Wish I knew about this place earlier! Amazing food, excellent service. Wish they weren’t closing so soon!! Will be squeezing in another visit before they close!
Service was a bit slow, food was good. Black cod was better than the wagyu beef. Califlower side dish was a lot for one person, better to share one
The meat was dissapointing. Everything else was fine. Id rather pay £30 for the steak dish if it was better quality and slighlty bigger. M
It is delicious! just at the first time we didn't find the restaurant, after call the staff find that the restaurant is combine with another one
Dinning environment and mock tails are nice, but two starters we ordered are too oily. Wagyu is fine, black cod is excellent. Overall they are too expensive for its quality.
a hidden gem at the heart of soho. part of the main steak restaurant, the 'theme' of the season: black cod and wagyu was high in quality. made to near perfection, i only wished they were bigger portion. will hope to visit there again before they change the menu
Been here a few times now, and the experience never disappoints. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend.
Very friendly staff and amazing food , I so wish this was going to be open longer ; I’ll be back before you go !!
Excellent dinner, from the starters (lobster croquette and tuna tartar) to the main courses everything was delicious. Hopefully they’re gonna open a permanent restaurant, it’ll become one of my favourite place in London.
All dishes were perfectly made. Portions are perfect, sides are all great. The service was spotless. The cocktails were also excellent. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to this becoming a permanent restaurant.
Nice environment, resonable price, food was excellent, but not much cocktail in the menu, we will try again next visit, definitely recommended, good service 👍
Food very nice and tasty, beef juicy and delicious . Service is excellent. Highly recommended but it is only a pop up shop and will be ended at late January 2019.
Great food, especially the generous portion of truffle on the truffle fries. Good service as well. It's a shame it's closing in 2 weeks - I want to go again!
it is a realy good experience .the steaks is amazing and cheap then the fish is realy special .I am realy recommend this restaurant. ha
I normally don’t leave reviews but do read and find them useful. Well, we went there for dinner and I was really excited about it. The black cod was delicious as the starters were but the wagyu, that could never ever be a wagyu I’m afraid. I‘ve had wagyu before even in Japan but the meat we had last Friday was not even closer to a rib eye. I’m still wondering how they “think” that can be called wagyu, sorry! Maybe for who has never ever tasted wagyu, they’d have left thinking the meat was good. Just call it Black Cod & Steak and no one would be disappointed;)
Waste of money. Poor cut of meat, badly prepared food. Better off paying more money and go somewhere nice. Zelman has really gone down hill.
Portions were on the smaller side and wagyu was very fatty. Recommend the black cod. Staff were attentive though, but better places to get steak.
This intimate restaurant is located in Zelman Meats. Best black cod I’ve tasted outside of Japan! The service was excellent; could not be faulted and portion sizes were more than adequate. We ordered the wagyu tartare, tiger prawns & tuna tartare to start. Followed by the black cod x2 & wagyu steak with a side of triple cooked truffle chips and charred hispi cabbage. All delicious. The black cod definitely usurped the wagyu steak. Also the wagyu tartare to start was a little on the vinigary side and the portion was smaller than expected. Overall, would definitely recommend! Go before they increase their prices!
Fab atmosphere, great service and AMAZING food. waitress was so accommodating as it was a birthday celebration. really recommend as value for money is great!
Black cod extremely good. Wagyu pretty poor. The sides and starters were mostly excellent except the fried rice which lacked flavour. Mixed feelings and probably won't return.
Delicious meal, chose the wagyu and the cod and both were tasty. Delicious cocktails and side orders to go with the meal, staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant is quite small to be sure to book in advance.
Sure, come for the black cod and/or wagyu but make sure you don't miss the lobster croquettes which are amazing! I'd go back for those alone!
taste really good, though a little bit salty. the service is very nice and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed the dinner here and would like to come back again next time 😊
The service was very good and the venue had a lovely ambience. However, I didn't feel it was that great value. The amount of beef and the size of the piece of cod were small. I buy Wagyu beef from the Japan Centre regularly to cook at home, and I wasn't entirely sure this was actually Wagyu beef but perhaps its a different cut? The cod was soggy rather than having a crispy outside/skin - I did not feel that the cod was worth £20 in a venue like that. With sides at £8 each, and you need two sides each unless you're anorexic, its not good value in my humble opinion. Also there are only 2 dessert choices we opted for the chocolate which wasn't very chocolately.
Absolutely fabulous. The lunch offer allows you for 15£ to get either 200g of wagyu beef or black miso cod cooked "a la Nobu". I thought the cauliflower carpaccio was amazing also but wasn't that wowed by the lobster rice. Personally I preferred the Cod to the Wagyu. Please also note when booking for Zelman's in Saint Anne's Court, you need to specify which part of the restaurant you want to go to.
The atmosphere was good, and service friendly. We had a nice table in a booth. However the food was only mediocre. Ordered the platter with a wagyu steak and black cod. The piece of cod was generous and good but the steak was poor - very small with a thick piece of tough fat along one side. Very little of the marbling expected in good wagyu beef. Sides of a papaya salad and truffle chips were also mediocre - the salad had very little papaya in it and the chips seemed to have some oily minced truffle/mushroom (not shavings of fresh truffle).
Not super impressed. Food quality definitely high but a bit pricey
Good quality but the taste and flavours is not something to wow about. Service was ok...team members are happy and engaging but more interested in having fun than ensuring a good service
The staff there are really nice! A little difficult to find because there is no obvious sign outside the restaurant and using the old restaurant ZELMAN MEATS’ sign.
Overall experience was great - incredibly friendly and helpful staff, the food was delicious and very well priced. I would recommend the lobster Croquettes as a starter and the house plate - wagyu and black cod was lovely alongside the truffle chips. Definitely would recommend and would go back!
Really enjoyed this place. We had the burrata and prawns to start, the cod and wagyu with cabbage and lobster rice sides and shared a chocolate tart after. Everything we ordered was delicious - especially impressed with the black cod and the cabbage side (fermented with garlic and chilli). We had a great bottle of Rioja too, and the total came to a reasonable £125. The service was excellent and atmosphere was good - definitley recommend!
You could argue that this is not 'true' Japanese wagyu but rather a wagyu breed from Australia. But then it wont be £20 for a 200g steak. still an extremely tasty cut, well marbled and very juicy, cooked with a crusty exterior so just the right combo. the lobster rice and croquette were also very tasty.
Great food and great service. The starters were awesome, my favourite was the beef tartare. The black cod and wagyu beef were delicious. And the service was great too. Our waiter was happy to take time to help us as much as possible
Nice service and great food. people there were always care about your feedback and take care of you. but I think the plates are Chinese style rather than Japanese.
Nice place, very much like chinese/Japanese feel. Wagyu was good and tasty but would prefer a larger meaty piece so will order bigger one next time.
Excellent food, cosy place and awesome staff. We had a great experience. Ideal for a nice dinner with friends or date night. Definitely coming back soon!
Delicious food (cod, steak, fries, salad) and friendly service. The ambience in the restaurant is relaxed and I liked sitting in the booths. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Loved our lunch. The cod was delicious, as good as Nobu and the wagyu beef was very tasty too. We had a great waiter called Ben who was friendly and efficient. And a very nice bottle of red, would definitely come back again!
Really delicious food. Great value for Waygu and Black Cod that would otherwise be 2-3x as expensive at Roka. 4 of us ordered two house platters and a selection of sides. Including drinks and desert it came to £50pp and we left feeling full.
Restaurant has great potential. Black cod was superb. Wagyu is below average even for its bargain price and rested way too long - new supplier required. Decent drinks list. Good friendly service. Will come again for black cod only.
Really good food and friendly staff. I loved the black cod - so delicious. Would definitely come back and recommend to my friends and colleagues.
A great concept and amazing menu. The starters were a particular highlight... the wagyu steak, I have to say, wasn’t life-changing, but asides from that I’d definitely recommend this place.
Having been Zelman Meats a few times, I had high expectations for Black Cod & Wagyu. Had a fabulous starter with the lobster croquettes, which were tasty and filling. The Black cod was delicious, full of flavour and was the highlight of the night. Unfortunately the Wagyu was mediocre. It tasted like a normal piece of steak and honestly, I would prefer having the cuts of meat at Zelmans than the wagyu offered at Black Cod & Wagyu, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it. The sides were great as they were pretty much the same as the sides from Zelman meats. I will order the lobster fried rice next time to try. Overall it was a good meal, the black cod really was the spotlight of the night - will go back for that!
great food, the tiger shrimp tempura is really spicy, just as the name said "holy fuck"...wagyu steak is good and dessert is sweet after finishing the main dish
The Wagyu steak was ok, it didn’t melt in the mouth but for £20 we weren’t expecting a high graded Wagyu, the cod was really nice though - flaky, flavoursome and cooked to perfection. The Thai salad was just salad with a lot of fish sauce, nothing that great. We also tried the Wagyu tartare and that was tasty. Good concept for a pop-up!
Cod good. Wagyu no better than a good cut from any retailer. Lobster croquettes allegedly world class were poor, strong flavours masking the lobster. Wagyu tartar was spicy and diced again poor. The ‘special’ mayo was hot and quite unpleasant. The 3 carafes of wine for £39 was quirky and unique and a good way to try 3 wines. So the idea of bringing expensive food to the masses is a good one but the didn’t deliver apart from the cod
Amazing service was great and food was even better. Wagyu steak and cod was a unique mix and the flavours were amazing. Will be back very soon
Have been to Zelmans a couple of times and was excited to hear about this pop up. It didn’t disappoint! The service was brilliant and the food was incredible! Already booked to go back in a few weeks’ time. Hope Black Cod and Wagyu becomes a permanent fixture.
Fish was overpowering, steak just tastes like a normal steak.
The steak and cod are fantastic. Beef tartare is tasty as well but fried rice could be improved.
