Excellent restaurant, great food and efficient friendly service. Good wine and whisky lists also. Nice cellar ambience. Convenient for tramstop and for city centre on foot. Highly recommended.

Love the place. Being going for a good number of years and always great food. Have to say today it was quiet but it was really cold the whole time I was there with my friends

We visited Ona cold Monday evening but received a very warm welcome. The food was excellent and a very warming Bowmores Tempest whiskey brisked us away.

Good food, well priced and nice ambience. The other benefit is having a great pub upstairs to chill afterwards which does a great selection of real ales

It was quiet but good for talking as I have been before when it was extremely busy and I could hardly hear for the noise. Food choice was good though I found the hake slightly too salty. Apart from that, all was good.

Absolutely delicious food & great service despite being packed on a Saturday night. Mackerel starter & succulent lamb which I thoroughly enjoyed. BYOB keeps the price down too :)

Nice atmosphere although a little bit quiet on a week day in winter. Pleasant staff and a good choice of food, well presented and offering good value for money.

Quite a nice meal - steak , salad, haggis, ice cream. Young friendly servers. Surroundings a bit tired. The basement is fairly dark which could be seen either as cosy or a little claustrophobic.

Food was excellent and on the whole the service was very good. The only minor issue was a long delay after we had finished our desserts. We eventually had to go and find a waitress to tell her that we wanted to order coffees.

Delicious food and wonderful staff. Very reasonable lunch with a great selection of courses. Nice wine and beer list available, again reasonably priced and a great choice. Would definitely recommend

Friendly and warm environment with efficient staff. Fascinating mural on the wall featuring famous Scottish faces that entertained our group. Only drawback is it has capacity to get very noisy

We ate early 6.30 and it was much quieter than previous visits which we liked. It has been very hot in Edinburgh this week and the menu was a little better suited to cold weather but having said that we all found enjoyable choices. Very well prepared imaginative Scottish fare.

We really enjoyed the food, both the variety and the preparation, a nice change from the regular pub food served everywhere. The location was also good for us, close to where we were staying. The beer could have been a bit colder, but we Canadians like it like that, unlike the locals. Thanks for the experience, very enjoyable.

This is a favourite restaurant that I frequently use when in Edinburgh, my meal last night (3 people) was up to the usual high standard. Cosy and comfortable setting with friendly service and a good menu with a good drinks choice.

Really pleasant staff, they were very accommodating despite us arriving much later than our initial reservation time. I couldn't fault the food either; top quality yet reasonably priced and the bread basket upon arrival was a great touch. The alcoves at the back of the restaurants are lovely and cosy. The fantastic Teuchtars pub just upstairs is perfect for pre/ after dinner drinks. Very much looking forward to the next visit!

The food was amazing and the service was great - there was a large wedding party in who were clearly having a good celebration and the staff made sure that we were checked on regularly, which was really good. Highly recommended.

Food delicious. We had an small private alcove (for 2) which was great as a big party in so would have been quite noisy if in the main restaurant area. Great service too.

a lovely seating arrangement downstairs from Teuchters Pub up above...some little snug alcoves fitted for 'a table for 2' for you candle lit dining lovers. . The menu on the website said from 18 Jan but it was not the menu we had 11 May. Maybe that was 18 Jan 2016 ;-) Its not a wide ranging menu selection but the starters/mains were excellent. 4 of us with 4 separate mains - delicious. Recommend the scallops in a wee risotto mix. Stuffed sea bream was also recommended. BYOB was also good to know corkage wine £4.50 and £5.50 for Fizz Very friendly staff An interesting mural décor too.....go just to identify the celebs and staff on it :-)

Mains and starters were good, limited dessert menu. When booking wasn't told about time limit for lunch, (they asked for the table back) I would go back and it is byo but the corkage is quite expensive

I went for the fixed price Sunday lunch menu with my family. There was something on the menu to please everyone and the food was well presented and tasty. The staff were helpful and were happy to adjust one of the dishes to accommodate one of the party's allergies.

A superb little find...tucked away in the West End, on William Street. The food was excellent, I dont think I have ever had such delicious "Greens" as a side, cooked perfectly. I had a chicken dish which was probably one of the tastiest I have had. The service was excellent, all the staff very friendly, we were not rushed, and the fact that you could BYOB was a bonus, as they do serve wine. The charge for corkage was a mere £1.50. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be back.....The Sticky Toffee Pudd was ti die for!!

Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. My wife's chicken was spot on. My expensive steak was tough and would not recommend. Also some of the bread was hard and one of the olives was inedible.

Great place. Lovely atmosphere. Not one for a quiet meal but food was spot on. We were seated right by tee door which made it a little less of an experience but didn't detract too much.

Another memorable lunch at A Room In The West End, Excellent attentive service from Susan, a good variety of homely dishes available to choose from for each course. All 6 of our group thoroughly enjoyed the tasty and well presented food along with the relaxed ambience. The 3 course set lunch offers excellent value for the quality of the food delivered and the BYOB enables the overall costs to be kept very reasonable.

We were visiting Edinburgh for the first time. I researched possible places to eat as I am bit of a "foodie". A Room in the West End did not disappoint. Delicious food, great service and a fantastic atmosphere. The restaurant was full of happy diners and the bar above was heaving with merry drinkers. A fantastic find!

Food was ok but had much better elsewhere. Think that the problem was they were trying too hard to be fancy, plainer food would have been much better.
