More about the restaurant: Cafe Ambio - Lakeland Motor Museum
The Lakeland Motor Museum is painted an appropriate shade of blue seeing as it has occupied the old Reckitt’s Blue Dye Works in the Cumbrian village of Backbarrow since 2010. Known locally as the Old Blue Mill due to the fine layer of ultramarine dust that coated the works when they were in production, the site is also graced by an outlet of Cafe Ambio (a new cafe has recently opened in the Lake District village of Ings). Here, with a beautiful prospect out over the turbulent River Leven and just a few miles northeast of Ulverston en route to Newby Bridge and Lake Windermere, Cafe Ambio offers explorers breakfasts, lunches and afternoon tea, as well as a famous Sunday lunch. Don’t forget to try Cafe Ambio’s stupendous scones!
