The restaurant bar is no longer called Barbarella's, and changed some months ago! Some staff changes have also been made, but the chef remains the same and consequently the menu is very similar and just as tempting/appetising.
Really lovely food and great service. Very happy with the meal.
Very friendly and helpful staff, happy to take photos of my friends and I. Food was absolutely delicious and the wine to our liking. Will definately go there again and again and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone and everyone.
Great food. Love the choice of specials and puds. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Good cocktails and reasonable wine list. Plenty of choice on the main menu too.
Read the reviews, decided to give it a try and we really enjoyed it, three courses each and everything was really tasty. Would definitely recommend.
Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere. Lovely helpful staff. Lovely surroundings with comfy sofas. What more could you ask for Highly recommended, wouldn't hesitate to dine again when in the area.
Situated in the centre of town makes it easy to find and parking can be found not too far away. The menu is varied and the food has always been beautifully cooked and presented. Staff are friendly and service is excellent. Would recommend both lunchtime and evening meals.
Nice atmosphere food excellent we both had the fillet steak which was cooked well medium rare. They had good selection of drinks, only negative was the cocktail which was pretty poor to say the least.
Excellent food, alcohol and service. Delightful venue, nice ambience. Good rapport with the proprietor. Curry wurst starter is amazing. Loved the place. Will be back.
We enjoyed our meal at Barbarella's. The atmosphere was good and so was the food. We had a good time and I must say that the choclolate brownie was exceptional.
A reliable and quirky restaurant with a relaxing ambience. Excellent food, well presented with a wide choice of menu and specials. Good service. Good value for money
Great choice of good quality good. The Specials Board caters for all tastes. The service is good and friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere and very affordable drinks selection.
Warm and friendly reception on a hot summer's evening. Greatly enjoyed the giant prawns on sour dough toast but a little disappointed in the sharing sea platter dish. We shall return.
Really nice place! Lovely food and friendly service. Prices are reasonable too. Will definitely be going back and trying out some of the lovely dishes on offer.
The place was really busy so it was a little slow to get our menus and then the order. All our food was delicious. we had a table by the door so some of us were on a low sofa and others on window seats raised up, not ideal to reach your dinner or chat but we really enjoyed the overall experience.
Our first visit and we had a warm welcome from the manager. The place has a nice ambience and decor. The food was excellent and very tasty. I had steak with saute potatoes and roasted vegetables and it was one of the nicest I have had done to perfection. Would highly recommend!
Excellent food and service - handy for Buxton Opera house for pre concert food and drinks. Would recommend The Lemon Posset - yum 😋but all the food was very tasty so would definitely visit again when in Buxton.
Perfect experience, the food was excellent, I had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. Everything well presented and tasty. It was very busy but staff were attentive. Would go back
We had a lovely meal. We were a party of 6 and everyone liked the menu and got what they wanted. It proved to be an enjoyable meal in a lovely room with very friendly efficient staff.
Interesting menu. Imaginative and well executed cooking. Could do with more regular height tables though - bit of a clamber to sit on the high stool! Please serve your meals on plates - they have been invented specifically for eating meals off.
Lovely venue, delicious food and well presented and plenty of it. Reasonable prices, good service. In summary a lovely evening out with the family, we will be back...
The food is lovely but long time coming 40 minutes wait no time for a sweet had to leave for the theatre..Definitely need more staff but will go again for the food.
Lovely food and great atmosphere would go again if visiting Buxton
For what you pay you don't get a lot or enough for your money and the staff are a little snobby depending on if your face fits not a great or terrible place but no value for money in either food or service
Great atmosphere, food was delicious would recommend. Only down side service was a bit slow think more staff are needed. But it didn't spoil our evening.
Classy clean place , friendly attentive staff, great menu and reasonably priced too ! Barbarellas was recommended to us by a friend which is exactly what we have been doing too !
We had a Sunday lunch here, great atmosphere and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Good sized portions, I can recommend the Tagine. good value for money and will be back on our next visit to Buxton.
From entering the venue staff were very welcoming and personable. The choice of food was varied and when it arrived was amazing. The decor and ambience was ideal for our date-night. We will certainly be back when we visit Buxton. We will highly recommend this Bistro/dinner.
Lunch to celebrate my son’s graduation. Lovely restaurant! Interesting decor. Excellent food and plenty of it. Fantastic staff, there when you needed them but unobtrusive. Will go again next time I’m in Buxton
Cosy, warm and welcoming place with great choices on the menu and specials board, also fine drinks selection. Very enjoyable experience and great value as well. Choice of seating from more formal to real relaxation on the arm chairs or sofas I just wish it was nearer home ,wouldn’t eat anywhere else when visiting Buxton.
Great Sunday lunch. Local meat loved the lamb, and warming puds - custard/cream or ice cream. Nice friendly service and good wine and coffe. Highly recommended.
polite staff, nice atmosphere, can be busy when people want to stand around the tables and front door. good food but smaller positions then you would expect for the price.
A very welcome atmosphere on a filthy night with probably the best Chef's meat & potato pie we have ever had. We look forward to our next visit.
Went here a couple of years ago when visiting Buxton and it is still every bit as good. The food is first rate, sensibly priced, and there is a choice of decent wines to help it all down. Highly recommended
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. The staff were so welcoming and obliging and the surroundings were relaxed and special. The food was to die for! I recommend the Vietnamese salad for an exceptional meal. Thanks for making the day such a success!
I've been to Barbarella's several times and cannot fault it - Service is friendly and attentive and the food is always fresh and very tasty. All this combined with reasonable pricing and it's unbeatable. Thoroughly recommended.
Great food, great service, great value. Really liked the ambience and decor. Really enjoyed it and cannot wait to go back. Keep up the good work!
Great good lovely freindly bar staff and the lovely Nick and barb always make time to chat to everyone . More stilton for me eh Nick.
Greeted well in a friendly professional manner. Our table was waiting and the waiter offered information and suggestions regarding the menu. We were given time to eat drink and chat without rushing.
Excellent service, really good food and great atmosphere... all the right ingredients for an evening out. One of the best venues in Buxton. Try it and see....
Setting is a little quirky but food was excellent, service good and atmosphere improved when a few more diners arrived. Will definitely b going back.
Food was lovely, staff friendly, location perfect and environment was relaxing. Two of us dined there on a Sunday lunchtime and both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The food was really good, although we did feel it was a bit of a stretch calling it a wine bar as they didn't have a massive choice. Lovely staff and we even back for lunch the next day!
excellent service, great food, good sizes portions and fair price. my second visit this year was as good as the first. very pleased. would definitely recommend.
We arrived early and as the restaurant was very quiet, they accommodated us. There was no necessity to actually book! The reception was friendly and the service was reasonably fast once they got going. The menu was very restricted as it was Sunday and roast dinners were being promoted. Three of us had Soup and the fourth had the Mushrooms with Stilton and they were quite pleasant. Two ordered the Lamb Roast, one the Turkey Roast and one the Nut Roast. The Nut Roast was very enjoyable as was the Turkey. My Lamb however was a little fatty and chewy. I complained and was given a small dish with extra Lamb & gravy. The meat was not cooked on the premises and is not 'off the bone'. Lamb is my favourite meat and this cut was generally disappointing. We finished with Coffees. The bill for the four of us was just under £70 including drinks. We would return again when the full menu is available because our individual experiences were mixed.
this was iur second visit to the restaurant. food was great , very little eaiting, lovely atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff. we definitely will go again.
Our experience last Monday lunch at Barbarellas. Firstly, our friends who hadn't been before commented on how very pleasant the room was. Secondly, everyone was very impressed with the excellent menu and first class food. And thirdly, the young lady who served our table was so polite, pleasant and attentive to our requirements. Overall we had a brilliant lunch. Oh! nearly forgot, the wine was also excellent.
I booked on line which was easy to do. The welcome we received was friendly and our table was ready. We both chose from the specials board and my Hake Casserole was delicious and my friends chicken was also lovely. We enjoyed a very nice bottle of wine (Macabeo from the wine list) and she had a dessert. I am GF and there were choices for me marked on the menu, but the dish I chose off the specials board was also GF. However apart from Eton Mess there was not dessert available for me (even good old ice cream had honey comb in it), so sad to miss out on a dessert. We enjoyed our visit to Barbarellas and would happily go again.
