Waited well over an hour for our food. When it eventually arrived it wasn’t great. Had to send the ‘fish’ back as it was nearly all batter, and difficult to cut. When a fresh meal came out, three of us had finished our food, so the lady had to eat alone I mentioned all of this when I paid, and the member of staff did apologise. Won’t be going there again. Not impressed at all

We were traveling home after quite a long journey so decided to stop and eat en route. I booked online and was able to get a table for the right time. There was a warm welcome as usual and the staff are friendly.

Had Sunday lunch. Portions very generous, beef melted in the mouth. Veggies were perfect. The staff are Always friendly and attentive .

Great looking pub and plenty of space between tables. BUT ordered our drinks, waitresses came back they didn’t have one. . Ordered our main meals, waitresses came back didn’t have one meal and ordered our desserts, you guessed it, the waitresses came back and they didn’t have one!!! Suggested a discount, didn’t get one!! So if you go, before reading menu I would ask if there was anything not availabl!!!

Shame about lots of things on the menu being unavailable, but the staff were very friendly and the environment comfortable and the food we had was plentiful and well presented.

We have been many times before and had a good roast dinner, today's was distinctly below average, no Onion relish with pate starter, no stuffing with roast dinner, stuffing was bought out after but seemed deep fried Just poor.

Lovely staff. Greeted on arrival and seated. Drinks order taken quickly. Food ordered and arrived in reasonable time. Only minor issue was food was a little cold and the belly pork should have been cooked slightly more as it was very fatty. The bill was reduced to compensate for our disappointment. Shame as the staff are excellent and couldn’t be more friendly and professional.

Nice service, food was not as good as usual. Many options unavailable for both food and wine.

A lot of the menu choices were unavailable. Staff member changed my drink order without asking.

Both me and my husband had the Roast with the trio of meats, the 3 cuts of meat were very generous, there was stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, parsnips, cabbage and gravy I was given 4 large roast potatoes which I could not eat, the food was delicious. I had the cheeseboard which had a great selection of cheeses and my husband had the mixed berry crumble with custard which he said was delicious. I would definitely go back.

Not told there was no ice before mixing a gin and tonic! Meal mediocre rather a lot of Bisto lumpy gravy. Pudding not freshly made , packet and tins??

The food was different to how it is normally served. The veg was on the plate instead of in a separate bowl and I could distinguish green beans but no id a what the other stuff was. It was 'okay' but nothing special for the price. Disappointed

This is so much more than a pub that does food. Great food, nice environment and atmosphere and not far from Exeter, what's not to like?

Lovely food and excellent service. The sea bass from the specials board was especially good.

Food as always was great. The service however left a lot to be desired. We had to ages for our meal, and they got one completely wrong, and the customer waited what seemed like ages to get the right meal.

Food was lovely especially liked the fact it was all local produce. Staff were pleasant and didn’t have to wait long for our food.

My friend and I had lunch at the Stables. Great welcome, attentive service, and we both enjoyed our food choices. The fish and chips were particularly good apparently and I especially liked the coffee. Well done to all involved.

The food took 30 mins only to arrive cold we sent it back, when it came it was still only like warm which was a shame . The only hot thing was the cauliflower cheese . Good size portions if you like cold food

Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Food was fine but I couldn't find any samphire in with my sea bass. I felt cold; has the heating been turned off.

The food and service was good. What stopped us in our tracks was the expensive bill...! This will teach us to think twice before going to The Stables.....

No one read my special request message, food was very cold and we had to wait ages after we ordered our food. When I told someone about my food they took mine away but left my partner so a meal for two became for one because by the time mine came back out my partner had finished his meal.

Food was beautiful and the service was great will be coming back again.

Food was nicely presented and nothing wrong with it other than just being a bit lack lustre and lacking flavour. We had a pizza that was really overloaded and the chunks of chicken were too big and the bacon fatty. A belly pork dish that mostly consisted of fat. A sandwich that just wasn’t very tasty and fish and chips with lovely fish and just general chips. As I said nothing wrong just a bit meh. Service was outstanding, lovely, friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble.
