Despite reserving a table for September 2018 back in May, The Tommyfield had not bothered to check for the existence of the reservation. Probably by chance just one table was available. Service was then extremely slow apparently because they were short staffed. That said the quality of the food was very good.
Great choice of veggie options and very friendly efficient service. I was torn between the veggie pie and the battered halloumi although the pasta dish looked good too!
I had a great time. I went to Tommyfield to see the comedy upstairs, but got there early to have something to eat first. Great venue, with great food & friendly service..:)
Amazing Camembert board with fantastic sweet potato fried and honey!
Great gastro pub. Friendly staff, vibrant but not too noisy could talk. Pies were awesome
Food and service was very average, not sure if it's changed hands? The older waitress was lovely but that's it.. Cauliflower cheese was a £6 as a side order & there was absolutely no cheese in sight and the cauliflower was mushy! Escalated to staff but nothing done, item still on the bill even though it wasn't touched. I won't rush back nor would I recommend. The Tommyfield has definitely dropped it's standard of food and service. Its a shame.
Lovely pies and great service. Not a huge selection of ales but can wash down a nice pie with a camden pale. Overall very positive
Great food, service started off great, the waitress finished her shift half way through our meal. After this, the service was terrible, it took 30 minutes for our finished mains plates to be cleared, i think we had be forgotten about
Ordered the beer-battered halloumi, which was really tasty, and the chips as good as always. Was placed at a table with a breeze in a cooler part of the restaurant by the waiter, as it was quite hot where we were initially! Had a tastecard for 50% off food, so really good value! Paid at the bar and ordered a couple of extra drinks at the same time, which had service charge put on them as well, which was annoying (as this was another c.£1.50 on the bill for drinks which I got myself). Still, great meal and got served quickly before the comedy.
Lovely quick lunch, steak sandwich was amazing, wrap was good but could of been a little bigger. Service great but maybe a bit slow at time.
great place as usual. good service. nice atmosphere. my local favourite
The staff were so lovely and attentive. The food was served quickly and was delious. Wine menu offered a great choice and we particularly enjoyed the Gavi we ordered.
It is a very friendly eatery with a great atmosphere and nice food. Followed by a great comedy show upstairs! Definitely a place to return to.
Had an excellent time at the Tommyfield. A nice, relaxed pub, which serves great food and had a really nice, friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Good people to deal with, room clean and very well presented, good choice of food and cooked well, overall would recommend only issue is with the traffic noise at the front, rear facing rooms may be quieter
Lovely food and drink, the menu is fairly short but changes regularly. Interesting specials and pies. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The comedy club upstairs on a Thursday is an extra treat. Enjoy good food and big laughs all at one venue.
One of the best Sunday roasts in London. The food and service is always good. Even though it gets busy it never feels too packed.
Delicious, home cooked food with a good amount of variety. Restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, and food/drinks were reasonably priced for London. Will definitely be back soon.
decent food, not bad for a pub, reasonably priced. prompt food service, dog friendly. generally attentive staff. could do with a bit more atmosphere and cleaning
Love a bit of the Tommyfield :) Great food and staff are lovely as always; as are the cocktails. A nice chilled, relaxed space and would highly recommend.
Not a great experience, service was slow and the food arrived cold. Although it is not overly expensive, I still feel that this is not a place that could be described as value for money. I will not be going back.
I was running late so I called to let them know- the person on the phone was very polite- he advised that was ok and they are looking forwards to seeing us- when we go there, literally 3minutes after the phone call- the lady at the tills advised that the kitchen was closed and they couldn't serve us, I explained to her that I called and someone said it was ok- she was very moody (she could have been tired)- she reluctantly went to speak to the cooks who was ok with taking our order. The waiter who took our order was very polite- the food was not as good as it has been in the pass, - but the pudding was delicious. So the experience was not all bad- but for the price, the service should have been better.
good wine and food. my local regular place. i wish they would bring back Chateaubriand steak.
Disappointing service and food Grilled aubergine didn’t taste like aubergine, no flavour, very greasy, should’ve returned to the kitchen
Great pub. Traditional pub food amazingly cooked and then for the gluten free vegan (me) the broccoli with spinach butternut squash and tofu was super amazing. I loved it.
The Tommyfield has great food, great service and the best comedy night ever - a most enjoyable evening was had and we can't wait to return!
The Tommyfield. Service was quick. Staff were helpful. Typical gastro pub food menu. Food was good and the pies in particular are excellent. Would recommend.
The food was fabulous. I had the veggie nut roast and it was SO delicious. I’d highly recommend it for a Sunday roast. Make sure you book.
as usual good visit. friendly staff. good food. good beers and wines. this is my local place and i come here a lot. good job guys.
Great food, just the pub quiz was a little loud while we had dinner. Would recommend the pie and mash they are delice. Great place to catch up for a chat.
A lovely Sunday roast. I'm usually suspicious of pub roasts but this one was lovely! Good service, great food and were showing the 6 nations....doesn't get any better.
Very good food, great atmosphere and super service. Comedy club co-located upstairs. Highly recommend having pre-show dinner downstairs. Good selection of beers on tap. 6/6
Sunday lunch was fantastic - beef was tender and veg was seasonal and perfectly presented! Great Yorkshire to conpliament; just what you would expect from a Sunday pub lunch. Service was fast but if you wanted to order/ request desert you had to always signal readiness rather than them preempting. Will definitely be back for more!
My girlfriend and I often come here for lunch or dinner and it is always good. Last night though it broke the mound and was actually quite poor. Over cooked steak, over cooked chicken, undercooked chips. We didn’t say anything at the time as the place wasn’t absolutely rammed busy and didn’t want to cause a fuss. Rest assured we will be back, but hopefully it will be as good as it has been in the past.
The staff were really friendly (if a bit over-eager). The food was just the right side of acceptable, although elements were stone cold while others were piping hot, suggesting maybe some poor timing in the kitchen. It also took almost an hour for our food to arrive as a result of one of our party ordering just a starter, but it was made clear that the mains should not be held up as a result. We had to chase up our food in order for it to be eventually brought to us.
Yummy dining & delicious quaffs, plus decent laughs upstairs of Thursdays (#AlwaysBeComedy). This is hidden treasure - just up the road from Lambeth County Court
Very friendly. Great food. Would certainly visit again. Real gem of a place in an area of a London not swamped with the price/quality ratio on offer here
The Tommyfield is part of the Three Cheers Pub Group and displays the usual high standards that we have come to expect from the establishments in this ownership. Here you will find ample portions of up market pub grub with a twist and friendly attentive service. Not the place to go for cheap eats but nevertheless good value for money. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed it as did my friend. The service was good and the food very well prepared and cooked. Overall a good experience and I come here again.
Service was great , the lady who served us were smiling and really nice, starter were small and a bit plain but mains huge and tasty.
Delicious roasts, good and friendly service. The sticky toffee pudding was also great. I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Tommyfield. I hear their pies are excellent too.
I thought the food was mediocre, given the price and definition of gastropub, though this seemed to be my opinion only. It did lack a bit of atmosphere and was more boring than upscale and trendy.
Very nice place but as it's near to Xmas it was noisy. Our waiter made several mistakes but the food was tasty. It's probably unfair to review at this time. We will go again in the New Year and feedback more precisely then.
Service good, food average. Steak ordered medium rare but came at least medium. Mashed potato with pie was cold. Quite expensive for what it is.
Haven't eaten here for a while but it's usually my go-to local eatery as the food has been very good and the atmosphere warm (noisy). Rather disappointed last night - nothing major but the dishes were unremarkable to the point of being bland: the gravadlax starter, though sweet and melting, lacked any sharpness to give it a tang; roasted squash with tofu, giant couscous and salad greens looked amazing but again was disappointingly under-seasoned/under-dressed. My guests ate respectively the pork belly (usually a winner) and the venison pie (which arrived with a ring of blackened, burnt pastry around the edge) and both were deemed 'fine' with a half-hearted smile - damned with faint praise. Both of them felt the portion of accompanying mash was surprisingly mean. We skipped dessert. On the plus side the prices are (IMO) reasonable.
What a wonderful time we had, great food and atmosphere helped by very friendly staff, you would be a fool not to check out the comedy on a Thursday night, really good comedians and a few surprise big names who come back to where it started!
Nice pub, good food and good drink. A little bit pricey. The website advertises a happy hour which doesn't exist in reality. Staff were friendly and helpful, although one (on trial) was utterly clueless. I don't think he'll get a job.
excellent food as ever - shame about the ribs running out but everyone happy. service faultless as it always is there - best pub in Kennington
Great food, their pies are a specialty, try them. Friendly service, good attention to drink refills. Good sized portions. great comedy upstairs. A great night out!
I love The Tommyfield...great food, great ambiance. They consistently have fresh, delicious meat pies. The only complaint was that they burned the halloumi...but I still love the place.
