Delightful surroundings; very pleasant staff. Service was very good and the food was excellent. A very enjoyable couple of hours. Is there a downside? Yes. The toilets are "uni-sex" which we don't like.

Well presented pub. Attentive service, quick to notice drinks needed refilling. Yummy food though the chips were a little under done. Good cocktails. Would recommend.

for the price probably a bit disappointing ,we had mixed roast platter, lamb was very fatty / chewy, in fact only the pork was mention-able. apart from roast potatoes veg was mediocre. However , the surroundings and staff were brilliant and we loved the in-house sparkling water great

Waiter was great. Food was good but was better on previous visits - veg that came out with roast was not very hot and parts of meat were tough

waited over 45 minutes between ordering meal and it arriving. my order was the bird in hand burger which is the worst burger that i have ever tasted. I was far too dry and overly seasoned, and the texture was oddly grainy. I complained about it and was not charged for it. my wife had the sea bass which was adequate but over cooked and greasy. To be fair to the restaurant, they apologized and didn't charge for the mains so we only paid for our drinks. it spoiled the evening for us as we were celebrating my wifes' birthday. We won't be returning any time soon.

Booked this restaurant to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. We were looking for somewhere local with a varied menu, particularly to include a vegetarian selection (for my wife). The restaurant was very busy (a good sign?) but the service was excellent, with staff being very friendly and polite, in particular our server, Joe. He was attentive but we didn't feel at all rushed. The menu selection was also excellent and was up to our expectations. The food was well presented and tasted delicious. We would definitely return and recommend.

Very welcoming, shown quickly to our table and served with small slices of fresh bread with flavoured butter. Ours was garlic, rosemary and sea salt. Extensive menu with good choice but not so large as to lose quality to quantity. My husband had a perfectly cooked sirloin and the accompanying chips were lovely - crisp and fluffy - and enormous fresh battered onion rings. I had fillet of sea bass with a potato rosti and sun dried tomatoes and spinach. Perfectly cooked, fresh and flavoursome. Homemade lemon tart to follow and I had gin and tonic sorbet which was subtle but really refreshing - great choice to finish the meal. The service is excellent, attentive but not intrusive, well timed, welcoming and pleasant chat. Highly recommended.

However the food when it came correct was lovely and the staff Where all very nice and did apologies.

Amazing adult & child lamb roast!! However expensive for burnt and dry pudding, supposed to be sticky toffee pudding but tasted and texture was nothing like I have ever had, and we all choose it and regretted having it instantly. Mother’s Day & they got the Mums meal wrong but they did say they would knock it off the bill, but we did have to remind them at the end & have the receipt reprinted. It was an awful positioned table next to the fire; Smokey & the floor board that the waiting staff constantly stepped on repeat moved my chair and table, that needs fixing. Seemed to take forever, I know was Mother’s Day but didn’t seem enough Staff. Also with a child’s roast it needs to be on your menu with the pudding option or an option to buy a child’s pudding, had to buy an adults mini pudding with hot drink, makes no sense. The whole experience completely ruined my first visit there & probably won’t return now.

Not sure if it was just because it was Mother's Day but our food came out less than 5 minutes after ordering, not giving us any time before to have a chat. Good service though!

Nice pub, staff really good very helpfull. Went for the sunday roast, with my family. The meat was well cooked, however the roast potatoes tasted like frozen roast potatoes from a supermarket, and the vegtable portion was very small. I thought the price was a little on the high side, considering the quality of the food supplied. Maybe i went on a bad day, but i don't think i'll be going back soon.

Super service and the quality of the food is excellent. Only negative points was the price of drinks, which I felt was a little high. This is a gastro pub, with gin menus and all the other modern twists, but it is still a pub.

We went for the Sunday roast. Excellent service, food was very good. My wife is a coeliac, so it can be difficult finding restaurants that have sufficient gluten free choices, the Bird in Hand has a good list of alternatives. Can’t fault it in any way. We will definitely be returning very soon.
