so lovely.
Fantastic food as always and great service. The sea bass was cooked to perfection. Great cocktails, the terrace area is nice but could do with a little refurb. Thank you
Always enjoy my dinners at Côte Brasserie... this was the 2nd time to visit the St Albans branch.. food always great only downside was we had quite a wait till order was taken ... staff were scarce to the point one from my party went to the bar herself to order her drink .. to avoid further waiting ... being mindful it was a Sunday evening so it was very quiet. everything else was good.
A lovely meal with friends. Attentive staff & very good food.
Wonderful early summers evening spent on the terrace. Staff were friendly and accommodating as always - they remade my cocktail without egg white as I have an egg intolerance. A lovely cocktail, incredible food and all round great service and ambiance as always.
As always great food, great service, good atmosphere, first visit to Saint Albans but no complaints. I’m sure if we are in the area again we will return
Food very good. Service not at usual standard. Asked for ketchup and fresh napkin but neither arrived. Waited so long to order desert we gave up. Also asked for a little bit of bread to go with starter and charged for it, seems very mean.
Food always good well cooked fresh, well presented and very authentic. Service is excellent friendly and professional . We always enjoy our favourites French Onion soup , steak tartare, fish stew Chocolate fondant. All delicious and value for money.
Fantastic food as always and great customer service! Consistently good restaurant.
I’m afraid by my experience wasn’t great, at all. The sirloin steak, which I order rare, arrived just after few minutes and it was raw and cold. My girlfriend order was also very badly microwaved. For the price of the food I would expected much more. Very disappointed. I’m sorry.
As ever, Côte proved a dependable place for a good-value, well-cooked lunch - generous portions on the set menu, too. Altogether an enjoyable experience.
I am so happy that I decided to celebrate my birthday meal here. The food, atmosphere and service was excellent.
Enjoyed our stay with a Great atmosphere ,friendly staff and tasty food. Good value for money. Highly recommended. Also good to go around and discover the town.
Very good service. The food was very good. I had the roast pork. My husband had a steak and my mother had the veal chop. The steak was cooked to perfection. Thank you for a lovely Easter lunch.
Great food and great value for money. Slightly quiet for a Tuesday evening but the service was Great. Would definitely go back soon. The wine offer was great and I would highly recommend.
Very busy and we appeared to get off on the wrong foot, however the lady in charge of our table rectified this very swiftly and we enjoyed 4 complimentary gin and tonics. The food was excellent, the menu choice as always is very good, the only problem is trying to decide what to choose. We ate from both the March specials menu, a la carte and the 2/3 course fixed price menu. We all ate different courses and each one looked very tasty.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch at Cote Brasserie on Saturday. The food was beautifully cooked and served by courteous and efficient staff. Nothing marred our enjoyment. We would certainly visit again.
Very enjoyable breakfast this morning. A couple of friends and me had a great spot outside in the garden with the sun on our backs. Service was excellent and food was great. The value here is exceptional.
Good food, good service and good value. Will come again.
Great food, as always staff so sociable and warm! Love xx
Lovely martini and Asparagus starters. I then had a lovely Swordfish steak but unfortunately my friend had a Lamb Chop which was gristly and undercooked.

Lovely lunch again. Food and service was very good as it was a week ago when I visited for dinner. There was a slight delay in serving the olives and the water was forgotten but was quickly brought when asked. This was not a problem as my friend and I were in no hurry. We both had the salmon starter which was very tasty and the minute steak which was also very good. I chose the apple tart for desert with the vanilla ice cream and again was scrumpy. Also good atmosphere for a Saturday lunchtime.
It was all delicious Service was efficient and fast Food was good Wine was a. It over-priced but otherwise it was a good experience We have been to Cote in other cities. And equally good food and service and slightly expensive wine!
Was able to get a table at short notice on a Saturday night. It was warm and welcoming. Waiting staff were attentive while being able to eat in peace, not rushed even when the restaurant was busy and no waiting on courses and the food was good quality
Food was very good though the service was a little slow.
Delicious breakfast great food and good value, love going. The breakfast and lunch offers are fab so great excuse to treat yourself!! Had the crepe breakfast for the first time... it was amazing.
the food was incredible as was the service. I had the lamb which was so tender I almost didn't need a knife to cut it. this was served on mashed potato and petite pois which were sweet and tender. I decided to have the banana & chocolate crepe which was pre-made. The meal was finished off by a superbly made Irish coffee. The portions could perhaps be a little bigger but on the whole I definitely would come again.
My experience was a bit flat - something felt missing from this restaurant. The waiter was pleasant enough but the food was really disappointing: the squid to start was a bit ‘deep fried’ greasy, and because of this I suspected it was cooked from frozen. However, most disappointing was the beef bourguignon - no shallots, no chunky veg - just a small-portioned bowl of salty beef. If I was being unkind I’d say that it looked like half a tin of stewing steak had been emptied onto my plate; a more generous description would be to say that what was there was OK. I guess I’m just disappointed - the price is high enough for them to do a better job (£16 for my main). I like Cote and I expected more, based off previous visits. I hope this is a blip and they’re not slipping into that dreaded third phase of the restaurant lifecycle - decline; after growth and consolidation. It’s the path we see so often when chains get too big and just focus on the bottom line, rather than just enjoying doing what made them popular in the first place. I’m not sure whether I’ll go back. I don’t go out that often (young children) and if it’s 50/50 whether I’ll get a decent meal it may not be worth the risk. Shame, really.
Upon arrival the person greeting us tried to seat us at a table in the front window in an entirelty deserted and "cold" area of the restaurant, I understand how diners visible through the window attracts other customers in but it the diredct cost to the first two who's experienced would be blighted by the complete lack of atmosphere and iscolation. I asked to be seated at a table firther into the restaaurnat hwere there was a nuimber of other guests and a very convivial and hospitable buizz and atmosphere. The two Elderflower Gin & Tonics (the subject of this month's promotion) were delivered upon request. Neither had any effervesance whatsoeer and I can only conclude that the tonic water used was devoidof gas. Additionally the glasses were both sticky suggesting that one of the indredients, some sort of syrup (?) had been spilled down the outside of the gleass when ithey were being prepared. I asked for them to be changed and the replacements were in clean glasses but the drinks were not much more sparkling than the first ones. But they were acceptable and enjoyable to drink. Except for the ridiculously small half filled pots of accompanying sauces (chaged for separately) for the Breton Chicken, the food and wine was excellent in all respects - the coffee too. We were served by a really excellent waiter "Dillon" who really made our evening. Only the two issues mentioned at the beginning of this reviewed prevented me from awarding you 6 stars!
Always good service and the lunchtime special is always fabulous value for money. Served promptly so you can go in your lunch hour without fear of rushing
Four of us had a two course lunch and each course was delicious.
Went for breakfast as a couple. Lovely food within a good deal. Good service as waiters/ waitresses were very attentstive. Highly recommend for breakfast/ brunch. Will definitely be back.
Always a good meal/service/value - recent visit was a big birthday - thank you.
We received a warm welcome and the staff were generally attentive. We dined early and the restaurant was pleasantly quiet to start with, once it got busier it got very noisy and it was hard to hear each other. The staff naturally also got busier. The food was excellent, we all enjoyed our meals. The only oddity was after ordering desserts we were asked about coffee and an espresso was ordered. It then came immediately long before our desserts, we had expected it after the desserts, or at least at the same time. As it was such a short drink it would have been stone cold if we had left it to drink at the appropriate stage of the meal.
being regulars we both ordered the wrong dishes insofar as the asparagus was 'salty' but was remedied. the tuna was presented in sauce[rather than plain grilled ] and my lamb chops were chops rather than cutlets. our fault for not reading the menu in detail !!

Nice Valentines evening, lovely menu and wines, nice friendly staff. The fish was delicious, deserts also scrumptious. May have been a good touch to add a flower to the table!
Excellent and attentive staff Very good food throughout the three courses of calamari, salmon, lamb and roast duck finished off with the delicious creeps Grand Marnier Much appreciated the free wine and desert for my birthday Nice premises very comfortable

As a regular Cote diner, I like the food, ambience & particularly the friendliness of all staff. As a regular tipper however, I was recently perturbed & disappointed to be told that the 12.5% optional service charge is still being utilised by management to pay staff wages; in other words not being distributed to staff in ADDITION to contracted wage rates. I understood this practice had ended. Please let me know if this is not the case.
Food was good, waitress not particularly friendly. Table booked for 5 people. With a free £6 cocktail per person. Disappointed that there wasn't a soft drink alternative for the drivers, irresponsible and also wouldn't have cost anymore.
Pleasant meal but expensive for what it is; it wouldn't cost much more to include some vegetables or to offer 'free' bread to start the meal. It was quite noisy and crowded in the restaurant so why additional 'music' was on adding to this is annoying and unnecessary. Waiting staff were attentive and helpful and food was tasty and hot. Adding 12.5% service on is really too much and is greedy; 10% is acceptable. It can be difficult when with a group of people to start discussing and amending this so we paid it, reluctantly.
EXCEPTIONAL EVENING!! The staff at the St Albans restuarant were outstanding. It was my mums birthday, and she was treated to a drink on arrival, and the staff sung her happy birthday, whilst presenting her dessert with a candle on top. It made our evening that extra bit special. Additionally the food was delicious, so flavoursome and very prompt. Overall a great atmosphere, friendly and approachable staff members, and a great evening. Thanks everyone, you should be very proud.
Great service and food. Always love Cotes X we got a special martini for free for booking online in February. Blood orange martini... delicious! Will be back soon!
- Food was good , - a little expensive .
