Cote St Albans is a lovely restaurant and we have visited several times over the past few years. Never had a bad experience. Food is good and the staff are always excellent. Recommended.

We really enjoyed our meal, prepared and served beautifully. The sea bass with fennel was delicious. One of our party had the veal, and one had lamb, also excellent. Service was good and friendly.

Good quality chain, food and serice. Above average but with prices to match. £137 for family of 4 with added ‘optional’ service of 12.5%. Expensive

Four of us enjoyed dining outside in the courtyard. Food was good (calamari deliciously crunchy), there's a decent choice of wines, and service was charming.

The restaurant was busy but we were greeted quickly and politely and given a choice of tables. We chose the set menu which had plenty of seasonal choices and was very good value. The food was excellent, full of flavour and attractively presented. The wine was lovely too. We return to Cote St Albans regularly because it gives us a high quality experience at an excellent price.

Good food and service as always. Was out with a group of friends one of whom is "semi" vegetarian and there was enough of a choice on the menu to meet requirements.

We had a lovely meal at Cote. The pork belly is highly recommended. The crackling was nice and crisp. The waiter was very polite, but did not top up our sparkling wine. Despite this, we will definitely return.

Rather slow, indifferent service. Why is the service here so much worse than the Cote in Welwyn Garden City? When we asked for more water as the carafes had been emptied, they were not brought back until requested. It was hard to find a waiter to ask for the desert menu or the bill. The food was OK but the steak was stringy and overall it was very average for the price. There are better restaurants in this price bracket in St Albans.

Tuna steak was served well done and not per the menu which stated medium rare. Cobwebs in toilet too but we enjoyed the evening out.

The restaurant was very busy so service was a little slow. Our group chose quite widely from the menu and all of the food was very good. It was clean and comfortable.

Food quality was great as always but the good weather made the restaurant really busy and so we waited a bit longer than usual for our food. Love the venue and will definitely return but be mindful of waiting times if you are heading here with kids on a sunny weekend

Met expectations but didn’t exceed them. Would probably return but not for a special occasion as this evening was. (60th birthday). Food was reasonable but not wonderful.

We love the Cote anyway but last nights was one of the nicest meals I’d had. I had the Tomates Breton starter then Pan Fried Cod, which was cod wrapped in bacon, as a main course. I wasn’t sure about the latter but it was delicious. I finished off with the crumble aux peche and ice cream. They were off the Prestige Menu and only £18.95 for the 3 courses. There were plenty of other delicious dishes too if they didn’t take your fancy.

We had a really great meal here with friends, the food is superb, couldn't fault it. Being a chain I didn't think it could be that good, but it surpassed our expectations. The bread and olives were perfect and the bread (just cooked) divine. The menu is extensive and I am amazed that the food is so good as we are very fussy. Even better, Cote St. Albans has a beautiful large courtyard out back, much of which is covered with a glass roof, it is really lovely out there, but sadly the weather was not kind last night so we were inside. And this is the bugbear, it is soooooo hot & airless in the restaurant! That sadly is why I've given 5*'s and not 6, also it was so dark, my friend couldn't see the menu. They really, really need to open all the doors and windows to get some airflow through. It was a cool evening, not hot like we've had, so really no excuses! We all got our mini fans out and I can't eat when its hot and airless so only ordered a main, so they lost out there. I asked why they didn't put the air conditioning on but got some weird answer from the assistant manager about it being an old building or something. Well get some ceiling fans or something if no air con, but DO SOMETHING! Next door at Alloro, it's actually underground and yet so lovely and airy and cool in there, same age building, same block right next door, if they can do it, so can you! Otherwise really excellent meal, thank you.

Food was good, company great, service attentive - this is all I need at lunchtime. It is not expensive when you choose from the two or three course set menu. I had the chicken salad and sorbet, the chicken was lovely and tender and not over cooked.

The food was very tasty and the soup came piping hot. Unfortunately the main course was somewhat spoiled by it coming to us just warm and not on a hot plate. I would rather have more light in the restaurant as not every eating occasion is a romantic affair and older people often appreciate more light to enjoy a meal out. We recently had a meal in your garden and that was our best experience.

Breakfast not brilliant, eggs weren't cooked too well the the ketchup bottle exploded over my silvery white top. The staff were as helpful as they could be and adjusted the bill accordingly.

Nice atmosphere. Funnily enough though the food was quite garlicky, no matter which dish you picked. I also found my risotto to be very salty at times (I wonder whether the stock had clumped). Remember the 12.5% service charge is optional!

The service was pleasant and polite but very slow. We were sat on the outside terrace, the seating was dirty and scruffy, so we ended up sitting on our napkins. Food was good and the special menu provides excellent value for money.

Not been here for a long time as my previous experience wasn’t great. Glad to say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and good value. The service was ok but could have been a little more attentive or at least aware of people out in the garden as the evening wore on. Generally very good though and will definitely go again.
