good choices on the menu, ideal for family Sunday lunch and the longer hours for serving food are useful when you have a distance to travel and get stuck in traffic.

We had excellent food and service when we visited the Wagon and Horses on Friday. It was altogether an enjoyable experience. My friends and I will certainly come again.

Made to feel welcome soon as we entered the building, very attentive staff without being intrusive. Excellent food and drinks, had a really lovely afternoon there catching up with some friends.

The staff were welcoming and we were seated quickly. The food was ok, the starters were nice, unfortunately it was obvious that the main course had been kept warm whilst we had our starters. Staff kept trying to clear away our starters even though we were still eating and when the main was served the beef was dry and chewy and the egg was not runny, the risotto also a little dry.

Excellent meal. Have been here before and was just as good. Had garlic bread for starter. Then sirloin steak. Really good. Nice wine as well. Highly recommended.

The place was nice and the staff were friendly but we booked this place after viewing the menu online, 2 out of the 5 of us were told our menu choice was unavailable, very disappointing. The choice we picked was nice but was not what I wanted for my evening out, I could have gone to Mac Donald’s for a more tastier and cheaper experience

We ordered the starter, which was the fish platter, sharing between 2, it was lovely, nice balance of salty and citrus and sweet. Then we had the boar ragu and the crab risotto. The boar ragu was very nice but the crab risotto was a little disappointing, the rice was a little bit hard (slightly uncooked), and the seasoning was off, this could be improved, I would say, not worth the 14.95 price tag. Very nice ambience and staff were lovely and attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Would come back again.

I visited with my partner for his birthday on 12/5/18. I had the hummous, feta and pitta for starters. They was a huge clove of garlic in the humous which I ate as I thought it was feta. For 2 slices of pitta bread, the portion of humous was miniscule and the feta was almost non-existent. My partner's starter - calamari was very small and I gave him some pitta. My partner ordered steak for main and I ordered the chickpea and butternut squash patty. When my plate arrived, there was a dragon fly on the egg. I called the waitress over and she apologised and said she would replace my meal. My partner therefore sat and ate his meal on his own. Some 20 minutes later, after my partner had finished his meal, mine arrived. The patty had no shape and was just mush. I also had to ask for cutlery given mine had been taken away with my first meal. We decided not to order dessert as we were so unimpressed. When I went to pay for the meal , I was presented with the full bill which, after querying, the waitress said she would knock off my main meal. I then had to hang around to wait for the card machine to reboot as it wasn't working. No apology, bad food which is overpriced pub grub at restaurant prices and insects in my meal - appalling. We won't be back!

Lovely atmosphere as always. Staff are always very attentive. Food was absolutely lovely. Only downside was some technical issues they were having in the Kitchen so the full menu wasn’t available but what was was tasty all the same.

Comfortable stay in this quaint pub. Our double room was small but well appointed with a double aspect view of the River Lune. There was traffic noise but it was not too intrusive. Dinner was tasty, as was breakfast. Not too keen on the pop music playing while we were dining, but know some people like it. Good location; only a short walk to the centre of Lancaster, easy walks along the river.

Excellent service and a warm welcome. My friend had the hake dish and she said it was the best fish dish she had ever eaten. Another friend enjoyed the fish and chips and another of our party thought the gammon was fabulous. I enjoyed the sweet belly pork but I think a green vegetable in addition to the carrots would have balanced the dish, Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and look forward to going back.

Disappointing used to be a lot better, meal very average, sweet awful, coconut tiramisu tasted like it has been in the fridge since Christmas,! We were also very rushed by the waiter who actually wanted to start serving mains before one of us had finished their starter. Went to the Morecambe hotel on two previous nights, much better quality and considerably cheaper

Lovely staff with good service and very comfortable and stylish decor. The selection of food was broad with excellent fish dishes which was great to see on the quay. The salmon bon bons, prawns, crab, scallops and wild boar scotch egg were absolutely delicious. The hake was cooked beautifully and we all enjoyed the main courses and desserts. I would recommend.

Enjoyed a fantastic 5 course meal at the Wagon and Horses on Valentine's Day. Great value at £35 per head including a glass of prosecco. Food was fantastic, fresh, tasty and well presented and staff very friendly. Recommend and look forward to another visit next time we're in Lancaster.

It’s really lovely inside and the dining tables are well positioned. My partner had a beef dish which was fantastic. I had the sweet beetroot vegetarian dish which was dry and the flat bread was hard. I felt there wasn’t enough choice of vegetarian dishes, being only two that I could see on the menu. We then ordered our pudding which after 40 minutes of waiting, were told there was a problem with one of them and was asked if I would like to order another. We then waited a further 15 minutes for two cookie puddings. My partners wasn’t baked properly at all and we just couldn’t believe they were £6.50 each. Very overpriced and £55 altogether for a very disappointing meal. We could have had a far better meal at Cottams Field for half the price. A pub trying to be a restaurant.

Great food, lovely atmosphere and fairly priced. The scallops for starter were perfectly cooked. The rabbit dish was great - the risotto with berries was brilliant and only comment would be the meat was a little dry - although flavour was good.

I dined with friends, we were seated at a quiet table in the window, one of my favourite places to eat in Lancaster. The service was excellent (staff were attentive but not intrusive). The food was delicious, two diners had the hake and one had salmon, presentation of the meal was lovely. To finished the meal we had cheese and crackers while we continued to chat.

this is a very pleasant place to visit, staff very friendly and service good. The starters we had were very good, the boar scotch egg was lovely the only thing that let it down was the horseradish crisps which were unbelievable bitter, the pork belly with sesame ice cream was lovely and we all had a taste, although the colour was a bit offputting. Mains were disappointing, rabbit was dry, especially the leg, the risotto was so thick and sticky it was difficult to eat, the berries although looking lovely didn't add much to the meal, the sirloin steak although cooked very well was tough as old boots, fatty and very difficult to cut, on the whole meal was ok, wine was delicious, didn't bother with puds. Would visit again and try something else, maybe it was just one of those days.
