Quality food significantly above pub standard in a relaxed, nicely lit atmosphere with good ambient music. All served by friendly and attentive staff. A varied menu and extensive wine list
I went for a quick bite to eat on my own. Was given the choice of a table or dining at the bar. I choose the bar as I was dining alone and was more comfortable at the bar. Excellent service. Lovely food.
Good, steak was exceptionally good. Will go back again (especially for quiz night). Pies also look amazing, especially the wild boar use with mash potato.
We had a really nice lunch. Plenty of choice on the menu, including the specials. Lovely fresh fish. Good friendly service, nice atmosphere. Good wine list. We enjoyed it and will go again.
Great food!! right in the centre of Kennington. Great beers and wines. There is also a great pub quiz every Tuesday (which we didn't win!)
As we were staying here overnight (accommodation very good) decided to arrange Sunday evening reunion meal with friends. Staff happy to wait for delayed guests to arrive. Friendly enough staff but slow service. Waited long time for drinks/wine to be served, eventually went to bar to request. Shared platter starter so slow in coming we thought it had been forgotten. Pies were liked but fish average, peas only warm and roast turkey dry. One disappointing dessert, so returned it, which staff handled well. Overall disappointing first visit with mediocre food but good atmosphere and we still enjoyed our evening.
We enjoyed the food. Staff were friendly and seemed happy. Service was slightly inattentive and staff did not seem to communicate with each other or with the hostess.
Food was good, however there was a bit of a wait. Staff on the other hand was a letdown as they didn't communicate well with each other; when we walked in we told the waitress that we had a reservation and were seated promptly in her session. A couple of minutes later we were approached by quite a rude waiter who told us with a condescending tone that: this table is for eating customers only. The waitress was good, but the visit was spoiled slightly by the aggressive waiter. Wine was good and food nice as well.
really good food and service was really good - even more so as it was very busy. been several times and I love the ambience and the fact you are not chased away to leave the table for other customers.
Wonderful dinner, great service .My friends and I enjoy everything. It was my third time at this restaurant and again I was not disappointed .
Lovely food, let down somewhat by dirty beer glasses (quickly replaced) and serving staff that didn't seem to care about letting us pay at the end.
Booked a table as they were Celebrating Pies in March - "our pubs will be offering even more incredible pies than usual, including wild boar, rabbit and chorizo; or sweet potato, kale and feta filo for those looking for something a little lighter." So it was rather disappointing for the vegetarian member of the group to find no choice of pie for her on this particular day. Also we picked a bad day for a meal as it turned out there was football on a large screen, so it was rather noisy and hard to hear each other. The food and service was good though.
I had not been to the Tommyfield in a while because of the bad service received on my many previous visits. It's a shame as the food is always amazing. I have been back twice in as many weeks and the service has lately been spot on. They've got me back as a regular
The pies we had (wild boar and steak and ale) were excellent and the Belgian -St Stefanus beer went very well them. The service was excellent and friendly. Will definitely recommend it to friends.
Great place to eat. Great selection of pies. The chateaubriande is a must too! Taste card gives excellent value as well. Been here many times and will return.
Beautiful beef roast cooked to perfection, perfect sized portion, free glass of Prosecco for every mum on Mother's Day which made it even better for my mum . Service top draw. Will definitely be a regular from now on.
I had a lovely meal. Food quality was excellent. Knowledgeable attentive staff who didn't impose, but made sure you had everything you needed. I would recommend without hesitation.
Delicious food, particularly the whole baked Camembert. Busy atmosphere with the football on which was slightly distracting, but would definitely recommend for weekend lunches if there isn't too much football on
Unfortunately dogs are now no longer welcome except in the bar area and its badly understaffed. Though the ones working there are good. Not returning
Top quality home made pies I return often to have my chicken and leek yummy .overrall a nice evening out do book a table as can get busy
Very good service and the food was amazing. I have never tried sweet potatoes chips with honey. That is my new favorite thing. Thank you very much Tommyfield
First time I've had a roast here. Delicious and one of the best I've had in a long time.....hard to find a good roast in London these days!
Been here many times and always left very happy. All the food is great value particularly the roasts, and the pies are second to none! In fact I have yet to find anything at all in the menu that I wasn't entirely happy with. It's also a great relaxed family environment, so ideal if you have kids. They often have the football on over the weekend which isn't obtrusive so I wouldn't let that put you off.
I eat at The Tommyfields reasonably often. It doesn't disappoint. The staff are always pleasant and friendly. They are knowledgable about the menu and are attentive without being intrusive. The quality of food is excellent.
Waited 45 minutes for our food order. No cutlery on the table when food was delivered. All the floor and kitchen staff seemed to be on auto pilot, no sense of urgency. My worst experience at The Tommyfield for sure and I usually rave about the place.
Great food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I chose one of the pie specials (chicken and leak) and it was delicious, I'd highly recommend a visit
As a regular I find Tommyfield to be consistently great in terms of quality of food, ambiance, friendly staff. I would recommend it to anyone.
Great food, friendly staff & a good price. We visited on a Sunday & had roast dinner & the sausage & mash. Good portion sizes! Sticky toffee pudding was tasty.
Good food, especially pies, good beer, but understaffed, resulting in some long waits for service. Would definitely go again but more bar staff are needed.
As always, a very nice meal. Slightly slower service than usual tonight. But we weren't kept wait. Lovely food as always. And very friendly staff.
Great (challenging) pub quiz and fantastic, fresh food. Would definitely recommend going on a Tuesday night. It was very busy though, so definitely book a table.
Fantastic food, good service and a great ambience. The three key factors to an enjoyable evening meal. The Tommyfield was great and will definitely visit again.
Great food and service. A good place for a pint and another....
Good food and enough choices for vegetarians and great service! Book a table - gets really busy from very early in the evening. Highly recommended!
Second time visiting here and was a very busy lunch service. Service was still happy and prompt and the food is fantastic. The pies are the best in London! We will be back!
Great food, we've been there lots of times - the home made pies are to die for. This week stayed overnight in one of their great rooms. Fantastic, even though you don't get breakfast you have juice, fruit and cereal in your fridge for morning as well as the obligatory tea & coffee. Would definitely stay again.
Good food, good atmosphere, good service! We had two courses and two drinks for under £60 so really good value for money. Rib. Eye streak was fabulous.
Monday nights are quiet so the staff were more attentive than usual. Food was excellent as always. And all brilliant value for money when using tastecard.
Food and service great. We came to watch the rugby which was good as the big screen dominates. Not good for any couples hoping for romance on Valentine's day.
Amazing and great service, above everything the food is delicious
We spent New Year's Eve here. Very good food and atmosphere. The wait staff were extremely attentive and the final bill was very reasonable. I would definitely return.
Booked a table for 6 for a friends birthday. The service and the food was fantastic and I will definitely be dining there again in the future.
Food was tasty and well presented. With 50% off food offer it was good value for money. Unfortunately the service was very slow and having come in with our dog we didn't feel like she was at all welcome even thought it's a dog friendly pub.
Nice atmosphere, however even though I had booked a table I was notified upon arrival that I only had the table for one hour and 45 minutes. Rather unusual for a pub, where people gather to spend an evening at their leisure. Perhaps more unusual is that if you don't reserve a table you can't sit down anywhere. While this might be rather good for business, it is not so great for its customers. A good pub, friendly staff, good food, but let down by self illusions of grandeur
The service was cheerful and the food was good. The football was on the big screen and although I like football I was hoping for a quieter relaxing evening, maybe I should of done a little more research about what happens at the pub on certain evenings - apart from that all was good.
A delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere. The pie is top notch and accompanied by perfectly cooked cabbage. A real pleasure. I was too full for a pudding but those I saw on other tables looked lovely.
Great food, nice atmosphere. Watch out for the January promotion 50% off food all week except Saturday and Sunday. We always enjoy our meals there
Food and service was great. But the table area was quite cold. So much so that I had to keep my coat an at all times. The rest of the restaurant is fine, but the last table before the bathroom should either have a manual heater or not be used in very cold days.
Food was mixed, some of the burgers were medium rare and others overcooked. We had a half price offer for food so was worth it. Problem with the bill at the end but overall a good atmosphere.
Don't go here if you are a real ale fan. The cask conditioned ales are just not looked after very well. Tonight, there was only one option and the beer was cloudy and undrinkable. This is a consistent theme when visiting this pub but nobody seems to care enough to inmprove the situation. On the upside, the food arrived promptly and was tasty but I would have loved to have my drink of choice to accompany.
