On arrival, I would expect a more warm welcome ( not just a fake smile #didnt feel the love ) everyone ( the staff) could do with being a little more happier ( perhaps some cash incentives usually work) Being lunchtime and in a rush, we were on a short amount of time so clock watching a little bit, I got up to ask for the vegetarian menu and after 5 minutes of not receiving one i mentioned again. the food - beautiful arrived in good time, beautifully presented and great tasting.

Our time at St Albans was very good. The meal was good as alsso the service.

The restaurant was very welcoming. Clean and tidy. The staff were polite and efficient and the food was delicious.

I love the Cote in St Albans. The food is always excellent, service was good and friendly and even though it was a quiet Tuesday night, it was perfect.

Enjoyed the food. Luckily for us time was not of the essence, otherwise it could have been uncomfortable. Good atmosphere and will use again. This is the third outlet of the chain we have used and never disappointed.

We came after the early bid offer which was fine, service attentive, food fine, portions fine. But as vegetarians we asked to see the normal menu too so we had a more extensive choice. Last time we came, there was an extensive vege menu. This time, nothing much. That was extremely disappointing and we would not visit again unless there were more choice.

We only went because they were offering a special January offer, but it took them three attempts to actually get the bill right!

Food was very nice. Additional veg and bread made bill as expensive as 'normal' prices so offer was not as good as expected. Put off my food by seeing a chef scratching at his bits while chatting to his visiting friends - yuk! Hope he washed his hands!

Normally one of our favoured venues. Tonight there was a table of 8 who were so ridiculously loud that they impinged on everyone else’s evening! In particular the screeching of two women in particular spoilt the dining experience for many of us. 2 tables at least complained. Difficult because staff are not responsible for the behaviour of their customers but perhaps a quiet word might have been appropriate?

The staff were friendly and polite but our main course took well over an hour to be served and that was after we brought it to the waiters attention. We noticed that people seated after us were being served food before us. When it arrived it was fairly average. I probably won’t be rushing back

Service and Food very slow today. Normally food comes out quickly but they were busy and we had to wait for 1hr for Breakfast with a 1, 3, 5 & 7 year old! Got there at 11:15am so 10am is a better time for better service. Food always great so hopefully this was a blip!

The food is always delicious, wine list very good and reasonably priced, staff are always friendly and super helpful. Although table water refills could be more regular and the ladies loos could do with air freshener due to mustiness being on the lower ground floor. Lovely historic building, great atmostphere whether for breakfast, lunch, coffee or dinner. Is worth booking as often full especially for dinner.

Excellent food, service a bit slow & patchy. The table wasn't prepared for us when we sat down & we had to retrieve our own water glasses from an unoccupied table. However, minor inconvenience & we still enjoyed our lunch.

We are regular customer and it is always a good dining experience

The staff went the extra mile to be helpful and kind. I have a food intolerance and I was catered for individually without any fuss and I was not made to feel a nuisance. I felt really welcome and I was even given a free sample of the coffee after I had asked what it was! The only reason that I did not give 6 stars was that there were two girls talking very loudly at a nearby table, but that was not the restaurant's fault.

Lovely food with a wide choice menu. Good service & comfortable ambiance. Thoroughly enjoyable evening so much so we were there all evening! Best restaurant in St Albans.

My overall experience was disappointing due to my main course - Beef Stroganoff. Although the sauce was tasty, the beef was not strips it was chunks, extremely tough and sinewy and I would question if it was even filet? The tagliatelle was bright orange and very, very hard. I even struggled to cut through this pasta, what was the orange ingredient? I left most of my main course but unfortunately the staff did not question this. My table was also close to the coffee machine which was quiet when we were seated but after a few minutes the machine was very noisy, as if it was on a self-clean programme? There were no members of staff next to the machine at the time making coffee. This lasted for a good 10 minutes & I couldn't hear my guests' conversation until it eventually stopped...
