Amazing sunday roast, definitely my top restaurant in london for a flavourful roast.
Amazing food great service, lovely staff and a great atmosphere
Very welcoming and the food was really nice 👍🏾 🔥
Waited for over 2 hours and no mains course served. Left without it.
Tyrese provided excellent customer service. The oxtail croquettes had no oxtail just gravy and was salty. So disappointed!! The salt fish fritters were burnt oil too hot when being cooked so the inside was mushy. The pineapple salsa should come with a warning it was hot with pepper. However, the squid and haddock dishes were excellent. The sauce and salad dressing to complement these meals were delicious. Also the pig cheek was cooked to perfection and quite tasty, people should try it. The onglet was rare and customers should have a choice when it is being prepared. With that said I would go again for the Sunday roast. Tyrese was very apologetic and his warm and friendly presentation made the evening enjoyable. I would rate it 5/10 on this occasion.
Friendly staff, good customer service initially but went wrong again
Amazing food and staff, I’ll be coming back very soon.
Very tasty food and drinks. I’ve got the Sunday roast (Chicken), and it was delicious. It was also a very large portion, I couldn’t finish it.
The 3 of us thought our food was delicious and we all had the house Merlot which was obviously a good quality because it was so nice!
Super friendly staff and really cool atmosphere, whoever was on playlist duties did a 10/10 job. Delicious drinks, can't wait to come back and try the food because it looked amazing!
Pre-lockdown.. love this place. Didn't stay to consume anything on this premises as social distancing rules were clearly not in place on the 4th July.
Absolutely fantastic way to break our 'dry Jan' . The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. The food....oh my....the mac n cheese actually gave me goosebumps and it was a pleasure to watch the chef work. Will defiantly be back.
Great place, great food. Lots of people just coming for the music!
So I was a. Little disappointed that they no loner serve dishes with gravy. The curry goat and other traditional delicious dishes to which I had highly rated them for and craved. I feel like I’m not sure what you are now seems like their aiming to be a bar. Was not what I wanted I wanted restaurant bar. Cocktails were amazing. I just want you to please reconsider the menu. Other wise I think it’s a bad move. And makes you a fast food joint. Which I would not invest in 😒
Amazing. Great food, great cocktails and lovely staff. Can’t wait to go back!
Superb! As a family of Jamaicans we will be a hard crowd to please and the food was amazing. Truly authentic cooking.
Being mixed race family the food was not good West Indian food the cutlery was wrapped in wet serviettes and served in camping style plates there was no hot drinks coffee would have been nice after eating the rum punch was weak The place itself was cold uncomfortable and much smaller This was nothing like they advertised on Facebook and google
Loved it - would go back. Great food, service and music
Second time around was not as great as the first. I booked a table for 14 and was given a bench for 8 with a note on it saying "some seats reserved for Joanne"!!! No Chilli Pepper & her absence was noted as we weren't made to feel as welcomed as she made us feel the last time... The food and music were still on point and we had a fab time despite the lack of care over our reservation.
great Friday vibe, cocktail and Caribbean food. love the salt fish fritters
Food that hugs you and.makes you feel.loved. Cocktails that.make.you love the feel xx
What a gem in Deptford! Having grown up in Deptford, its was such fun going to Buster Mantis (mechanics garages back in my day!) Really neat venue & so accessible. Ms Chilli Pepper made us feel so welcome and ensured we had an excellent service. Music selection from DJ Reece Fletcher was on point! we are such a diverse group and Reece managed to have us all up dancing - know he know his music...and watches the crowd move! The Jerk Chicken burgers were well cooked and bar service was great. Thanks for making our night a memorable one! We're coming back for more!
This is a good local neighbourhood place to start your weekend. Delicious drinks, delicious food and on Friday night there is a good vibe with music and dancing. If you like the Shoreditch feel then this is very similar.
It was okay the staff were friendly and although we got sat by the door because it was crowded they kept making sure it was closed so we wouldn’t be cold. It’s advertised as a place to eat it’s not really a restaurant which is what we were looking for so it wasn’t really suitable for evening with plans.
Fantastic. Will go again. Good service good music good food.
I was not expressed with the food at this ‘so called Caribbean’ restaurant. The food had no flavour and adding a scotch bonnet pepper does not make it Caribbean food. I won’t be coming back here again!
Table was ready for us, meal items were delicious and drinks were excellent service was great & atmosphere was very enjoyable. I absolutely recommend it!!!
Great food and great atmosphere on a Friday night! The curried oxtail patty was delicious. Highly recommend. A real gem in up and coming Deptford.
Very chilled atmosphere with delicious food . Reasonably priced also . The staff were attentive and polite. The best Carribean food I have tasted so far
Great experience, excellent service! Definitely coming back soon. Lovely ambience, tasty drinks - a place to go when in Deptford! Thanks team of Buster Mantis!
Wonderful food, great vibe. And vegan too! 👍 A really great find, local to me in Deptford. The menu changes regularly, so it is worth repeat visits.
Booked a table to eat for 3pm, couldn't order food until 4.00pm as the kitchen wasn't ready. I found this slightly strange as we booked a table for 3pm to eat. Food didn't arrive until 4.45pm. Some of the items didn't arrive on time. The food was ok. The cheesecake didn't taste like it had rum or raisins and wasn't that nice. Unfortunately we didn't have a good dining experience. The staff were apologetic but I wouldn't want endure that again. I actually felt bad for brining my family there.
Loved the flavours! But, brown rice was a bit dry and 'bruschetta' starter was rather small portion. The BBQ 'chicken' salad similarly had 4 pieces of tofu, again a bit stingy for a main course. But overall everything tasted really good!!
It was a lovely atmosphere, kind staff and good food. I'm planning to go back and try other things on the menu, as they're currently vegan.
Delicious food with fun staff. Jamaican vegan food at its finest, nice decor and so easy to get to as stones throw from Deptford train station. worth a visit
It’s all about the food our first impression of the service was that there’s room for lots of improvement. But the food was delicious definitely recommend the rum & raisins cheezecake
We really enjoyed the food (especially the ragu), cocktails (litchi mojito and punch) and kind staff. Vegan menu, so great discovery as we are not vegans and did not miss the meat
Great food, great service, great cocktails, great atmosphere. Buster Mantis hit the perfect volume on the music, great tunes, and still able to have a conversation. Thanks for a great evening.
Great vegan twists on Jamaican classics. Delicious food with a great vibe inside, definitely planning on going back to complete the rest of the menu.
The food & service was very good. The negatives were having to go to the bar to order and pay rather than having table service and there were no condiments available.
The food was utterly amazing, I had some truly exceptional jerk chicken. Super nice staff and the live music was just brilliant, like I would come here just to hear those guys play any day. Coming here again very soon for sure!!
service was good. bar staff were friendly and professional. food was ok. drinks were better.
I love this place. Busta Mantis is the place to be. The staff are lovely, so lovely they make me want to work there. The food is just on point! Every dish I have had, I have loved. Took the family there today for Fathers day and everyone had glowing reviews. We will be back. Total hot spot!
Not all that. I was very disappointed with this venue after travelling from Surrey into London for pub food. The jerk chicken wings tasted as though the seasoning was from a Jerk seasoning jar and I expect a certain type of taste, especially as I am from Caribbean decent, so you know what to expect. The rum punch suites the palates of those Canary wharf banker, CEO types that were there on Saturday evening. Again, I am use to a certain type of taste and quality and the only place to give you a true rum punch taste is Levi Roots outside the Caribbean. This is not a place for the local ethnic minority community which make up Deptford, unfortunately. I want be back especially when you have places such as Levi roots and the Rum shack available.
Great place with a brilliant atmosphere. So chilled and relaxed. The staff are really friendly and the food is fab. Great cocktails too, with a variety to choose from.
I found it far too cold inside and the place feels dirty because of the decor, it was like walking into an old bathroom but slightly modern at the same time, it seems unfinished and there's a lot of open space with nothing there if that makes sense, it's also very loud
Such a gem! Delicious and moorish coctails, many ones which I never heard of before but so much fun to try them. And the food....wow, soooo good! Not the greasy jerk grub, very light and delicious, super fresh. The portions could have been bigger, but I think I'm just being greedy. Can't recommend this place highly enough, not to forget to mention the very friendly staff and the great knees up in the adjacent room on a weekend. All very nice and easy, nothing too trendy.
Great vibes, the music on a Tuesday is chilled and mellow. You have to try their signature jerk burger! The staff are all so lovely.
I had a rum punch and Jackfruit and Guiness Stew served with rice and peas, plantain and side salad. Both were delicious, reasonably priced and the service was efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The staff, service and food is fantastic! Live improvised Jazz on Wednesday nights is definitely where it's at. The crowd was amazing! Can't wait to go back!
