More about the restaurant: Arty's at Clarence Marina
The Royal Clarence Marina is a modern extension of the historical Royal Clarence Victualling Yard, the so-called ‘navy larder’, so it seems appropriate that this area of Gosport is dotted with some great options if you’re looking to dine out. Boasting a great view over the water to Portsmouth Harbour from its Weevil Lane location (in ‘The Chandlers’, reinforcing the maritime connection), Arty’s at Clarence Marina is a destination if you’re looking for an Italian-inflected menu bristling with artisan pizzas, pasta dishes, antipasti platters to share, or simply a spot in the sun for some rest and relaxation. If you’re on shore leave with a larger group, Arty’s is ideal for part or full private hire, capable of handling all your catering needs.

Arty’s at Clarence Marina is an eclectic space that we’re sure you’ll want to explore. The clue is the name, to be honest, as this Weevil Lane restaurant has oddities and curiosities hanging off of nearly every one of the deep purple walls. Certainly it’s unique in comparison to anywhere else you’ll find in Gosport but much to look at doesn’t mean you’ll struggle to relax. Quite the opposite, in fact, as Arty’s Clarence Marina manages to remain a tranquil and fuss-free spot to enjoy some Italian-inspired food or just a drink.
As a family-run affair, Arty’s at Clarence Marina wants its guests to feel at home and, well, a part of the family, and as well as with the decor they do a damn good job of this with the food. The rustic Italian menu isn’t huge but it’s laced with quality and freshness. Start with stuffed vine leaves and a balsamic glaze, with salt beef bruschetta or with a classic antipasti board. Consider then some penne pasta with your choice of homemade pesto (we like the pine nut), or get involved with some of the finest porchetta pork belly around, complete with dauphinoise vegetables. Last but certainly not least there are classically-topped pizzas, our favourite being The Winner, complete with Napoli salami, spring onion, artichoke, lemon ricotta and truffle oil. Arty’s at Clarence Marina is, quite simply, essential eating when you’re in or around Gosport. Enjoy!
