The Tommyfield is part of the Three Cheers Pub Group and displays the usual high standards that we have come to expect from the establishments in this ownership. Here you will find ample portions of up market pub grub with a twist and friendly attentive service. Not the place to go for cheap eats but nevertheless good value for money. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed it as did my friend. The service was good and the food very well prepared and cooked. Overall a good experience and I come here again.
Service was great , the lady who served us were smiling and really nice, starter were small and a bit plain but mains huge and tasty.
Delicious roasts, good and friendly service. The sticky toffee pudding was also great. I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Tommyfield. I hear their pies are excellent too.
I thought the food was mediocre, given the price and definition of gastropub, though this seemed to be my opinion only. It did lack a bit of atmosphere and was more boring than upscale and trendy.
Very nice place but as it's near to Xmas it was noisy. Our waiter made several mistakes but the food was tasty. It's probably unfair to review at this time. We will go again in the New Year and feedback more precisely then.
Service good, food average. Steak ordered medium rare but came at least medium. Mashed potato with pie was cold. Quite expensive for what it is.
Haven't eaten here for a while but it's usually my go-to local eatery as the food has been very good and the atmosphere warm (noisy). Rather disappointed last night - nothing major but the dishes were unremarkable to the point of being bland: the gravadlax starter, though sweet and melting, lacked any sharpness to give it a tang; roasted squash with tofu, giant couscous and salad greens looked amazing but again was disappointingly under-seasoned/under-dressed. My guests ate respectively the pork belly (usually a winner) and the venison pie (which arrived with a ring of blackened, burnt pastry around the edge) and both were deemed 'fine' with a half-hearted smile - damned with faint praise. Both of them felt the portion of accompanying mash was surprisingly mean. We skipped dessert. On the plus side the prices are (IMO) reasonable.
What a wonderful time we had, great food and atmosphere helped by very friendly staff, you would be a fool not to check out the comedy on a Thursday night, really good comedians and a few surprise big names who come back to where it started!
Nice pub, good food and good drink. A little bit pricey. The website advertises a happy hour which doesn't exist in reality. Staff were friendly and helpful, although one (on trial) was utterly clueless. I don't think he'll get a job.
excellent food as ever - shame about the ribs running out but everyone happy. service faultless as it always is there - best pub in Kennington
Great food, their pies are a specialty, try them. Friendly service, good attention to drink refills. Good sized portions. great comedy upstairs. A great night out!
I love The Tommyfield...great food, great ambiance. They consistently have fresh, delicious meat pies. The only complaint was that they burned the halloumi...but I still love the place.
We love the tommyfield and are regular customers. Fab food and drink, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. A lovely place to have on our doorstep.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, good service. Good number of veggie options, on the pricey side but well worth it. Nice place to take visitors/parents/for a date!
The Tommyfield is a great place with a relaxed, fun atmosphere. The pies are amazing (try the steak and ale) and the Nutella gnocchi are totally worth it
Nice homemade pies and great comedy club hosted by the fab regular MC. Nice interiors to boot but the sticky toffee pudding needs a little more TLC!
A pleasant and relaxed dining experience on a Sunday afternoon. Food was tasty, and I would heartily recommend the Camembert and Terrine starter. A few small tweaks on presentation for the food would have lifted the overall experience.
Was more of a walkabout bar than a gastro pub. So raucous you had to shout your order at the bar staff. most tables were groups of lads drinking shouting and cheering. A huge flat screen TV in the centre of the bar gave it a very downmarket vibe. We arrived early and to their credit they kicked some drinkers off a table and laid it up for us. We sat there for 20 - 30 mins shouting at each other to be heard, not even given a menu to look at. So we left and went to a really nice Chinese restaurant just down the road. Don't get me wrong if I was out with the lads for a few to many beers and a gourmet bar snack I would consider this venue. But it's not for a night out with the wife. The staff all looked harried and stressed as if struggling to cope which I don't like as it makes feel as if I'm part of the problem.
Great service, staff were very friendly and attentive, but the food was mediocre. They have a pub quiz which was fun too. Think I'd only return for a drink next time.
Nice restaurant, friendly staff & good service & the food & beer was of a good standard, enough variety to suit all. Would certainly visit again. Martin
Well looked after, very friendly staff very nice food.will defiantly go again when in the area, on this occasion for the cricket, the 50% voucher was a nice touch
Food was good, if a little cold and the service a little chaotic. they had been overwhelmed, by the overflow from the Cricket at the Oval. We will go back though
The food was really nice and the service was great. We were also there to watch the comedy which was brilliant. All round, a good night
Great atmosphere with a good selection of draft pale ales. Great to watch football without being too crowded. Also offer a good selection of food on the menu
Lovely food. in a lovely proper pub atmosphere. would recommend for a catch up with friends. I needed somewhere in that area and it came highly recommended on other sites.
Great food - good beer - attentive service in a friendly environment every time I come here. Well worth a visit and I enjoy staying here too!
Perfect as always. Relaxed, friendly and accommodating especially if you have kids. Well priced and consistently good. The Tommyfield is always a no-brainer for Sunday lunch!
Simple menu, cooked to a very high standard. The burgers and gourmet pies were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We would certainly go back.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Warm welcome, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Good beer & wine selection. Wide choice of food for varying tastes. Cannot fault, would recommend & return.
The Tommy Field has the best pies which all four of us thoroughly enjoyed. it is always busy with a vibrant buzzy atmosphere and has great food and friendly service.
Lovely food, good service, great quiz and nice atmosphere. I've always liked the Tommyfield and its consistency makes it a must to come back to
The experience was not great at all and I will not be returning. The staff are pleasant and helpful but the food and atmosphere was dreadful. To be fair, there was a big sporting event on and so the pub was very busy and as a consequence very very loud with people shouting and singing. This clearly does not represent a normal night I'm guessing. It didnt make a pleasant evening though as you could barely hear yourself speak. The food was awful. The sour dough bread was hot, very very hot to the point where it couldnt be picked up. It seemed an odd way to present it, room temp yes, possibly warm but hot, hot! No. The duck appeared over cooked - the skin should've been crispy and was limp and very greasy. It was warm as against hot. It was served with a couple of sides, the portion of mash was very small. The pork belly appeared to have been reheated - it wasn't great. The fat was not crispy and so couldnt be eaten it was simply chewy with no flavour. It was served with a very small portion of mash and limp, over cooked cabbage, traditional of course but not flavoursome at all. We were offered free dessert but even this was not hot - clearly it'd been heated in a microwave and so one part of it was warm whilst the other cold. Not nice at all. I wont be returning to be honest which is a shame as it's local. There are however a number of other restaurants and a gastro pub opposite which have provided a better level of service and quality for similar money.
Good choice on the food and drinks menus. Nice cocktails. Food was pretty good. Bit of a wait for service as the pub got busier but not too bad.
Always a good experience at Tommyfield. The Chateaubriand was excellent, as always. This is the third time I've had it. I highly recommend it, if you're having a nice dinner for 2. I'll be back soon.
The food, the service, the setting....everything was fabulous and I would definitely recommend to others. A bit off the beaten path but well worth it.
Ok food not great atmosphere. Had high hopes but a bit disappointed. Somewhere between a restaurant and gastro pub but not quite getting the balance right.
Fantastic restaurant, good food great staff. Order was messed up slightly but it was not a big issue, were very apologetic and cared more about it than we did. Top service
A warm and cosy pub with a lovely, chilled atmosphere. The steak was cooked perfectly - I would absolutely recommend the tommyfield for a great evening.
Great pub food. Nice atmosphere. Dog friendly. The hotel is also very nice. I can highly recommend it. We go almost every week. One of the best in Kennington
Really loved the place. Great food, service and atmosphere (Tuesday so quiz night which we hadn't realised but was entertaining). Even thought it had a good layout - great cocktails too!
It's always a great pub for a roast on a Sunday or the quiz on a Tuesday. Food is lovely and well worth coming back to time and time again
Kitchen closed earlier and they didn't ask if we wanted desert before closing. Service was good. We wished they didn't have the football on at the time. Food was very nice.
Great food helpful staff and a palatable Rioja for £17 a bottle. The lamb tagine was really tasty and the banoffee pie really fresh and substantial.
Very attentive service from when we arrived until when we left. The food was all very tasty. We had a slight mix up with one of the main dishes but the staff were very apologetic and offered us a replacement or complimentary dessert.
I love the Tommyfield, the staff there are always so nice. The food was great, I would definitely recommend the scotch egg. It's a nice neighbourhood pub.
Great time again. Great quiz and decent food. Recommend to all. Was pretty busy though so you need to book in advance. Also play football and other sports great viewings space
The Tommyfield is one of the best pubs in the Kennington area. It has delicious food with an incredible atmosphere. It is definitely somewhere you will go back to again and again.
Have eaten here several times and enjoyed good food and service on all occasions. Can also highly recommend the comedy evenings they run from time to time - very reasonable and a fun way to spend an evening.
Sadly the food didn't arrive hot but the waiter was very accommodating and returned it to the kitchen. Good atmosphere, a slight shame the food wasn't totally delicious.
