Cosy and comfortable restaurant, prompt service, and very good quality food. This is well above a bistro-pub sort of level. The menu is not a wide range but covered meats, fish and vegetarian. Each dish was well cooked, very well presented, with interesting and enjoyable flavours.
Blu is a perfect location for brunch - great choice of food to suit all tastes and the quality of the food is absolutely top notch.
Great food and service. Tried the newly introduced gin & wine package to accompany the courses ... very nice indeed. Will be back for sure.
I was rather disappointed with my meal. My starter which included back pudding whixh had been cooked to the point that it was very hard and inedible. I was also intrigued that my salmon fillet was served with extra smoked salmon. My husband's lamb was very nice however. The place was perfectly pleasant and staff very friendly, but not somewhere if rush to visit again.
The food was excellent. I had the best scallop dish ever and the lamb rump was melt in the mouth and very tasty. All the accompaniments were spot on. I chose not to have a dessert and had a coffee instead. Slight negative was that I received the coffee quite a while before my dining partner received his cheeseboard, we also had to ask for the wine list. On the whole a really lovely dining experience and we will be back again.
Lovely place run by lovely people. The food is delicious and the coffee so fresh 😁 I would recommend this cafe and definitely return soon.
Excellent fresh brunch with champagne. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Varied menu from breakfast to dinner all made to order. A great little find is the Blu Bistro and Coffee House
Overall the food was excellent, but my starter was tiny .Also the room upstairs has no atmosphere! The staff were very polite and attentive,gr8 place.
Great food and good service in a small and therefore intimate restaurant. Inexpensive for the quality and look forward to returning in the near future.
We visited Blu over Easter and had the choice of the Easter Menu. We three all enjoyed our food and wine. The staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back
Lovely afternoon tea- plenty of sandwiches and delicious cakes and they catered it to our requests and taste, really friendly staff. Would definately go back again.
As always, the evening meal was excellent - all three courses - perfect blends of flavours and textures, all in a very pleasant environment. Highly recommended.
Got the table I requested, polite helpful waitress, food cooked perfectly Just as I had asked for, not rushed to leave restaurant, made you feel relaxed and a pleasant experience which we would be eager to repeat.
We had a good evening. I was a little disappointed in the food this time- one of my scallops was barely warm and the duck was a little chewy. The sweet potato chips were very good. There were no sweets that appealed to me but that didn't matter as we had had plenty to eat.
The brunch was absolutely lovely, and portion size is ideal for what you want! Left feeling very satisfied - the price is also just right for what they offer. The restaurant itself is lovely and has a very classy feel
A wonderful meal overall. The food was superb and service excellent. Additionally the price of a bottle of wine is very reasonable. You really get a sense that they care that you enjoy your dining experience out.
Our 6 course New Years Eve meal was outstanding. A delight on the taste buds. Much thought had been given to the menu which was varied and so very tasty. I would highly recommend a visit.
I took my parents for brunch on Christmas Eve. The menu selection was great, the food was lovely and the service was good too even though the bistro was really busy. We sat upstairs, it would've been good to know that beforehand as my mum isn't great with stairs..but they are shallow steps with a rail so it was ok.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and beautiful tasting food. The only quibble were that the portions were a tad on the small side... but only a tad. Excellent night.
The staff we all very helpful and courteous, the food was excellent, would definitely recommend it. The afternoon tea is also great, one of the nicest I have had, well done to all Blu staff.
The meal was good but the place was cold which was uncomfortable. Very good service, staff friendly and helpful. Shame about the out of date grapes on the cheeseboard.
Very good. Food presentation could have been better instead of just piled on two large plates. Maybe if tiered stand was used it would be much better. My son had black coffee and he had to use a China tea cup for it. No alternative offered. Choice of sandwiches was lovely and sweets, especially the warm scones, were delicious. Attentiveness of staff slightly lacking. Never asked us if everything was ok, or if we needed anything else. A nice afternoon though.
Excellent food, very well cooked and seasoned. Would have liked the option of some free home baked bread. One starter was served with bread, but no butter which we did get after asking for some. Good service
Lovely food. Prompt and pleasant service. Beautifully cosy on a cold night. Thoroughly recommend, and in fact we have booked for Christmas night out with friends.
Loved the restaurant and food was excellent Clean simple settle Was lovely to meet the owners and hear more about how they set up Food really was fabulous with excellent presentation We will definitely be back Good value for money for the quality
Disappointing I also rang ahead as this was for parents 80th and one is gluten intolerant. Very accommodating put up a balloon on table and sparkle sprinkles. However initially took us down steep steps to cellar then up again and up to the 1st floor ... All 3sets of stairs caused a problem for my elderly mother. We were sat in a dark drab room at the back of the building next to the toilets... Down another 3steps. The food was mixed standards with mine the sea trout being the best option and delicious. However mothers halibut and fathers pork were over cooked dry and disappointing. I was a little up set that inspire of this disappointment which we voiced to 2 different waitresses when asked ... They didn't even offer us a complimentary coffee 👎
We had heard good reviews, so when in the area we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. Excellent food, a first class experience.
A lovely relaxed evening with good food and friendly service. The menu was very varied with good choices. We intend to go again to try another of the tempting dishes
Generally very good food (6 of us ) although my wife's steak was below average. Bit cramped for room as table was near the door and en-route upstairs and downstairs.
Great quality food and friendly service. The lamb was clearly well sourced and very tasty. Good but short wine list. Will definitely be going back.
very tasty full English breakfast and vegetarian breakfast. The coffee was goood too. For a birthday treat is was a great start to the day
Excellent, superb food, superb staff and great atmosphere. It will be hard to find a better restaurant in Chesterfield. From the snug little bar in the basement to the resturant itself we had a fantastic night.
Excellent food beautifully presented and the staff were a delight.I am amazed at the quality of food that comes out of such a small kitchen.
Food was good, lunch menu a little limited but this could have been to continuing refurbishment. Very smart premises, helpful and charming staff, really enjoyed it
Highly recommended, the food and service were 1st class. Nothing was too much trouble but they didn't pester. If you've not been its definitely worth a visit. Not a huge menu but something for everyone.
Delicious food lovely waitress - really sorry we were unable to leave her a tip as only had our debit card with us ( no cash) and no facility on card machine that I could see to leave a tip
Excellent food and service. The venison starter was perfect as was the Derbyshire rump steak. My wife loved the crab starter and the Lamb. A good selection of Gluten free options too.
Lovely bistro with really friendly staff. I had a lamb main and chocolate dessert and both were delicious. There was a little wait for attention to order dessert after the plates were taken away. I would recommend Blu to my friends and will return.
Welcomed with a smile and seated us by the window (as requested upon booking). Catered for our special dietary needs. My partner said it was the best meal he'd ever had. Really good, tasty, quality food. Thank you! : )
Excellent food especially the tempura broccoli, the whole meal was good value and a high grade of cooking,. friendly helpful staff made the whole evening very enjoyable.
Lovely, I love having food that I know I could never create and cook myself at home. Great relaxed atmosphere, we enjoyed the whole evening
Had a nice lunch with a friend. We were both greeted when we arrived by friendly staff and seated promptly. Food and coffee was good.
Had a really lovely time with friends celebrating a birthday afternoon tea. Food and service was very good.Nothing too much trouble and worth the cost.
Had the full brekkie, it was real nice. Others in party made different choices and all will return to try something different next time. Waitress service, our waitress was very helpful and made us feel comfortable. Would recommend.
Small restaurant but spacious for dining - not crammed with tables to make you feel squashed in. Delicious well cooked food. Friendly staff. Lovely experience.
Lovely food. Lovely amotsphere and helpful pleasant staff - we will go again. Price was reasonable and our prosecco was lovely too. It's not big inside but you don't feel squashed either.
Beautiful food, cakes to die for, excellent friendly service. Can't fault anything! Wonderful. Great decor. Good value for money. Will be visiting again and telling everybody about it! Thank you
A delightful evening with superb food. Would recommend this restaurant, the staff were most courteous and friendly. Look forward to returning in the not too distant future.
The pork belly/rhubarb/pomegranate starter and the chicken breast/gnocchi/roast squash main course were both delicious, having a very nice blend of flavours and textures. The chocolate , parfait was also very tasty, though a bit less memorable. Also the wine was very good, better than the average primitivo. It was a Saturday evening and very full, and the staff were struggling a bit to cope, which meant that when we had an aperitif at the bar they forgot to send the menu down, and the (new) waitress was still learning how to pull a cork (so can't really give it a 6), BUT the waitress apologised at the end for any problems, and we thought there really hadn't been any serious ones, and anyway they all made up for it by their very friendly and otherwise efficient service, with all the courses being served promptly. It was always good, but under the new management it really is excellent.
Lovely place, friendly and accomdating staff. Delicious food which is beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend a visit for brunch, afternoon tea or anytime. Will be returning
