Booked a table for the 2/3 course menu meal only to be told that three dishes not available including two we had wanted based on the website. Seemed strange given we were eating at 5.45. Goodness knows how much was left by 7. Not up to our normal core experience because of this

We didn't like the way the 12.5% "discretionary" gratuity was automatically added to the bill, making it difficult and embarrassing to remove it. We paid it of course, and presumably that is what the restaurant relies on, but it left a nasty taste in the mouth. The rest was fine. We think that restaurants should pay their staff properly (and charge accordingly). Gratuities should be a very rare event for very special service, not for just doing what the wait staff are paid to do.

Great affordable everyday restaurant with great food and cosy atmosphere

As always, good food, good service and good value for money, although I note the price of the set lunch was increased again not long ago.

Delightful early evening supper. Location in peaceful Kensington Court. Monthly special (veal) strongly recommended. Excellent service.

First class location, food and service. Thoroughly recommended as an exceptional eatery in the heart of a picturesque city. Great meeting place with plenty of students and their families from the city's two universities.

We had a very mediocre experience here. The waiting staff were initially helpful in seating us but we had to wait a while for drinks. They did serve our daughters’ food quickly but we had to wait a little longer for ours (not a problem) however, having ordered steak frites we received the steak and our side dish before the frites! So our steak and spinach had started to go cold by the time the frites arrived...I’m not sure why they didn’t just keep all the food in the kitchen until it was all ready? Then we had a lengthy wait for the bill, which is never great when you have children who are ready to leave (I took my children outside while my husband waited to pay). The food was ok but could have easily been a higher star rating with just a little more care.

Service was absolutely charming. Food good as always, but choice of mains on early evening menu not quite as good as usual for my taste, although we thoroughly enjoyed what we did have.

As usual the food and atmosphere was very nice and we enjoyed sitting outside on a warm summer evening.

We met with friends from Italy and decided to have dinner in Cotes, it was a fabulous evening the food was excellent along with an excellent waiter who was friendly and efficient also the atmosphere was very buzzy. Will definitely be visiting again when I’m in the area.

I booked the table at cote London for 6 people. It was an all girls work reunion and some of us hadn't seen each other for about 17 years. The restaurant was the perfect place to meet for lunch. One of the girls needed a gluton free menu which was very helpful. Food was lovely as we're the staff. Very reasonably priced. Would recommend

We visit Cotes two or three times a year as we all live outside London. The food is very well presented and tasty. We are usually there for quite a while and we never feel we are being rushed to leave.

There’s was an olive stone in my olives, we asked to sit by the window but was told it was reversed but nobody took it while we were there. Waitress and food were good.

The calamari was fresh and plentiful. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The steak was cooked to a high standard. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Apart from our starters (prawn gratinee) not being up to its usual delicious standard, our visit was lovely.

I would have given our experience 5 stars but our prawn gratinee starters weren't up to their usual delicious standard. It is usually made with a delicious tomato and garlic sauce using chopped tomatoes but instead we got what appeared to be just passata and tasted more like a ketchup sauce than their usual delicious one - very disappointing. Apart from that, the rest of our meal was lovely.
