Saturday night visit - Great food, quite loud and busy atmosphere, service a little slow but overall a good experience. Would definitely return for another visit.
Cannot really fault the food, it was okay. service however was not so good. I Our waitress was hopeless. She toppled a drink all over the place. Couldn't under stand our drinks order. Didn't explain what the specials were, until asked. We had to wave at her to get another drink. To make matters worse my cousin found a random metal screw in her Linguine and after investigation they couldn't understand how it got there and didn't even offer her a free dessert!!
Lovely view of the river. Good food and service - although the wine is expensive for a pub! More so when 12.5; service charge added.
A great place to be, local historical London ambience at its best. What more could you want ...make sure you book a table over looking the Thames but of course other tables and outside good too, good food and great service!
Reception was excellent. Our guests had arrived from Sarrasota, Florida. Having been born and raised in Greenwich and visited the Trafalgar over many years, we thought an ideal location for our first time visitors. Our meal order was partly seafood linguine, unfortunately mussels were off the menu and very little seafood conten twas apparent. Most dissapointing. Fish ,chips and bangers O.K. They enjoyed the sweets and the Tavern itself. We found the service good but very slow.
Great location, good menu but food quality was poor. My family and I had a Sunday roast. Unfortunately the meat was bland and the roasts&yorkshires had quite obviously been cooked hours before our arrival and had been warmed up for our (full priced) meal. Very disappointed. Perhaps a better experience for a sunday roast would be to arrive around 12/1...? We arrived at 4ish. Lovely wine menu and the best view, real shame about the food.
We had a lovely meal overlooking the river at a window table. The food was good, as was the service, and all at a reasonable price.
Fantastic place location and setting. By the river at one of my favourite spots in London Greenwich. British tradition for more intellectual tourists and visitors
Perfect location for a long boozey lunch with an old friend - table for 2 in the bay window overlooking the river and in the shade, with refreshing "sea" breezes much welcomed during this hot spell! Food was good, if not the best ever, and the service charming.
Great food and good service waitress very helpful would recommend to friends and family. Not the biggest of menus but what they do they do well.
Service was terrible, actually worse than that even. Waited for our food over an hour and drinks for a good half hour. The whole place was a shambles and despite having ended up not paying for the food I would never return there. Their food is average and you can get the same quality anywhere with far better service.
Waited over an hour for food. Nobody came to see us after the order. I asked one manager to check on our food and he never came back. Food was ok but service terrible
It was very noisy and there was an hour wait for food. The food was OK but not worth the money or the wait
It was really nice and the view is spectacular :) I will definitely recommend and return over and over again Thank you and all the best :)
The food was very good, unfortunately the starter and main were served at the same time which was bizarre. The process of having to order everything at the bar was slow , cumbersome and bordered on being rude. One main course and one wine was not avaiable - not a good look. Having made a booking no one seemed the least bit interested when we arrived except a very helpful waitress who did her best for us on being told it was our 50th wedding anniversary this tear and our Reception 50 years ago was at the Trafalgar Tavern. It is ridiculous to have to queue for 10-12 minutes to place an order and to have to do that several times for each order. If you continue to treat the paying public like this you do not deserve to be in business.
We were unimpressed with the food, the service, the tidiness, and the quality. I feel like this place could be more professional and organized. It feel more like a college bar watering hole.
I had the most lovely Sunday lunch with an amazing window seat , perfect food and perfect setting . I'll definitely be going back soon
Beautiful pub for the summer. Great on hot days as you can sit by the river
Booked a table and there were no tables! We came to the grandparents and found there was no place we could sit. We then had to find somewhere else.
Food was OK; servers were pleasant and friendly. The guy behind the bar should be asked to stop dropping bottles into the waste bin; and the coffee machine should be moved out of the dining area - they both add to the already high level of noise.
Food was overpriced for what it was - we have have had better in other pubs around London. We sat in the bar area at a nice window table as it was a hot Saturday lunch but the bar staff allowed 3 mothers with 4 children and 1 screaming baby into the bar area - not sure what the law is on this but I will find out and look to contact Trafalgar Tavern - much to the annoyance and upset of all the patrons in the bar at that time. One patron went to the particular person and asked them to keep their child quiet - but a bar area with young children is not acceptable. We did not stay for drinks or coffee or desserts and others also left when we did - very poor management on this occasion - I will never visit again and have enjoyed some nice meals in the past here.
The trafalger is having renovations nothing about this online...we had to move tables as drilling so loud. However we managed to get a great table outside...food was good however service is very slow...hope this is just a transitional period as love this place!
I booked on strength of two previous visits which were great. This time I booked a table for 8 at 6pm, had two 40” tv screens blaring out the polish World Cup match at maximum volume and indifferent staff. I had to stand queue several times at the bar for service while dinner went cold..... words fail me to describe the overall experience.
We dined there on last Friday night and the entree's and mains all were served together, the mains were taken back and re-heated on serving. The pasta was dry and the chicken kebabs dry. The bar staff were less than helpful and the whole atmosphere of the dining experience was awful. We felt as if we were a nuisance rather than being relaxed with good food and service. Probably won't go back.
Booked a table for 2pm, sat down at 2:30. We were not in the restaurant as it was being redecorated and the main bar area was very noisy. Food was mediocre and took a long time; we had our main course at 3:40 which was disappointing as we had made a booking for 2pm.
We love it there. Great food, great service and a superlative position by the river. Always our first choice in Greenwich. Great with children too.
Excellent food. However, when we arrived they didn't have any table for us (even if we were in time). We ended up in a tiny table!
The food was good (we sampled two of the Sunday roasts, lamb and pork) and the views were great. Apparently a new restaurant will be opening at The Trafalgar soon but we eat im the main bar which was certainly lively - if a little noisy! We'd be happy to eat there again, it's a lovely location.
Good starters and mains but slow service and dessert order was completely wrong. Good drink selection but expecting more of a restaurant feel for the prices on the menu
We arrived for our booked table at 12.30 - we were then told they couldn't serve lunch for two hours because decorators were there. Apparently the Manager was supposed to call us!
The food was very good but the service was very slow. This may have been because a wedding was taking place. Would like to see what the restaurant looks like after the refurbishment as it looked rather sad with the floors having been prepared for the refurb.
The restaurant wasn’t busy but we struggled to get any attention from the staff. The food took over an hour to come out and nobody checked to see if we had everything. There were missing parts to meals and no condiments. The food was lukewarm and not worth the price. When complaining, the waitress and manager just shared very flat apologies with no gesture of goodwill or enquiries to ask how they could improve. Never going back. It ruined what was an otherwise lovely day in Greenwich.
Lovely atmosphere, but - we had to ask for the butter for the starter, it said there would be butter, we had ti ask for salt and pebber, the salt was empty.., it took 20 minutes befor our starter plates where taken, and again 30 minutes befor the main course came. I afsked for one glass of wine, I was afsked if I wanted a bottle, I answered, no one glass, I was then asked, two glasses, NO. So unfortunately it did absolutely NOT live up to my expectation for a lovely evening on our last day in England. Best pub along the Thames, dont Think so...
Excellent venue, friendly and accommodating staff, fantastic views of the river. Would recommend this venue for a quick drink or a formal dinner. Will definitely be coming back.
Incredibly slow service. Also got our drinks and food orders wrong. Felt forgotten about in the corner inside whilst it was busy outside. Main courses were cold. Disappointing.
Great food for meat eaters and vegetarians who want dairy free, plus a selection of real ales. Superb service by the team. Recommend a visit.
Fantastic location especially on a sunny day. Food was good. Staff were obliging and friendly. Not just one for the tourists! Worth giving it a try.
Really lovely location and staff are friendly, but the service is really slow and a bit chaotic - they were understaffed for a busy Saturday lunch time and we were constantly having to flag people down to chase things we'd ordered but hadn't received, ask for cold, dirty starter plates to be removed before the mains were put down, etc. Food itself was OK - nothing to write home about, but serviceable enough pub grub.
Been here 4 times over the past 5 yrs for the “Sunday Roast”! The best in London!! Delicious food, great service, wonderful view and atmosphere!
Trafalgar Tavern is in a very nice location overlooking the Thames. Food and service very good. Our experience (there were 5 of us) was very good.
Terrible service and inconsistent food - also overpriced. Would like to go back - great location - but based on our experience will have to pass and go elsewhere
A restaurant I like and frequent fairly often but I have never thought about it in detail before and have never been asked to complete one of these things. I had lunch today with a friend who had never been before. It is therefore best to reflect her reactions. The ambience on a sunny spring day with the Thames practically in touching reach outside the window, the period feel, the history, the decor all very impressive - 6; the service wasn't rushed but was attentive and correct - 6; we had to have the whitebait - I always do - but so did she and it scores a 6; the main course was well cooked and very tasty but perhaps could have been better presented - 5. I didn't pay but the price was good value in my view. RS
starter was great. Rack of Lamb very small for the price and not very tender. Service was very extremely poor considering the very high prices
The place was buzzing. Staff were attentive and helpful. The food was excellent. Our party of four all had a great time and the location, overlooking the Thames is wonderful. It was so difficult not to automatically choose the whitebait but I opted for trout salad - delicious. One of the party is ‘gluten free’ which proved no problem at all. The remaining two had the Sunday Roast - wow, what a good amount of food! And puddings - could have eaten them all. Love that the place smells kind of wood-smokey - owing to the fire. Will definitely return.
Service was rather slow; the vegetables with my hake main course were very underdone; likewise the apple and pastry of my tarte tatin. My wife liked her fish and chips - the chips were the largest we have ever seen! Just seven chips were more than enough. In fact she passed two over to me and left one on her plate. The view from our window table was great. Interesting place with all its nautical history so well worth going for that alone.
This is a rare and very special location in London. I'll never get used to the view out onto the river. The food is good too !
Food and service are very good (roasted squash and kale appetizer was amazing), but I had forgotten how incredibly noisy it can get in there. All hard surfaces and highish ceilings. No tablecloths or curtains or anything to soften the noise. We tired of shouting at each other.
It's a lovely looking pub with an incredible view. Our waiter was very friendly. Unfortunately the food was not great - not a great deal of love had gone into it.
The food is very average, wonderful scenery and service good. I love this pub and was disappointed that the quality of the food is not as good as it used to be.
The Trafalgar has the best river view in London Spectacular specially at high tide. The food was very good . Except for a very over cooked hamburger and at full cheese. Board(£10.59) Fish and chips were excellent , as was the very rare rack of lamb , though it came as 2 chips rather than a rack and was a little overpriced at £23. Good deserts. The occasion was made by the service and our delightful waitress . She was funny and sweet and very helpful .
