Quite disappointed compared to our first visit. Food somewhat disappointing and not to normal standard. Calamari warm with little flavour chicken rubbery and bland
Visited Cote in Cardiff Bay for a pre show dinner. We arrived at 6 and didn’t receive our main meals until 7.20. This did not leave us enough time to make the show which started at 7.30. The long wait on food meant that we had to take food with us and eat it cold during the interval. Very poor and disappointing service!
As always, the staff and service great, mussels should never have left the kitchen but the staff handled the situation very well. An unfortunate moment but we shall still be revisiting!
Had a meal last night with my daughter before we crossed the "piazza"for an evening at WNO.As always a great start to our evening.I think what distinguishes Cote from other restaurants is the staff;invariably pleasant and helpful and they contribute to the "buzz" which develops when the brasserie fills up.The food too is excellent brasserie style with a good choice and regular monthly specials. It was a great start to our evening and if you are in the Bay I would recommend it for good food in a pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent food and service as always! Very pleasant experience, will definitely visit again.
Another nice meal with good service. Never disappointed! Easy to book on line and always a pleasant welcome upon arrival, Looking forward to our next visit.
I have eaten here a number of times and I am afraid this time it was disappointing. I do not often leave negative reviews but the service was very slow and there was so little attention paid to us patiently waiting in the corner for our order. No one bothered to explain the delay in the food arriving for example. It took a very long time for the food to arrive and after a long day at work we were very hungry! The food however was fine albeit perhaps a little uninspiring. One thing that does really annoy me with this restaurant. They insist on adding a service charge of 12.5% to every bill which you would then have to ask to be removed if you were not happy with the service. This is in my view not acceptable. If I want to leave a tip for good service then I will do that. To force someone to ask to have the charge removed is embarrassing and unnecessary. I did not ask for the charge to be removed but I am afraid the tip on this occasion would not have been 12.5%. It puts me off coming back so I would suggest you change the policy and give your clientele people the real freedom to leave a tip if they believe it is justified. Where there are large groups it is perhaps different - but there were only two of us!
Excellent service and meal.Staff were very friendly and efficient,Meals very good. Not to impressed with the added service charge,as we would prefer to set our own,Charge not fully explained,so you have to be aware.
excellent night spent at Cote Cardiff Bay . Staff very helpful and attended to all our needs we were a very large party of 29 service was excellent!! I have scored the noise level as a high and this was mainly down to the size of our party. Thankyou
Lovely birthday breakfast Very well looked after by Cristiana and Greg Lovely
Lovely airy restaurant. Staff were amazing. I had booked online and mentioned that it was my friend's birthday. We were seated at a lovely booth and each of us (3) were presented with a Kir Royale. Good choice of set menu and a la carte. The 3 of us were all impressed by the quality food and excellent friendly service. I would totally recommend Cote Brasserie Cardiff Bay. My friend's dessert also came with a candle. I not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but I will definitely make an exception for Cote.
We were placed on a table for 2 which was in the corner of the restaurant at the back . We thought this would be an ok place to sit as a low traffic area , unfortunately all the restaurant staff used it to go to back of restaurant . Wouldn’t have minded if restaurant had been full but it was really quiet there. Food was mediocre, steak tasteless , we were given complimentary desserts because we weren’t happy with the food. Bit annoyed that we were charged 12.5% service charge when not a good experience though. Such a shame as food had been of a high standard on our previous visits.
Another great experience at this restaurant. However, twice in a week we experienced the worst mussels ever! The staff were apologetic and very helpful but very disappointing to see the kitchen are still serving dreadful quality mussels, they should change suppliers or remove them from the menu.
Excellent starter and good main course - fine service until then. But.... dessert menu arrived and LONG wait - well over half an hour, before I finally had to make a determined effort to catch they eye of the waiter, and tell him, though we’d wanted dessert, we’d have to settle for coffee as we needed to reach the theatre. Further 1/4 hour delay and we had to pay, leave coffee, (which was, admittedly, taken off the bill) and rush to make our ( elderly and slow) way across to the theatre, reaching our seats just as the lights went down at 7.30. We were in the restaurant promptly at 5.15 - we didn’t get out until 7.00. Surely 2 courses and a coffee shouldn’t have left us late for the performance? Good start - unpleasant finish.
Excellent service excellent food book early to make sure of getting a table when going to a show been to a few Côte Brasserie and they are all good looking forward to my next visit
Very busy but service and food was excellent Would recommend it to anyone The fish stew had a good amount of fish and shellfish in it
Another delicious meal at our local Cote Restaurant. 4 of us ate from the Prestige Menu and had plenty of choice in all parts of the meal Only problem - we chose 13.00 on the day of a matinee at the nearby Wales Millennium Centre - so Cote was packed - but the staff coped bravely with the deluge of guest all the same time
Service and food very good. A slight misunderstanding regards our dessert order led to the wrong crepes being brought out, but that was generously discounted entirely from our bill despite only my partner not eating hers. As I had eaten mine I only expected one dessert to be discounted so cannot fault Côte on service/customer satisfaction
Excellent service. Our waiter and the restaurant manager ensured that every detail of our meal was just as we required. Quality of food was first class.
Good evening enjoyed good service rather pay my own service charge
We always come here prior to a show in the Millennium Centre. The food is always good and the set menus are real value for money. It can be a little noisy as everything is a hard surface so sound just bounces off - especially if it’s full of women going to see Calendar Girls. That can sometimes affect the conversation especially if there are any members of the party that are a little hard of hearing. That aside, the staff are always friendly and the customer service is always excellent. Booking online is also convenient and I would recommend as it can fill up quickly. We are regular customers and will continue to be as long as the quality remains. We are yet to have a bad meal. Well done Côte Brasserie.
As always, amazing food, arguably the best steaks in cardiff however service slower than normal
The food was amazing but we had to wait an hour for our starter followed by another hour for our main. The manager, however did give us a complimentary bottle of wine to make up for it.
Thank you for a beautiful evening at Cardiff Bay. We had a wonderful time celebrating our Wedding Anniversary with you. The food was divine and the service was fantastic. I’m sure we will see you again soon.
Wonderful food, as usual, and good value for money too.
Faultless service, excellent food. No more to say really, we always have a wonderful meal at Côte. The staff took the time and effort to wish my husband a happy birthday too. Thank you
A first class lunch experience, asily the best Brasserie on The Bay.
Very good experience, good service. good food and great atmosphere. We booked a pre theatre meal and it was excellent plenty of time to stroll over to the Millenium Centre.
the food was very nice, but the service could be improved. So from the mains until we got the deserts it was more than 30 minutes, then it was only delivered half of it and it took some time to get everything. Also for a table of 10 only to get 2 baskets of bread it not much in it was also disappointing. Overall the food was good but the service need to be improved.
Never been before but as I was going to the theatre with a friend, thought it would be good to try as it was so close. The food was lovely and the waitress was friendly and helpful. The only downside was some of the tables that seated two people were very close together and as it was quite busy, you did feel like you were in the conversation with the people on the table next to you.
What a fabulous find, food was outstanding and great service from friendly and attentive staff will definitely be back x
We had a lovely evening, with delicious food and drink with great company. We had crab, mussels and smoked salmon as starters then salmon and steaks as mains and all were perfectly cooked. We’ll be back again - and again!
what a perfect evening. we arrived in Cardiff on a wet Friday night wondering about the merits of Joe Smit wanting to leave the roof of the Millennium Stadium open tomorrow, and then we had just the most fantastic evening at Cote brasserie. Firstly we were welcomed by the restaurant with a bottle of Champagne for our 20th wedding anniversary and then we had just a great meal. The staff were great, the food was top notch, the wine list was great and not expensive. The perfect start to our weekend
Enjoyed a really lovely meal at the Cardiff Bay branch, good service and great quality of food, which didn't cost the earth. Very pleased with the experience overall.
Thank you to all of the staff in cote cardiff bay who welcomed us warmly and excellent fresh food as always. Thank you for the complimentary March cocktails the gin and tonic one was delicious and very thoughtful to bring the children non alcoholic coolers. A special thanks to the waiter who thoughtfully went out to purchase mint sauce when I requested it for my lamb.
This was the worst evening I've ever had. The whole meal took over two hours from sitting down to leaving, and it would have been longer if we didn't hurry the staff up at dessert stage and for the bill as we had to get to a show. The waited didn't take everyone's drinks orders so one of us had to go up to the bar and ask for a drink. Four of us ordered soft drinks, at £3.00 a drink, which were taken out of 2 litre bottles of pop, that cost less than £1.00 to buy at the shops. Diet Coca Cola was on the menu, but Diet Pepsi Cola was given, and we weren't told, we just spotted it. There were 5 of us present, but only 4 menus were given for desserts for some reason. We ordered 5 desserts, but only 4 arrived, so we had to ask for another dessert while the rest of us were eating. Absolute shambles from start to finish!
Excellent meal with good service . Food was well cooked and flavours were excellent. This was a pre theatre dinner and service was quick and efficient but not rushed.
The service & food was not of the usual high standard, fish waa dry & had either sat a while after cooking or was not fresh! Pre booked Pre Theatre party of 5; specifically stating due at Theatre by 7.20. table booked for 5.30 meals ordered at 5.55 & we were served at 7 20! We bolted our food , paid & ran, missing the start of show disrupting other theatre goers. We will not risk this again. The restaurant was busy with pre booked Theatre goers & not staffed adequately to cope, when we reminded the waiter we were going to the Theatre & time was passing he shrugged a reply of "everyone is going to the Theatre " Very Disatisfied !
Excellent food and service nothing was too much trouble amazing!
Amazing food and service! Will be returning. Pressoco on arrival for birthday guest which was a lovely gesture and touch. The food menu was varied and beautiful
My first choice for a pre theatre meal in Cardiff Bay. On Sunday evening it was quiet and calm.
Amazing staff, made you feel so comfortable and welcome. Food is amazing quality, range offered on menu suits every taste and is cooked to a high standard. Definitely would return and recommend
As always, a very pleasant experience. The service is excellent, the food is delicious, well presented and freshly cooked. All in all Cote at Cardiff Bay is a great.
An amazing service with quality food. The mussels were amazing and cooked so well. Fish cooked perfectly. Not what you expect from a chain, too good!
Good food spoilt by poor service Restaurant not very busy but service slow Would not recommend to go with children Would have been nice to have some background music
Lovely restaurant- very good food and service in a very nice dining room. Excellent and reliable- good value for money . Have been coming to this branch of Cote in Cardiff Bay since it opened- it is certainly the best Cote that I have visited.
Nice food good service despite being busy. Atmosphere very good. Glad we came early as we were wanting pre theatre meal otherwise would we would be checking our watches
An extremely well presented, portioned tasty meal, with an excellent server and service to match. The table was a little cramped for two but manageable
Its always good, tasty food, excellent service and great atmosphere.
Excellent meal and service as well as an excellent location for a pre-theatre meal. We always enjoy Cote in Cardiff Bay and will definitely go again.
