A lovely pub and excellent food with a very nice atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
We came to town to visit Alton Towers so don’t know the area well. We where recommended to visit The Tavern and we weren’t disappointed at all. The staff where so friendly and professional. The atmosphere wasn’t great and the food was amazing. Cooked to perfection. If we where ever in the area again we would definitely visit again.
Great meal with friends. We love The Tavern. Food is good and staff friendly. Sunday lunch is bang on.
Fabulous as always, very tastey & appropriate sized portions offered.
Great food - especially the homemade steak and ale pie. Served very well, a very nice evening mesl!
Wonderful food, warm and welcoming venue and great atmosphere. You cannot beat The Tavern!
Lovely food and service. We had a very nice time.
Enjoyed our meal, service was very good. We were a little squashed into a corner by the door when other tables were free and stayed free. I had some equipment behind me and my chair so had to squeeze in, plus a picture on the wall that I kept catching with my shoulder. Just a bit more room would have made this more comfortable.
One guy doing everything. Empty bottles and plate on our table the whole evening. Chips prawns fish all dripping in grease and over cooked. Really bad. Nobody bothered asking how our food was.
Fabulous evening as ever! Food was superb and really friendly service. Highly recommend 😊
Quality food, beer and service couldn’t ask for anymore. Thanks
Unfortunately they ran out of pizza which was what one of our party wanted. Replacement food was good
Lovely quaint village pub with good honest food and ale
One of the best carveries around. Delicious beef and lovely friendly service.
Unfortunate that it was cash only, due to phone problems. But starter and main courses were delicious. Worth the inconvenience of cash only will go back definitely.
Good food and friendly service. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Excellent food, excellent service. The Tavern is a lovely local, traditional pub.
Food was fantastic. A busy country pub, service was a little slow but nothing to complain about. We will definitely return
As always staff very good....we had a lovely time....thank you
Great pub, had a lovely Sunday lunch even my 2 year old enjoyed it
We waited an hour and 10 minutes for our food We were told it was because they had a lot of takeaway orders that had clearly been prioritised then when we complained they told us we had ordered half an hour after we actually did !
Great pizzas! Lovely atmosphere, we will definitely come again soon
Amazingly Great food but slow service. Took over an hour for mains to arrive
Great food despite restaurant being full with a big party still got prompt service great meal and really great staff
Food as always was spot on , well done the Tavern team. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere.
Lovely Sunday carvery. Great pub atmosphere. Good value for money.
Very enjoyable we will certainly be dining again in the very near future, atmosphere great, good value, great service, food was lovely and beautiful coffee to finish it off.Thankyou,we don’t often eat out but will be eating at the Tavern again.
Great food and nice atmosphere. Been here for dinner and Sunday lunch lots of times and it never fails to deliver. Will be back again 👍🏻
Fantastic meal great service as ever. Staff amazing with all the children and so helpful. Great night celebrating daughters 12th birthday. Far more relaxing at the tavern
Very nice and welcoming staff, very attentive but not too much either whilst seated at table. Great menu and food, 100% go again and strongly recommend too.
I'm coeliac and I've dined at The Tavern a couple of times previously and I would highly recommend it. The food is always beautiful and the staff are very welcoming and helpful.
Great atmosphere. Staff pleasant. Maybe leave abit more time between starter and main course. But other than that Food was great and lots of it.Defo go back.
Super service, great food well worth a visit. Had the Sunday carvery which had two choices of meat. Plenty of vegetables, with sauces and gravy.
Best carvery we’ve ever had anywhere.Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Will definitely be visiting again, many times I imagine. We came here for lunch a few weeks ago and the food was fabulous and a great menu.
It was a very cold evening. Perhaps the fire in the lounge area could have been on. Food was very good and everyone very amenable.
A lovely friendly restaurant where the staff are efficient and the food is outstanding. Good choice on the menu too. Have also tried the Sunday carvery and this is also very good home cooked food with decent sized portion of meat!
Booked in for 1.30, finally sat at the table at 2.15 not good. There were people who came after us and sat down first again not good and very annoying. I think they need to look at their system as I don’t believe it works very well and can be very annoying if you’re waiting too long. The beef was quite good but the vegetables were very average.the roast and mash tasted a bit old. The parsnips were very oily and not crisp and as tipically the Yorkshire puddings were soggy, no one who do carvers can doo good Yorkshires. The cabbage, carrots and gravy were nice as was the cheesecake. Generally the food was tipi all carvery nothing special, would probably not try again.
Excellent carvery. Very helpful and polite bar staff. Highly recommended. We will be visiting again without a doubt, could be every Sunday having eaten most of the carveries in the area over the past few months this being the best.
Excellent sunday lunch..beautiful tender beef..i had a voucher from a friend to use and although in large letters it said to present voucher on arrival before ordering i didnt! but the owner Chris still allowed this..thankyou very much..will defo be going again..highly recommend this place.
Great Food and service. Friends first visit they were very impressed with the food and service and said they would like to visit again next time they were in the area.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and good service , food limited on a Sunday night but still a nice choice, everyone had a great meal
Lovely Sunday lunch as always. Good atmosphere and service. Always looked after very well and will continue to return to this great village pub and restaurant
The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and chatty and were interested in where you came from etc. It was a really enjoyable evening in a lovely village inn.
Excellent food as always, however, this week there appeared to be a lot of confusion regarding the order in which tables visited to carvery so we were sat waiting whilst other tables did so even though we were seated way before. On previous visits this has not been a problem so not sure what was going wrong. Also music wasn’t appropriate for family Sunday lunch again not had this issue previously. Food amazing my favourite place especially Sunday lunch
There was a problem with the electrics at the restaurant so we ended up with pizzas. Disappointed, we had to wait 1 and a half hours too!
Food very tasty and presented well. I would recommend you book a table as busy. Waitress very busy felt like they could have done with an extra waitress/waiter as we had to wait a while to place our order. Staff friendly. We were all happy with our meals.
Can't fault the Sunday carver, food and service excellent. Seating was comfortable. We took some special friends, and they enjoyed our 'new local' pub, hope to come again soon.
Lovely meal! Glad to be able to enjoy Darren’s food nearer to home again. Had the hake and the steak pie, no room for pudding!
We booked online for 8pm we arrived at 7.50 and waited 10 minutes for a drink and then were seated. Food ordered at 8pm by memory as a large party had all the menus. Ordered a pizza and steak pie and chips. Food not served until 8.55. This length of time not acceptable and had we known food would be so long we would have gone elsewhere. Staff very friendly just not enough of them and food good. Sadly won’t be back.
We arrived at the tavern at the appointed time to find an empty restaurant. The barman simply stated that as a result of a problem in the kitchen no food was available. No valid explanation was offered other than it may or may not get sorted. We were not offered a cold food option and the barman seemed happy fo us to go elsewhere. We have recently moved to the next village and had walked a mile or so to try this pub for lunch. To say the least we were not impressed! No effort was made to contact us to advise us of the problem. We couldn't help thinking that just maybe, owing to low demand, they simply had not opened the reastaurant that day, however we will never know.
