We were late but were STILL welcomed with the usual smile! My favourite Godson and his fiancée had driven over from Brighton because a) we love you and b) it is worth the100 mile round trip for lunch at the B-I-H!

Busy Sunday lunch, service well paced and efficient, food choices very good and well cooked. Car park very crowded, a shame there is no dedicated disabled parking though.

The service was great and the restaurant very nicely decorated but it was very busy and extremely noisy. Food took a while to come and although the portions for burgers and pies were good the prawns and the lamp chops off the specials board were very small. The lamb didn’t come with any potatoes or chips which wasn’t explained. We would definitely go again but not a Saturday night and would choose differently.

Took my son for lunch he had fish and chips absolutely delicious as usual I thought as it was lunch time I would have cerlariac soup and smoked salmon, cream cheese and pea sprout sandwiches I am afraid I wasn’t impressed, the soup wasn’t very tasty and the bread was dry I found it a bit sickly too salmon and not enough cream cheese, having said this we have been to The Bird in Hand many times and this is the only time I have been disappointed. It won’t stop me from going again as it is my favourite place to eat both evening and lunch time. Waitress was very attentive and helpful and polite.

We always enjoy our meals at the Bird in Hand. Nice atmosphere, excellent service and a lovely meal. The only let down was the Vanilla ice cream. It was very bland with no discernible taste of vanilla.

Good service and food, tiny bit pricey for what it was. It should be considered that you are paying for the setting. Easy to get to, convenient parking.

Food was absolutely amazing, there were 4 of us and 3 of us had the roast dinners. Only thing I would say is there wasn’t enough veg between 3 but we asked for me and they got us some with no hassle whatsoever. Lovely country pub, dog friendly (we had 3 between us) loved the smell of the log fire too.

Great food, ambience and service as usual. For me, this is the best restauarant in my local area, always enjoy dining here. Cosy and warm with fires burning, what more can you want on a cold winters night?

This was a birthday lunch date. We all had starters of either scallops or crab cakes, the scallops were beautifully presented but disappointingly small portions, we would have liked more! Our mains were duck ( rather tough) catch of the day was skate ( deboned, delicious) sea bass ( too much risotto) and belly pork with pearl barley ( very good) Mum tried the sorbets which came with a birthday candle and one diner had a very good Creme brûlée. Our bill came to £40.00 per head

Food was excellent and the staff were very efficient and friendly. But it is a great pity that there is not an area for adults only as our meal was marred by a noisy party with children in the same area.

Have had lots of lovely meals at the bird in hand but this time I was not so impressed. We all ordered Sunday lunch (7 of us) and when it turned up we had two small dishes of parsnips and cauliflower cheese and that was all in terms of veg. When we asked for more the waitress reluctantly brought some more but still no green veg or carrots which we felt strange! Other than that the meal was tasty.

Family get together. Good food but service, though friendly was a bit slow (on a Saturday lunchtime, so place was quite busy - we had a hungry 7 year old and a hungry 4 year old with us and the adult food arrived first. In fact the four year old's sausage and chips hadn't found its way onto the order in the kitchen, but the waitress brought her some peas quickly and others donated chips. Desserts a bit expensive for what they were - chocolate bread and butter pudding wasn't very chocolatey! Overall we were fairly happy as we weren't in a hurry and we will visit again as it is a good location for us all.
