Côte St Albans

Very good meal. Sat in a lovely quiet area. Food and service was excellent. Had chicken, potatoes and veg, very tasty. Husband had sea bass and loved it. Lovely wine as well.

We went for lunch and chose the set two course option. The food was excellent, the waiters attentive but discreet, all in all an enjoyable experience representing good value for money. Would recommend.

It was my son's birthday I ordered a candle to come out with his dessert. No candle not even a happy birthday. X If I had a special occasion I would not book this restaurant.

Always great lunch deal, good service and child friendly. Excellent house wine and I would recommend especially if lunching mid week or brunch at weekend

We had the early set course menu. Good food and excellent value for money. Service good. A shame about the intrusive music. Would go again.

Waitress was a bit abrupt and got the wrong order twice, once on the starter and once on the dessert, neither did she smile once. She also handed food across myself to my friend, instead of from the side. Luckily no food was spilt.

On arrival we were allocated the seat we requested but from then on the service and the food were very average. The hot beetroot salad on the specials menu was rather crude and not well presented. The sauce in my pan baked haddock was quite thick and was beginning to congeal and the fish rather dry. My wife's green salad had some old and tired leaves and though it was removed from the bill, it should never have been served in the first place. The bun for the burger was not toasted and was a bit like a sponge. A rather disappointing meal which sent us for a coffee and dessert elsewhere. This restaurant is normally good for lunch mid-week, but was busy on a Sunday and the staff gave the appearance of being rushed.

This was our first visit we found a good selection on the menu and the service was excellent. When the restaurant opens in Harpenden we will be regulars.

We were given a table alongside a large noisy party but after asking for quieter table were given it without any problem and then had a very enjoyable meal

Whilst the food was just as excellent as ever we waited a long time to be seated (we had booked) and the restaurant was extremely hot so we felt uncomfortable.

Excellent service and food, much better than visits over the last year or so. We went back because of the free bottle of wine offer and were not expecting it to be great but pleasantly surprised

Lovely surroundings, proper while linen cloths and napkins. The service is excellent and the food is delicious, We like the traditional French dishes and their fish, steak and chicken is always of excellent quality.

We dined here on Saturday before enjoying an evening at the theatre. The food we ordered was delicious and nicely presented. The staff were knowledgable and friendly. We will definately be returning soon.

An early evening meal with my wife and son after work which was very injoyable. We had excellent service with good food very reasonable priced including wine.

the food and ambiance is lovely. The staff are always polite, although recently its clear when a manager isn't present; a little less polish and organisation.

Lovely friendly service and delicious food - enjoyable family birthday celebration. Just a shame it took nearly 30 minutes to get our table ready bearing in mind that we had pre booked.

The staff were friendly and efficient which added to the overall experience. The food quality was good and we enjoyed our dining experience. We will return to Cote in St Albans.

The food was very good and the waitress very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was pleasant and the ambience quiet but fairly busy for a Sunday. There was a good choice of tables.

Not great service, is it because we had an offer for a free bottle of wine? You should not feel disadvantaged for taking up an offer you received via email

Food way too salty in general. The olives were exceptionally salty, presumably to encourage more sale of drinks. Disappointing that a 12.5 % service charge is added automatically.

Good food and we liked the presentation and fact all food was more or less served at the same time. Service could be better although they do know the recipes

very pleasant evening, the food was well up to the usual standard. the services was not quite as smooth as usual, it seemed to be a new waiter who was not being kept informed of what the others were asking us so we were asked for choices motre than once. very good-natured, so no problem, just a teething hiccup.

As ever great service and we had a complimentary bottle of wine which was lovely. However on a Sunday evening they were out of quite a few menu choices.

The service we had a Cote St Albans over the weekend was so good. We eat regularly and always have a lovely meal but over the weekend our steak really wasn't up to the normal standard. We only mentioned it to our waitress who then sent over their Manager who spoke to us and handled it amazingly. Their customer service is brilliant and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you.

We enjoyed our evening at Cotes. The food was good and great service. I don't know if it is an age thing, but we found the restaurant incredibly noisy, our neighbouring tables seemed to be shouting across their tables in order for their friends to hear them.

This restaurant is in a great location with good food, good service and a nice ambience . Good choice of starters, Mains and Deserts. Something for everyone.

Good food, good service for a busy Saturday night. Only drawback it was extremely noisy. We usually sit near the front or on the left of the restaurant which is quieter. This time we sat in the other section near the back.

We were given a comfortable table and the food was delicious and the service attentive. We will return to the restaurant in the not too distant future.

We went mid week and we ate early as we were going to the theatre so it was not very busy, but even then there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and it soon filled up. The service in terms of timing and attention could not be faulted and all our meals were excellent, Would definitely recommend it.

Overall a good experience, food was good except for dessert which was in a burnt pastry case! However we were not charged for it and as always the staff were courteous and friendly.

The food was good but they put my friend and I on different tables in different parts of the restaurant and it was only by phoning each other that we discovered we were both there. We then waited for someone to take our order and eventually had to go and ask if anyone was serving in the room we were in.

Restaurant was very busy, but not many members of staff. We had to wait for a high chair around 20 minutes although we had asked for it 3 times. Service was generally very poor, only served us 3 glasses instead of 4. The fact that service charge is added to the bill automatically is impudent.

Lovely light lunch. Good service. In central part of town. Salad and salmon were both great. Good value set lunch menu. Would go again. Recommended.

Staff were very attentive. Easy to hear conversation - not always the case. The steak a little too rare but dealt with professionally and a portion given some extra time.

We went here and enjoyed a lovely birthday meal, friendly staff good value children's portion! The steak tartare was delicious. We will be back here again soon.

Food was good, service was ok but a little slow at points - however, it was a busy Saturday night. Would recommend. Nice ambience but can as always get a little loud when the retaurant is full.

Always good at the Cote St.Albans. We always enjoy our visits. The Cote is in a good location. Near the Cathedral the shops and the market

Very nicely cooked tasty lunch well presented. Nice wine. Pleasant staff. Only -minor - problem was music just a wee bit loud and occasionally intrusive.

Service was.sadly terrible. Table wasn't ready when we arrived we were left waiting at door with no explanation. When our table was finally ready it wasn't the size I had booked. The table was set bit by bit over the next 20 minutes with our prompting. We were told there would be complimentary bread in view of the table problem. It didn't come, we had to ask for it, when it came we were billed for it. One of the four of five waiters who served us told us that there was no set lunch options as it was the weekend despite a big sign outside saying there was a set lunch option on Saturday. Had to speak to the manager, who gave us the correct menu. No apologies. Water came after we ordered it, sadly no glasses. Wrong food. After this we were told we wouldn't be charged for coffee because of the service problems by a waitress we had not seen before. We were charged for the coffee by which time I had had enough so we just paid up including the service charge. On way out I brought the issuse of 'coffee on the house on no it isn't'issue to the attention of the manager who told me waiting staff cannot do that and we had to pay. At which point I felt I had to say that the service had been terrible. For shocking service and food that is no better than it ought to be I would thoroughly recommend this place. I won't be going back

A superb meal with the family, excellent food and service. We had a variety of main courses including duck breast, rump steak and sea bass all cooked perfectly.

Very busy Saturday night, still the service and food was excellent!!The Anniversary menu was very good and a good value price. I would highly recommend the belly pork.

I love this restaurant so much. Every time my parents come to visit we come for a meal and everytime we love it. I love the decor, the ambience, the survey and the food. My children love it too. The steak frites is perfect.

Delicious food and great service. We visited St Albans last week and had an early meal at Côte. We decided to go for the early evening fixed menu which had lots of choice. The food arrived fresh and hot. Although early in the evening it had a great atmosphere. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit.
