We decided to order from the tapas menu, and got a number of dishes between the four of us. The food was really very good, and the service was also brilliant as expected.

Very friendly, helpful staff - good service - food was up to expectations apart from my dessert - "Rocky-road ice cream cake" which was still frozen - good once it thawed out a little! Otherwise an enjoyable meal. Thank You!

We booked on line but no one had clocked this. They were not busy so this was okay. The staff are very good, helpful and friendly. Great ambience. Food was too rich and over fussy.

Lovely Sunday lunch, the food was cooked to perfection,the staff very pleasant and helpful as always and a relaxing atmosphere. Well done to all at Carriages.

Lovely ambience and friendly atmosphere. The shared vegetables between 5 was very minimal. But service friendly and the Friday and Saturday menu looked divine, sadly it was Sunday!

We enjoyed great food & service, would thoroughly recommend a visit if you're in town for the evening. The building has bags of character too.

Small, cosy little hideaway that serves the most delicious food that is always served with a smile! Great menu, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, what more can you ask for!

The service was brilliant and there was a wonderful atmosphere about the place. The food was amazing and the menu was inventive and homely at the same time. The only poor comment is that the poor singing pianist wasn't the most talented of chaps but it did make us laugh.

Fabulous evening out. Food is delicious and staff great. Could have done with a little more room at the table and I would have given top marks!

Really good food, good atmosphere and reasonable pricing, the only downside is if you are a real ale drinker it will be from the bottle, however I would certainly visit again and the staff were just perfect in trying to help all the way along.

The food was pretty average to be honest, but the portions were of a good size so if that's your bag then you'll be happy, nice little place though. Very attentive and polite staff.

Adventurous combination of food is a hit with us. Nice to try something different. Staff friendly and polite. Pity that a very noisy table of four spoiled the ambience. They talked and laughed in mega decibels!

I For the last ten years - anytime I have visited Knaresborough - I include lunch or dinner at Carriages. First Class food and service.

Great food, great service and lovely Christmas ambience. Very helpful staff especially with our little granddaughter. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant - one not to miss !!

Perfect, can't think of a better word for our evening, the staff were great, the food was on another level it was so good and the atmosphere was fabulous. 10 out of 10!!!

Very nice meal and efficiently served. An old fashioned Bistro, hopefully becoming the new fashion? There was a surprisingly large selection of draught continental lagers but no real ale.

Good atmosphere, varied menu. Service a bit slow and despite requsting no spores, they were there, although the waitress rd aopologise. Food was well presented. You need to book well in advance to get your choice of time,

We had a good time, food and service were great. Menu choice was so good that we would like to return, however probably not a Saturday as the exuberance from the bar area later in the evening, rather intruded on our convivial conversation!

Disappointing - food not sufficiently hot and some meals seemed dry The restaurant has gone downhill from our earlier visits - change of chef? Service was fine and the setting was good

We had lovely dinner perhaps a little expensive for the style of restaurant,however it was busy so they seem to have enough customers using the restaurant.We have been a number of times over the years,but the food was much better than a few years ago.so we will return.The service from the team was excellent and friendly and a nice atmosphere in the place,well done.

Enjoyed EarlyBird menu with friends from Oxford. It was very good value and excellent food. The staff were attentive and helpful and it allowed a very enjoyable meal before they had to catch their train.

Good service, atmosphere and food.The restaurant has a nice ambience and we will definitely visit again. It also has a nice beer garden, and parking was easy, by the station.

Another fab meal at Carriages. Brilliant friendly service, delicious food, great atmosphere and amazing value! Always our restaurant of choice when in Knaresborough. Looking forward to our next visit.

On a busy Friday night we had a great time. Atmosphere was lively but from start to finish we received lovely personal service and the food was fantastic.

Really enjoyed the food it was really good. We both had Duck Leg Confit and it was well cooked and very tasty. The service was a bit disorganised but not a big problem. The main problem were the tables in the part of the restaurant we were in there were only 3 occupied tables 2 couples and a group of 8 the group of 8 sat behind my wife and because the tables were so close she was constantly being knocked by them.

Food was really tasty. We had the tapas and great for vegetarians and good value for money. Unfortunately however the service was not particularly great, very friendly but a little slow which is why we scored a 4.

Varied menu and not expensive. Food well presented and good quality. Excellent choice of wine and several beers and Lager to choose from. Bar area very busy which showed how popular a venue it is.

A lively restaurant with quite loud conversations on going. Service was good. Error with original order of tapas but quality of food is first class. This was our 2nd visit whilst staying in Knaresborough.

Superb little restaurant. Arrived early but no problem for the staff. Food was excellent - I had the lamb shank. Melted in the mouth. Courteous staff, delicious food - and yes, I will go there again next time I am in Knaresborough. Thank you Liz

Beautiful meal and great service. Will certainly be returning. The owner is very pleasant and welcoming. The only reason I haven't awarded 6 is because he forgot the chunky chips!

Food as usual was very good, but service was disappointingly poor. It was very slow and some orders were wrong. We've been to Carriages many times and this was the first time the experience was below par. We hope this was just a temporary blip.

Excellent quality & choice of food. Beautifully presented & inventive dishes. Delicious food to suit every taste. Friendly staff. Seating is a little snug & not much room between tables but great warm atmosphere. Wine perhaps a little over price but had a great evening. Book early as this gem of a place gets full quickly & is very popular. Will definitely return!

Quite a slow start - shown straight to our table but then after 20 minutes had to ask if we could get some drinks. Also then had to ask if we could order. Once food came 2 of the group enjoyed their food very much and 2 ( they had the tapas) were slightly disappointed).

Lovely tapas, service & ambience. Couldn't have been better. We had all vegetarian tapas & the variety of flavours were all distinct & delicious. The staff were perfectly attentive to us & in setting up every little area to look welcoming.

Warm, welcoming, will go back. Food was excellent, we eat out a lot but this was one of the best meals we have had recently.. Service was excellent but not intrusive. Highly recommended.

Always a popular restauraunt with locals in the area the menu was varied and we enjoyed the atmosphere together with excellent food and good service

Superb Sunday lunch, the roast beef was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. Great value, great service. Well worth a return visit!

Never had a bad experience yet. One of our party said the thought the smoked haddock tapas was a bit salty but guess that's according to taste, it tasted fine to me.

Still the best Restaurant in Knaresborough and probably in North Yorkshire. Menu fabulous as was the food, service and ambiance. House wine also very good.

Excellent early bird Valentines Day meal; great atmosphere, food, wine and service. We live in Kirkstall and it was very easy for us to hop on a train, get off at Knaresborough, enjoy a pre-dinner drink at The Mitre and stroll up to Carriages. We shall be doing it again!

Everything excellent we couldn't fault a thing. Food of high standard the waiter service was excellent very tentative.didnt have to wait for table that we had booked the place was very busy.

Overall very good experience, service was a bit slow but we were not too bothered about this as we were not in a rush. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff.

We had an excellent meal, staff are very friendly and the place itself is lovely. Only thing we weren't keen on was the music didn't feel it was necessary.

Really good experience as always. Food excellent and staff friendly and efficient. We even got an amuse-bouche to start the meal. Washed it all down with a couple of bottles of Malbec. Meandered back to the hotel happy and content!

Great place to eat in Knaresborough. Good menu choices and great staff. Eaten here on a number of occasions and would recommend it to you. Dave D
