Bank Street Bar Kitchen doesn’t pull any punches with its title – bar kitchen, or bar kitchen cafe according to some sources – and it similarly pulls no punches when it comes to its mission directives: to serve up reliably good food and refreshments to those in Glasgow on a gastronomic mission in the vicinity of Hillhead and Kelvinbridge, especially the thrifty University of Glasgow student cohort that comes flooding over Bank Street when the hunger sets in. Opening at noon and closing at 1am is just the icing on the cake, with the menu at Bank Street brimming with international-style dishes suitable for all comers at all hours, plus bottled beer and cider to quench the worst thirst.

Wonderful and stylish on the inside and out, Bank Street Bar Kitchen is a rather cool place to eat and drink. In fact, we’d go as far as to say it’s one of the coolest in Hillhead and maybe even all of Glasgow. There, we said it and we’re not sorry. As you step through the doors of these Bank Street premises you’re surrounded by rustic decor from floor to ceiling – think exposed brick, dark wood and cast iron railings – and it’s likely this, as well as a well-stocked bar and menu full of international favourites is what draws in an excited and hip crowd from Monday until Sunday.

When we say international food, we really do mean international food because at Bank Street Bar Kitchen you can start a meal with calamari rings, chicken pakora or chilli cheese fries. After that you can move onto a pizza or a burger or a house main in the form of fish & chips, katsu curry or a meze platter. We can’t think of too many other places in Glasgow with such choice, and at Bank Street Bar Kitchen, quantity certainly does not compromise quality. As we said, it’s a popular spot for drinks, too, and Hillhead locals know that all too well.
