Excellent lunch, and very good value, will return shortly. I really do not see the point of having to make a review last 25 words when less will suffice.

We enjoyed our evening at the Wild Swan immensely. The food was fantastic, and the Staff looked after us really well. We had a lovely time celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Beautifully restored family run pub with superb food and service. Wonderful varied menu and wine list to compliment. Relaxed atmosphere with roaring fire, perfect for that cold winter evening. Would highly recommend.

Amazing food, excellent service and reasonably priced. Will go again and would definitely reccomend. 5 minute drive from A1 and boroughbridge. Good choice of real ales

Lovely atmosphere and the food was good except for the Yorkshire pudding in the ‘toad in’t ole’ which was rather hard! Staff were very pleasant.

Very well looked after by Lee and couldn’t fault the meals. Beautifully presented and piping hot. Their version of Eaton Mess outstanding. Will definitely be returning.

Warm welcome, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. I particularly enjoyed the French onion soup and swordfish. A great improvement in service since our first visit.

hi . just to let you know , the food was amazing and certainly couldn't fault the staff.but they was an open fire next to us and the staff kindly moved us to another table because it got so hot . the smoke from the open fire was bouncing off the ceiling . when we got home our clothes, skin and hair didn't smell very nice .My girlfriends expensive coat will now need to go to the cleaners . will i be returning to the Wild Swan . certainly not when it's cold unless something can be done about the open fire . Had a drink in the bar before heading through to the restaurant. Lovely service, the waitress was always there if we needed something. The food was hot and delicious. Very well made.

We were seated very quickly, the food arrived within a reasonable time and was very tasty!

A regular at The Crown this was my first visit to The Swan. The décor and seating are great so in keeping with the age of the building, tables nicely spaced out, service as usual top class, great to see Lee who was missed on our last visit to The Crown! The waitress was very helpful with my annoying garlic allergy. Food beautifully presented and delicious. The Swan has been pitched exactly right, not in competition with The crown it stands alone with its own individual character. We will definitely be returning!

Good food, nice atmosphere, staff could be a little more attentive. Overall a very nice dining experience. Will go back and have already told family and friends about it.

Good food & good service. There needs to be a larger & more varied menu. Location of toilets is not great. Having said the above we have been regulars and always enjoy our meal.

Good food, nice service generally. Having to wait for a table in the middle of the dining room next to diners already eating was not good. Felt embarrassed for them. Small point and the only grumble. Will go again.

Visited for a light lunch for two. Very good food and service. Place fairly busy but felt relaxed. Will definitely go back and try dinner one night.

Great looking place - had a table near the fire, wonderful but also next to the door, not so wonderful. We both chose the cod loin off the specials board - lovely but disappointed to find no cheese or green tea left, not so lovely.

This is our second experience of the Wild Swan. Both less than wildly exciting. Food quality fairly good although I thought it very poor that a pub with a sisterpub of such high standing would serve turkey crown and nota proper roast turkey. The plates were barely warm (again), and why do catering establishments have to stack EVERYTHING on the plate of food? A pile of sliced turkey stacked with two, possibly three layers of veg is messy and does not give the consumer the opportunity to combine flavours of their choice. We were placed by the opening hatch to the kitchen (again for the second time) although we had booked reasonably early in the season. Someone has to sit there I realise so just bad luck on our part. I know we have been deluged with Christmas music for months but there was not even a jingle on the day and really it did not feel festive at all. After our previous disappointing visit I sent a private email to the pub rather than comment on Trip Advisor. This still remains unanswered or even acknowledged. I subsequently copied the Crown at Roecliffe into that email and received no response from the Headshop. This is very poor customer service. We will not go again and will advise our circle of friends to give both pubs a wide berth. The refurbishment has been done beautifully. Most attractive and not a modern tragedy makeover. We were not even asked on either occasion if we had actually enjoyed the meal. This is a major oversight. I do not believe it is fair to rant and rave on site when things are not perfect and some people do go to extremes but an invitation to comment is courtesy and an opportunity to make constructive comment.

Warm, cosy atmosphere, good decor & a lovely gin & tonic to start with . Ample choice on menu and delicious tasting food. Only downside was the quality of the coffee after the meal, which was very weak and tepid! However, our replacement coffees were just fine. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Amazing food and great atmosphere. Beautiful decor. Will definitely be coming back again. Can personally highly recommend the venison and the pheasant looked fabulous too.

First visit. Pleasant experience. Couldn't help but compare with The Crown. Which has the edge! Liked the furnishings, fire and bar. Food good. Would recommend

Nice food & setting but poor, inattentive staff. At times they verged on aggressive & rude - particularly the stone faced bar maid. Very disappointed

Food excellent, service needs work. We would have had more drinks if the waiting staff deemed to check more often. Decor nice but the bar was awfully dark. We probably won't go back.

Lovely meal, good service, warm restaurant (I'm always cold but I wasn't here!). Thank you The only negative was that the fire puffed out a bit of smoke so a little ventilation would have been good for a few minutes until it was burning properly!

Very comfortable dining room, excellent food and great service. Good vfm considering the quality. Wine list a bit unambitious? Will definitely go again in the new year.

A warm welcoming atmosphere. There wide choice of interesting dishes for a lunchtime menu. The staff were very pleasant, and the service relaxed and helpful.

The Menu is somewhat restricted and it is also almost impossible to read otherwise all lovely and pleasant staff plus nice atmosphere and lovely fire

Wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff, good food, my only criticism is that my roast beef dinner wasn't piping hot. But I will return and try the mid week menu, which looks delicious.

Good service and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately it was a very cold day and the doorways into both the bar and restaurant let in quite a cold draft as people went in and out. Starters: Mackeral pate and French onion soup were excellent. Fish and chips well cooked. Shin beef pie, meat rather underdone.

Ambience and service good. Room not warm enough. Food fair. A pleasant experience but need to keep up the initial high standard. We will come again.

The service was great and they were very attentive with a lovely warm amostphere and food delicious. I would definitely recommend and will cost many times.

Food is wonderful. Service was sketchy, the 2 younger waitresses clearly felt clearing tables and delivering food is beneath them. Pedro was great as was the lady who served us at the beginning of our meal. Will definitely return as it’s a lovely place.

Really good food and atmosphere in the restaurant area. The price of wine is exorbitant. They could consider a good house wine to make it less expensive. We don't like the way people drinking congregate around the bar once they have been served makes it difficult to get served when busy.Not enough space.

Second visit to the Wild Swan. Good choice of menu with smaller menu dishes on offer which suited us not wanting a big plateful of food on this occasion.

Everything absolutely perfect today except green vegetables which were unfortunately nearer to uncooked than ‘al dente’. A great lunch overall and much appreciated efficient and friendly service. Gluten free needs were very well looked after.

We all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. There were four in the (open) kitchen and a similar number serving so this was efficient and pleasant.

Unfortunately, what would have been a lovely meal was ruined when my friend was served an egg-free pudding. They overlooked the fact that the homemade ice cream served with it contained egg. This happened despite repeatedly checking with the staff that everything was egg free as my friend has a SEVERE allergy. Within minutes, her lips were swelling and we had to dash home for her epipen. They charged us for the meal( minus the pudding containing egg). Very very disappointing.
