Great table, amazing view, nice setting, good service. It was a nice afternoon with friends.
Pleasant, historic and very popular place for Sunday lunch. Food of reasonable quality but you pay slightly over the odds for the location and view.
Very long wait for food which was not very good' . One of our party had to wait a further 15 minutes after the rest of us were served. Shame as location is superb
We ordered the whitebait as it had been recommended on a tv programme and were not disappointed. A generous portion and very tasty. Nice pub with great views over the Thames. Would recommend it. Not happy about the so called 'discretionary' 12.5% service charge added to the bill though. We are always happy to leave a tip if we receive good service, which we did, but would prefer to make that choice ourselves.
I went to the Trafalgar tavern on Sunday the 14th of December 2014. I booked a week before, a table for five people and asked to be seated in a nice spot, nearby the windows on the river. We went there for a Xmas lunch and we picked a three courses menu. The table was okay, maybe a bit small for five people, it was located nearby the doors of the busy kitchen but the view from it was nice. The food was average and when we asked for some bread, we only got three small slices (to be divided between five adults), when we asked for more bread we got an extra fourth slice and when we asked for some more bread a third time we got a fifth slice. The bread issue was a very unfortunate one and really marked negatively the overall service. The puddings were pretty bad: over cooked chocolate suffle and I got only half Xmas pudding, the other half was probably lost during plating of the dish. Some of the wines on the list were not available and the toilets were not clean! The booking system was, on the other end, pretty efficient. The place has a great architecture and a great charme, but the management needs improvement because as it is, it is not good enough.
It was New Year's day so it was very quiet. The ambience was very good. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding. Would certainly go again and would recommend it to friends.
Lovely riverside location with tasteful decor and atmosphere. Food excellent with prompt friendly service. Plenty of space between tables so did not feel overcrowded. Good value for money.
Great location. Food was good and staff helpful. It's a shame that a non alcoholic beer was not available.
Nice food, lovely staff, great views of river etc. Restaurant stops taking orders around 6pm on Sundays - a bit early! The rooms are lovely but not very warm - very draughty windows.
Good food Scaffolding is still up Nice service Wine a bit warmer than we would like but overall a nice Sunday lunch
Excellent warm & cosy on a cold day . Menu was extensive & reasonably prices . Chose unusual bread starter - delicious !! & the traditional Whitebait was splendid . Claire was a most efficient & pleasant waitress but was overworked as she only had 1 colleague to look after the busy restaurant & the saloon bar which was packed . We hope they both enjoy much more than the minimum wage ; they certainly deserve for such outstanding service . All in all a most enjoyable lunch - highly recommended Gordon & Judith H
Lovely venue, very friendly and accommodating staff, we were a little taken back that we had to pay £1.00 for each Yorkshire pudding. The lamb was something you get for school dinners. However the pork was amazing. Its pricey for what you get and i did expect more from this establishment. would i return? maybe!!
The view was fabulous, food and service good, but it was so noisy we had to shout to speak to each other. Will avoid the Xmas party season in future.
This was a lovely relaxing evening and venue, the food was wonderful the staff very attentive. We were not rushed and it was lovely to relax after the meal and enjoy a drink. I would recommend this resturant and will definitely be going back.
Tasty food but food was slow to arrive with only one other table, waited 40 mins for the food to arrive
Ambience is great but the food a let down. Sausage and mash should be a winner and difficult to get wrong but it was a very poor meal. The sausages in particular were clearly low quality and undercooked. Sorry but I think charging more and delivering more would be the way to go.
Excellent service and food, can't fault it. Service with a smile and served in very quick time, perfect. Good selection of wine and beers and excellent children's portions. Will be going again when we visit London.
Good was not as good as usual but maybe it was because they are busy with the Christmas menu too
Our visit worked well, mainly because of the excellent staff. Food good also.
easy booking system, excellent service, very friendly staff, great food, location lovely ,just the sea bass had too much soy sauce making the dish very salty, chef was advised of this and apology given.
The vegetarian selection is limited and could be improved. The rest of the menu I believe to be good. Service good, place and location fantastic.
One of the great restaurant rooms in London. but the food is very mediocre. Out of a limited range of wines on the menu a third was not available.
Good food, friendly professional service. Relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
What a great location for lunch with our guests from Italy. We had a really sweet waitress who looked after us very well. Sunday roast was great too. Would definitely recommend the Trafalgar and will go again when we're next in Greenwhich
Enjoyed the meal but not the 45 minute wait with no apology.
Good food and a great location. Service a bit slow.
A very enjoyable experience all round, with very good choice of food
Service was slow but friendly , took an age to order a bottle of wine and the selection was poor. Food was was good but not outstanding. There seemed a lack of staff which may explain the slow service. I think compared to other bistro pubs they are lacking but I would go again.
We say outside in the sunshine, which was nice, apart from the extensive display of scaffolding covering the fascia. However, the real issue was the food. We both opted for the Sunday roast -beef for me, lamb for my friend. They were visually identical and we're still not entirely sure whether the lamb was actually lamb! The beef was plentiful but leathery and lukewarm with little flavour and much chewing required. Blunt knives did not aid the process of turning these meaty slabs into edible mouthfuls. The worlds tiniest Yorkshire pudding sat atop the meat; beneath, limp vegetables and thin yellowish gravy. Not impressive and at £17:50 for the beef, you'd expect excellence. Won't be back unless they hire a new chef.
A bit expensive but great food! £8.50 for a large glass of wine!
Ambience and view over river excellent but the food left a lot to be desired. I had the lamb roast - not cheap at £16.50 - but I'm afraid, it fell well below standard, the vegetables in particular were dehydrated and tasteless! Having said that, it was very busy because the Tall Ships festival was on and we ate at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I would go back there and give the food another try. If you just a drink in a nice atmosphere in a pub steeped in history then I would highly recommend a visit.
Really nice, food and wine was great the only thing I would say was we were seating right at the end with not much atmosphere and we were entertaining family from outside London. But didn't matter much this time as we had lots to catch up on.
Shockingly awful service, high prices, got charged for a Yorkshire pudding , wines not available from wine list, staff who can't understand simple orders. Just rubbish! Go elsewhere! Seriously.
Lovely restaurant. Shame about the scaffold. Also when asked to swap potatoes for chips told not possible, had to order as separate side. Seemed ridiculous. All else good.
Can't believe we were ask to leave as someone had book table after us we had just spent £97 won't go back again
Way too expensive for what it was, I would have been happy paying half the price. Yorkshire puddings were obviously from a packet. Very disappointing considering the good reviews.
Lovely food and more than generous portions. On the day we visited the restaurant was very busy and there was a considerable wait for our food. However, the staff were very apologetic and we were given free drinks to make up for the wait so it did not spoil the experience. The view from the large windows over the river was a good one and the tables were well spaced out so it was comfortable.
Excellent staff. Great food and ambience. Super location. Very pleasant evening.
Had a great Sunday lunch overlooking the Thames. Nice atmosphere.
Excellent service!! Amazing food! Table by the window with tall ships and fireworks- a perfect evening!
Very pleasant, nice vibes, good starter and nice to see frites on the menu, very nice bearnaise with my steak
Very friendly service. Excellent kitchen. Would definitely visit again in the near future.
Good food, reasonable service but slow on attention to detail (e.g. no steak knives provided until we'd almost finished our meals, no spoon provided for one of the first courses which required one, slow to appreciate when more drinks were required). Just little things like that but when you add them together.... Still, overall it was a better experience than the previous time we went there.
Great venue, pleasant waiting staff, good food. Unfortunately the canned music is just so intrusive. The meal would be a much better experience without it.
Great lovely location to relax in a friendly environment after a busy day at work you can't fault this place
The service was good Food better than average. The view makes everything more enjoyable and the art on the walls adds to the overall experience
Lovely ambience let down by very average cooking. On this visit most of us had roasts. The meat was reasonably well done but the veg was poorly cooked.
Lovely historic pub with delicious food and great views along the Thames. We were disappointed by the service, which wasn't very attentive, despite it being a quiet Monday night.
Fabulous location, food and service. Reasonable prices too. A cut above the usual London pub restaurant. We were there on a Monday night and it was comfortably busy.
Good Sunday lunch but charged £2 for asking for more gravy! Very poor customer service , meal spoilt by pubs greed . Such a shame
