Food was disappointing, service good. Very noisy large party with small children spoiled the ambience and made it difficult to have a conversation within our group of 5.
Fantastic restaurant and always a great menu. A personal favourite of ours and the staff are very helpful at all times. Good food, good value. Highly recommended
The food and service were very good. The restaurant and bar are a bit tired and would benefit from a refurbishment. However, good value for money overall.
Lovely food as always, great atmosphere and never ever feel rushed which I like. The staff are always very friendly and it's great value for money.
Great! Lovely food and service. Table for six was ready when we arrived. Ideal restaurant for those wanting to experience what Scottish food has to offer in Edinburgh.
Friendly staff. Manager is very visible directing is staff to make sure customers are not waiting for drinks/food longer than they need to be. Food well presented and well cooked. 2 courses for £20 and a bottle of wine £20 good prices. Definitely will go back again.
Went during the festival and had a relaxed meal with two companions served by excellent waiting staff. Food bursting with flavour. A new firm favourite in the West End of Edinburgh.
We had a very enjoyable meal, with excellent food and great service. I love the atmosphere at a room in the West end and look forward to my next visit.
Great food in this atmospheric Scottish bistro. Excellent value for money - and it's a byob. Lively pub upstairs serving good range of real ales and whiskies.
Food was lovely, but noise level was deafening due to 2 extremely loud large tables of diners. Service was great but evening was spoilt because of the noise - we simply could not hear each other speak so conversation was limited. Marion Bootland
A room in the west is a very cosy place, staff is friendly and helpful and the food delicious! Local food, like Scotch egg with blackpudding, is a real treat and the choice of beer quite interesting. I recommend it
Really nice atmosphere in restaurant. We had a party of 6 and everyone was more than happy with their food choices. Excellent service. Will definitely be back soon!
The food was great, the service was great, the price was reasonable. The location is also perfect for leading on to a few drinks or a night on the town. Couldn't have asked for more!
Busy, bustling evening at the restaurant and service very prompt. Have been before and wanted to take some friends here, great food as usual. Thanks for a great evening
The food was excellent with the whole meal being good value for money. The staff were very attentive and exceptionally pleasant. Would highly recommend and certainly would return for lunch or dinner.
My friends and I enjoyed a great, reasonably priced meal. Given that I was dining with a vegetarian, the labelling of all the food on the menu to indicate suitability for various dietary requirements was very welcome. The cellar location was great for a chatty catchup with friends.
Very good food. The olives for an appetizer where particularly delicious, and the "black pudding scotch egg" was just perfect for a start. Good selection of beers and Scottish gins. The waitress was particularly pleasant and helpful.
Good value set menu with a wide choice. BYO bottle policy - even on a Friday night - also appreciated. Have now visited Room in the West End as well as Room in Leith and recommend both.
Warm welcome and attentive service. Good choice of wine and tasty food which was well presented. Didn't have room for dessert! No feeling of being rushed away. Would recommend
Friendly efficient service, very good food, would certainly recommend a visit here. One minor detail being that we took our own wine as they advertise byob but was slightly surprised to find a corkage charge on the final Bill for this
Excellent service and food. We sat in one of the alcoves, and it was a great experience. Highly recommend the lamb and the I&G Rum Finish beer!
Still good food but not the same since stopped including potatoes and vegetables with the meal. The fixed lunch price is at the top end of such deals in Edinburgh so should include veg.
Went for the lunch set menu. Good choice and all our meals were lovely. We went at 1pm on a Sunday and were the only people there however by the time we left the place were full. Staff were all very good,we will be back!!
Quite a nIce lunch menu. Friendly service and didn't chase us out so relaxing lunch. Good selection of wine and drinks. Would go back again.
Food was very good also wine but the restaurant was lacking customers and adequate heating. Would certainly return as Room in the West End has a very good reputation.
We were well looked after by the staff from arrival. Food was very good and service excellent. It was a Tuesday evening and the restaurant wasn't very busy. Overall a very good experience.
Lovely food and great service too. The waitress was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The five of us enjoyed what we ordered. Definitely be back.
The restaurant space is small with low ceilings so it gets noisy later on. We went 7pm and was fine. Food is excellent and good value. Staff are friendly. Casual atmosphere as you would expect from a pub basement.
Excellent food and great service. All with a smile, even when our drinks went flying and the lovely bar lady had to mop it up!! Will definitely be visiting again next time in Edinburgh. Great value!
We had a lovely meal - food was fantastic . Service was friendly and helpful and not obtrusive . Excellent value for dinner - would highly recommend !
The menu choice was interesting and the food I chose was very tasty. Being able to take your own wine is an added bonus and meant the meal was reasonably priced. The staff were efficient and attentive.
Great food. I have the veggie option which was very tasty and my husband had the surf and turf. Great customer service and it was easy to park near by!
We had a superb meal and exceptional service. Lovely little alcove all to ourselves giving privacy and the peace and quiet to chatter. Highly recommended.
Fantastic restaurant, small, intimate, friendly. Astonishingly good service and amazing food. Menu small but perfectly formed. Party of four, we all had a brilliant meal and can't wait to return soon to try some of the other dishes on offer in this gem of an eaterie.
Lovely place with a great cheese selection and always have a nice veggie option. Waiting staff are knowledgeable and friendly, we will certainly visit again.
A lovely lunch here today! Very good service and excellent food in a relaxing environment. Will definitely be back and will recommend to friends. Thank you!
Very helpful staff. Even when we were 45 mins late! Excellent food, staff were just the right amount of available without standing over us. Will go again
Good was lovely and really well presented. Staff were very attentive without being in your face. Very busy place and seems to have remained popular over the years
Lovely restaurant, fantastic food, great service & friendly staff, especially Carol, who always looks after you! Cant fault anything about our lunch. We wouldn't go anywhere else!
We chose this restaurant as we wanted to enjoy real Scottish fare on our trip to Edinburgh. We weren't disappointed. The waitress was on hand & happy to explain the dishes & although we thought initially the menu was a little limited we weren't disappointed. 2 courses off the set menu would cost £20 or you could choose a different main & pay a small supplement. I have to say the 'Cullen skank' was delicious. We all chose steak for our main which were perfectly cooked & we're happy to pay the small supplement. 2 course with wine will cost around £35 per head. The restaurant is a little off the beaten track & beneath a very busy pub but well worth a visit.
A lovely evening. The Staff were extremely helpful and food was excellent . There's always a lovely atmosphere here and our guests said they would definitely be back
The experience was excellent. Was arrange for a family meal and everyone wasn't disappoint. My starter and main courses where excellent. Had the scotch egg with black pudding tom start and my main of Roe deer was to die for.
I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and my sister and I were not disappointed. The food was excellent, tasty and well prepared, and the staff friendly and efficient.
Lovely meal served from locally sourced food. Perfect evening meal with a friend and was able to go upstairs for a drink after. Lovely staff too. Thanks!
Having been fortunate to have eaten Lobster in Jersey, Oysters in Sydney, clams in Canada & Tuna in the Maldives, I can honestly say that the fish dish I was served on 14th Feb 2016 at 'A Room in the West End, Salmon with King Scallops was one of the Best meals I have ever had. This is an undiscovered treasure, tucked away, but well worth visit. The Rubarb & Ginger Procesco was also a delicious aperitif :-)
Everything went well - the meal was good and the service attentive. The olives before the meal are a must! The BYOB arrangement is attractive.
There is relaxed atmosphere in A Room In The West End. The food we ordered was very good and the staff were efficient and friendly.
friendly helpful staff. A great place to go for food or a drink. Food is amazing. Everything you would expect from a top bar / bistro Highly recommended A +++++
Food was absolutely delicious and the service was polite and friendly. The food was very reasonably priced.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Food was excellent, service really good . Pleasant surroundings. I would recommend this restaurant. Bring your own booze also helped to keep the bill down
