Côte St Albans

We ate in the garden which was very pleasant. The food and service was very good. The rose wine was very reasonably priced and very good

We had a lovely lunch. The lamb was cooked to perfection. My husband had the confit of duck which was equally tasty. Will be returning

Cote food is great, the atmosphere is great, the staff are great. The only negative is the stories about tips not going to staff. I go there fewer times than I would otherwise because of this. I would be interested to know if all tips go to staff.

It was fantastic. My friends had not been there before and were so impressed. The food was exceptionally good and we all had something different and everyone’s meal was terrific. We were celebrating a 65th Birthday so the evening was so successful. The service was excellent too.

Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent venue. Arranged a family event and had a fantastic time sitting in the garden. Staff even arranged a birthday candle. Spent 5 hours eating and drinking and could not fault it. Thanks

A great meal with four friends celebrating my birthday. Set menu very good & we enjoyed the complimentary kit Royals using vouchers from the Albans Arena.

This particular branch of Cote did not live up to our expectations. We are keen fans of the chain but we ate two days running and various options were not available. Service was not perfect and the staff seemed to be distracted by an off duty member of staff who was holding their attention, instead of looking after the paying customers.

The food was scrumptious but the service was a little slow. When we first arrived in Cotes the restaurant was quite empty and the waiter kept asking for our order but then once the food had arrived the attention to detail disappeared. In fact we waited some twenty minutes for our bill.

Excellent food, excellent service, this is our second visit to Cote's one in Marlow and now in St Albans both have been very enjoyable, looking forward to the next time.

Never been disappointed, and this occasion was no different the staff are polite, friendly and attentive, the service was excellent and the specials menu was exceptional, whether I’m looking for a breakfast in the morning or dining with my family or friends in the afternoon or evening the Côte remains my restaurant of choice

A busy restaurant but very well managed. Able to eat and chat at leisure, not under pressure and very well served by attentive staff. A great evening with quality food

Poor service food came at different times. Steak was not cooked to specification for a member of the party and she didn’t enjoy her meal. Very disappointing.

Unremarkable and expensive for what we ate. Hate the automatic adding on of 12.5% service charge too. My husbands salmon was bland and pretty small in portion size, my poulet frites came with a small pot of Provençal sauce - skin on chicken was not crispy and wasn’t particularly exciting as a dish. Had a lot better elsewhere.

We arrived and asked if we could have a table in the garden but there wasn't one available. However after a few minutes we were shown into the garden as some people had left. We had great service and lovely food!

Lovely leisurely lunch here with a friend - we ate from the set menu and enjoyed calamari and roast salmon. I think Cote has a more reliable standard of food than other chains in a similar price-bracket at the moment.

Food was good, service was very good. Have been here before and will definitely be back. Have never tried another branch of Cote but hope that they are as good the one in St Albans.

great location, great ambiance, excellent service, poor food. Pre- prepared re heated low quality. Nothing we ordered would have been hard to cook. My mussels were not cooked in the sauce which was added on the top afterwards. The chicken was a low quality leg. Just not worth the £72 (which included a service charge at 12.5% without my permission). shame because the menu too was good had the food been worth eating.

Superb! Sat outside and it was beautiful garden sun was shining staff were very friendly and the food was amazing! What a great place to come

Lovely meal. Good tasty food. Excellent value for money. Can't award top score. Friday night very busy and very noisy. Wish we had sat in different part of the restaurant where it seemed quieter, but will know for future.

Another great experience with Cote. Good fooand service. It is so nice you know what you're getting time after time. Would recommend for good food and value.

Service good but food very poor. Asparagus soup tastless, and badly presented, no cream in a swirl on top ,too thick. I think you must have had a stand in chef.

Had breakfast here at St Albans Côte and the breakfast was really good. Staff are excellent and very friendly. Ambience is perfect and timings were spot on

Current menu is not as good or interesting as usual. Service was up to usual high standard. Can't think of anything else to say to fill space!!

Food was good and came out quickly, however the service didn’t match. Felt like the waiter didn’t want to be there, and we were left for almost 20 minutes before they took our drinks order

Food is always good, never had a bad meal yet. Today I had a tuna salad and it was lovely Staff attentive and nice manner

Much bigger than it looks from the outside. Nice décor. Extensive menu. Something even for the picky eaters. Lovely desserts. They do add the "voluntary" 12 1/2 % gratuity to you bill though, which I don't like.

Very friendly greeting on arrival and made to feel very welcome - service was friendly but not intrusive and we didn't have to wait long for our food.

Restaurant was pretty empty - but it did mean we had a choice of tables. It was very quiet - but perfect when you want to chat and catch up

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, attentive friendly service and a wide-ranging brasserie menu. We sat in the charming garden overshadowed by a delightful cherry tree. The new May menu is excellent.

Risotto was tasteless and watery. When I mentioned this I was given a free desert - why? Surely I shouldn't have been charged for the dish that was sub standard? Very disappointing.

Enjoyed a very nice lunch in the lovely sunny garden which looked amazing with all the blossom. Particularly liked the mussels in cream and tarragon

Very nice meal ,good service, very helpful with a young baby. Always a good welcome ,will definitely go again. Eat a little early if you are taking young children

Very pleasant surroundings, varied choice on menu, friendly helpful service and a generally good all round experience. Would recommend this restaurant and will definitely return in the future.

Very good service. Waiter had a very friendly yet professional manner. The food was as ever very good and the overall ambience of the restaurant is great for a family meal.

Restaurant set out very well with relaxing ambience. Food arrived quickly and was of a good standard and staff were friendly and efficient. Only one hiccup when one of our frozen berry desserts was served with a little jug of cheese sauce rather than the white chocolate sauce, and we heard the people on the table behind us commenting on the white chocolate sauce that had been served with their dinner. Staff were very apologetic and replaced dessert and took it off of the bill. We saw the funny side of it even though my friend had cheese sauce and berries repeating on her all evening from the one spoonful she had consumed. Would recommend Côte.

Great meal as usual. Staff very accommodating, attentive and helpful. My guests were very impressed with everything and looking to use Cotes in future.. Looking forward to my next visit there

We visited for my grandmas birthday breakfast. It was lovely, the food was great (as always) and the staff were incredibly helpful, attentive and pleasant! Brilliant service.

We really enjoyed dining at Cote' brasserie, food and service were at top. Although it is a very busy we didn't have to wait long for drinks and food to be served

A nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good food served in a timely manner. We never felt rushed during the time we spent there which made for a pleasant evening.

The manager was excellent and resolved all our problems. My tuna starter was just like the tinned tuna I have at home with mayonnaise but in a "posh" container. It could have done with a layer of butter on the top. My chicken main course was swimming in oil, I asked for serviettes to mop it up. One of our party did the same and said her starter was very oily. My mashed potato didn't taste of real potato, more like powdered potato. I could have done with twice the amount of hot chocolate sauce with my frozen berries. Three of our party said they would have the apple crumble but were then told there was only one portion left. If it wasn't for the manager giving us all our drinks and coffee free our party of four would not have been at all happy.

We have been to Cote several times and never been disappointed however on this occasion we wont rush back. When ordering drinks we had to remind the waiter each time we were waiting. The ladies toilets were absolutely disgusting - it was as though they had leaked and the restaurant had done their best to cover it up. Two of the cubicles were shut with soggy blue tissue along the bottom of them both soaking up 'water'. You don't expect things this when going to a resturant of Cote standard. Our food was lovely but service and normally nice small touches were missing.

Very good food and wine although we were disappointed with the cheese board one of the cheeses tasted quite bland. French cheeses are the best so should’ve been 3 great tastes.
