Good value lunch. Service good if a little slow and the ambiance was warm with lots of Xmas decoration. Would definitely go again in the future.
Lovely meal and service was great. Used our taste card so got bogof starter and main. Great value
Been here around 5-6 times. Never had a bad experience. Quick service and amazing food as always!
Very good food and service at a reasonable price pleased this pub is on our doorstep would definitely recommend ( pies are excellent ) .
Awful! Table was reserved for 6.30pm, we arrived around 6.20pm, never been here before so we did not know the protocol. We walked passed an assistant sitting down sorting out the cutlery talking to (I assume two of the locals) she made no effort to assist us or ask anyone else. We then carried on into the next room, still with coats on trying to make eye contact with the two waitresses, to no avail. Then (we think the chef - in whites) passed us with half a pint of ale/bitter??? in his hand and walked into the kitchen. How unprofessional! Eventually a waitress came over to us and I explained we had a table reserved for 6.30pm (the place was practically empty) and she said that it was not ready and for us to wait in the bar. Eventually, we got seated around 7.00pm. Bearing in mind we had two small children 5 and 8 with us and that is why we booked an early table for 6.30pm. We placed our order, I ordered the sirloin steak medium to well and also stipulated that I did not want chips with mine and would like a house salad instead, my daughter ordered for my grandchildren chips, fish fingers and beans for one and mash, sausage and peas for the other. Our food eventually arrived nearly an hour later at around 8.00/8.10pm. Mine came with chips, I informed the waitress that I ordered the house salad instead of the chips, so she took it away and all that returned was a plate full of leaves, not happy I eventually got some sort of salad. My steak had been well done and not medium to well and to say it was warm is exaggerating. My grandchildren's meals were also mixed up, the one that should have got the peas got the beans and vice versa. By this time we were not impressed at all. The worst thing is that this was a special occasion as we were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary, so not just a meal out. We did get an apology and a reduction but all in all we will not return.
Lovely food, couldn’t fault the service either. Will defiantly be booking again, lovely country pub. They have a full selection of Gins, some of them that I’ve never heard of. All in all will be returning.
Lovely country Pub/Restaurant in an ideal setting. Outdoor play area for children, welcoming and polite staff and I will go as far as saying that the Steak I ordered was one of the best tasting steaks that I have had for a long time. Will def' pay a return visit.
Another very enjoyable meal the standard is always very good at The Unicorn's Head. The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is always good would recommend
Beautiful food and friendly staff. Kids meals were excellent and lots of choices for them to choose from. I would definitely recommend for Sunday carvery
A bit of a mixed bag. This is a really nice pub with a good atmosphere & friendly staff. My food (the duck special) was good. My wife's steak was badly undercooked & had to be sent back. We seemed to have 3 different staff serving our table who were all very pleasant but the arrangement appeared to cause confusion. Desserts were ordered but never came as the order wasn't put through & whilst the staff were very apologetic & we were offered a complementary dessert, after waiting for 25 minutes, we had to get back for the baby sitter. A shame really.
I had the steak sharer feast. Ordered it medium but it was medium rare and not very warm. Having previosly when it was brilliant, slightly disappointing. We will return
Excellent , customer care very good Portion size huge 😀 Very local so will be returning . Lovely atmosphere and good decor . Thank you 🙏
Great atmosphere and service the staff were super making sure my hungry grandparents were fed! Great gluten free options was good to have so much choice
Really enjoyed the food, everything was so tasty, and staff were lovely but service was a bit slow as they were all rushed off their feet. Took 2.5hrs to get through 2 courses.
The food was good. Restaurant very busy and we had to wait 40 minutes for out carvery. The whole experiences was ruined for us st the outset. We went on the Meerkat deal, two for one Sunday to Thursday, but were told the offer wasn't available at this pub on Sundays. We felt cheated and disappointed.
A really nice pub with a warm cozy feel to it and great place for food. Carvery on a Sunday is top draw. We will definitely be coming back.
Nice traditional food open fire, nice play area for the children but if you require a romantic evening would say it's more of a family pub
Food choice was very good. I had chicken tikka kebabs on hanging skewer which was very novel, cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Amazing value, had the early bird 2 courses for £11.95.
Meal was very good as was the service Restaurant was a bit noisy due to a Halloween party Quick service and helpful staff Thank you
A lovely pub that is larger than most with a good variety of food to choose from at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit and will definitely be going back with friends
Good honest food at a modest price, served in a lovely friendly environment. A nice antidote to the usual microwave meals you get in most chain pubs. Will be returning regularly.
Great warm welcome. Lovely attentive staff (they asked if we wanted to move tables as waitress could feel a draft). Food was a great carvery, the owner served us and told us a bit of the history of reopening after renovation. Absolutely stuffed but didn't want to leave any as so good. Kitchen open to see into and obviously run like clockwork. Place was lovely and the only minor criticism was the background music was too loud. If they could just turn that down a bit it would be absolutely excellent.
Good food, although not quite what we ordered it was tasty. Not very busy for a Saturday night but if it was I think service may have been slow, it was ok but didn’t want to be any slower, overall a good evening.
First time going here, went on a Sunday for just after 14:00 pm . Had the carvery meat was tough and the waitress very bad kept slamming things down , taking ages to bring stuff over that we had asked for etc . Didn’t even have a pudding as just wanted to leave felt uncomfortable .
Very good value for money dining experience All the party enjoyed their various meals ranging from pizzas hanging kebabs to excellent large carvery and nice sweets complimented by excellent service.
Booked table 4 weeks in advance. Did not get the table we booked. Placed on table which you would struggle to get 6 people round, next to the kitchen service hatch & infront of the carvery area. Moved to table in the bar area adjacent to the main outside door, when we requested a bigger table. This was crowded and cold area. Informed they were fully booked, so no other tables available. The service we then received was poor. This was supposed to be a family meal to remember our dad who we sadly lost 3 years ago. He loved a family meal in a pub, especially a Sunday roast. We were left disappointed and upset and will not be returning.
Excellent food, good service and friendly traditional pub atmosphere. Online booking table easy and efficient. Interesting menu with local produce, at reasonable prices. Will definitely return soon.
Great service , Food very good , A very pleasant experience .., The waitress we had was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble ..
We visited for Sunday lunch at 3:30, it was busy and we had been allocated a table right next to the kitchen pass, so managed to hear everything going on in the kitchen. Carved meats were very generously served with a good selection of fresh vegetables. Tasty food although a little disappointing as there being very little roast beef left and what was left was sinewy. Advertised on website as 3 courses for £20 but was actually £22.
If your hungry for a Sunday lunch this place takes the crown! What we thought was a tray turned out to be our plate! Lovely staff and good value! We’ll be back!!
Food was brilliant and the service was excellent. Chris looked after us all brilliantly. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you all :)
lovely evening meal for a Saturday night out. will be back
The unicorn was a very nice place to eat, we enjoyed our visit
First class food and service. I chose 12oz steak and peppercorn sauce and ordered medium it was cooked just to my liking. Christine chose catch of the day ( Cod ) in batter with chips and mushy peas was very tasty .Friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended .
Friendly staff great food good value for money would definitely recommend we have just moved into the village and will be back The little Deli shop within the pub selling local produce will be useful too
Varied menu, great food, good service and reasonably priced too. We really enjoyed our evening. Will definitely be going back to the Unicorn's Head again.
Very busy restaurant, it wasn’t necessary to reserve a table, good attentive staff, food good will return again Thank you. M Smith ( MHCIMA )
Very good service ,the food was very good to I would recommend
Very good food and the service was also good would recommend.
The food was good, the staff were nice and friendly. Pleasant surroundings. We were not rushed and the food came out to us in an acceptable time. I would recommend this restaurant.
Lovely and friendly. Food was good quality and excellent value. On a Sunday between six and eight they do two for one on their hanging kebabs.
It was great service with friendly staff, the food is always great- the best carvery in Nottingham. Full star rating from me and the family
We'd only ever had a drink here before today but will definitely be back again. Good food, service and ideal for family meals. Recommend the carvery for a decent Sunday lunch.
Really friendly and welcoming, great for families, great service and excellent food. Allowed us to make order then the kids went to play and they fetched us when food was ready.
A lovely meal as always, the staff are always welcoming and helpful and they now do an Early Bird menu which has an excellent choice at an excellent price
Brilliant, food was amazing and very good quality for money. Would definitely recommend to everyone. The pizzas are so tasty with lots of toppings. Will be sure to go again.
Great food and service Mums 90th birthday meal , made her feel special, good time had by all Would recommend to others ..... ..... .
3rd visit. Good wholesome food at good prices represents very good value. As always the staff were all very pleasant. Thanks again to all the team.
Friendly, helpful staff, modernised interior of a historic pub, good choice on the menu and reasonable quality food. The pub has a good amount of car parking and a very good children's playground including table tennis, badminton and bouncy castle.
