The food was excellent. It's a shame that the decor showed signs of neglect (silverware uncleaned etc). There was no lit fire even though it was cold although the landlord did light it when asked. If the whole feeling of the place was improved, this would in turn ramp up the ambience which would increase the number of customers, and this pub could be a very popular and successful venture. Common landlord, your food is excellent, but it needs the whole package to be successful!
First visit to this pub in 25 years. Externally it hasn't changed a great deal. A nice homely village pub with log fires. Food was excellent, enjoyed by all in our party. Well cooked with a fresh and interesting choice of veg to compliment 3 Sunday roasts. Rest of the menu looked interesting enough for us to consider a return visit sometime soon.
Highly recommended. A lovely pub in a nice village. Friendly staff and great food. Will definitely be back soon. Thank you for making us so welcome.
Great food, really tasty and fresh. I had the burger. friendly service, tho just not the quickest even though restaurant was quiet. Will definitely come back
Best steak in the county, the other food is awesome as well. Super pub for a couple of pints or a high end pub meal. Good wine list, collection of spirits and stickies. Always great service from Matt and the team.
Excellent service through out and great food once again. We Would highly recommend, the wheel inn! we will deinately be back for food and drinks again very soon.
A very good meal but not sure about the hygiene of a wooden board for the ribs! Great starters and a good selection of mains
A lovely meal we enjoyed bread and olives followed by the pie steak and stilton very tasty, everything just perfect served by a very friendly attentive waiter would highly recommend
Lovely cosy atmosphere, super food and really friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. In addition a good selection of ales for those who like to pop in for a couple of beers.
We had a lovely meal in a nice atmosphere. It was a cold evening and the pub was a little cool but otherwise we had a really nice time.
Cramped table, choice on menu not available but it took 15 minutes after ordering to find out, roast potatoes very poor and over cooked. Vegetables uninteresting and poorly cooked.
Always a great atmosphere and friendly service. The food is wonderful and always coked to perfection. I just wish they would change their knives. I don't know if it is just me, but they are very difficult to hold.
Looking forward to our evening as other reviews we're good . Disappointed with the main courses , plaice & steak & ale pie . Will not be returning .
Great food and good service....we had 2 Yorkie puds for Sunday lunch but you only need 1 as they are enormous! Just busy enough without it being overcrowded.
Unfortunately the service was very slow. The starters were lovely but we were very disappointed with two of the four main meals we had. Considering the price of the meals we had expected better.
Visited The Wheel for Sunday lunch. Roast beef was tasty but a little chewy. Vegetables beautifully cooked and presented. Roast potatoes rather firm and not crispy enough for my liking. Overall, a pleasant meal if a little overpriced at £13.95. The dining area was full and the atmosphere was buzzing.
It was a wonderful meal in a wonderful setting. A little gem to have found in a pretty village. The food was restaurant standard and we were made to few very welcome.
Not up to the usual standard for The Wheel! We had the Venison Casserole which was not good some of the meat was undercooked and some was okay. However the staff were very good and friendly. I think they were having a problem with the chef that evening, so perhaps just a one off bad evening.
Fantastic ! Dickies Steaks were perfectly cooked as was the turbo and cod risotto. The service was outstanding... Our waitress was single handedly running the restaurant and was a credit to the Wheel nothing was too much trouble. We'll be back soon
Rather cold and uninviting with very slow service (waited for an hour for our main course). Meal was average at best with unpleasant dry bread bun for the beefburger and overcooked chips. Staff helpful and friendly but not coping with the demand.
Love this pub, great food, great atmosphere, no pretensions, fab staff, great prices, lovely selection of one and locally sourced food - what more could you want?
We had a fantastic valentines evening at The Wheel. The food was awesome and great service too, very attentive! Lovely ambience too and wasnt crammed full of tables. Would definitely recommend!
Very helpful and friendly staff, a lovely cosy environment and great food. We would highly recommend this restaurant to others and plan to return sometime
As always food was and service was excellent. Also catered without any problem for a fussy child and a vegetarian. Couldn't resist the desserts which were large portions.
my wife and I and 2 friends had a nice Sunday lunch after a country walk. We all had fish, which was great and the local beer was good too
Outstanding! Brilliant staff, great venue, absolutely awesome food - the steak was exceptional and really excellent wine.. 5***** on every level. Will certainly be back without a doubt.
This was our first visit to the Wheel in the evening and we were not disappointed. The food was great and so was the service. We will definately go again.
Staff great. Starter of mussels was overcooked. Wine good but horrendously overpriced. Did not have a dessert. Would we go back ? Possibly if in the area.
Nice menu, good food, pleasant staff, open fires, country pub atmosphere. Brilliant! Nice menu, good food, pleasant staff, open fires, country pub atmosphere. Brilliant! Really good!
Went for an early bird with family and friends. Lovely atmosphere, nice welcome and a good selection of ales. We found plenty to excite us on the varied menu with several game to choose from. Overall a great meal out. We will be back!
Unpretentious, comfortable and friendly country pub. Three good ales on pumps plus a guest cider. I liked that the pub maintains a bar alongside the restaurant style for the rest of the pub. Excellent food showcasing locally sourced food - a very good choice of game. A blazing real fire to make the place cosy and welcoming on a cold Saturday afternoon!
Food was good, service was excellent and atmosphere was good. Shall but good beer selection. We would definitely go back again maybe on one of the theme nights they do.
Been several times for food, which is delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Staff are polite and wanting to please. Menu changes frequently. You can't be in a hurry though, but it is very relaxing.
Excellent food with friendly service. We've been before and we will definitely return.
From start to finish the experience was exactly want we wanted, good atmosphere, excellent food, attentive and cheerfull staff. A wonderful village pub/restaurant. We are never disappointed with the Wheel Inn.
