The Smoke Pit - Northampton

Fab service, fab food. Went at lunchtime on a Saturday (12.30) and it was lovely and quiet, started to get busy as we left, 90 minutes later.

Great restaurant with a fantastic vibe. Food was delicious and the staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone no matter the occasion.

Fantastic, never disappoints! Would definitely recommend to anyone! Love the steaks and the sides, mum didn't like her broccoli because it was a little under cooked but I ate it any way!

We were seated and our orders taken. An hour later we hadn't been served and when asked it was clear our food had been forgotten.

Overall, really good night. Couldn't fault the food, if anything, portions too big. I had the Swordfish ... lush! Only gave a 4 due to the ambiance, very noisy, ended-up almost shouting over the table, maybe some material of some sort in the roof-space would solve it. Also, no decent coffee, just boring old Filter, unusual for a restaurant nowadays. Having said that, I'll be going back.

Booked at short notice for somewhere close to the theatre. Brilliant place. Great food, good portions, great beers and polite attentive staff. Innovative restaurant design. Mixture of American diner, retro and scrap heap challenge. Highly reccomend.

Fantastic meal and the service was second to none. This was our second visit and will definitely not be the last. I will definitely be recommending to all of my friends and family. Well done to Matt and the team .

This awsn't our first visit to the Smoke Pit, and definitely won't be our last. A great restaurant - the food is really excellent, and good service also.

Overbooked and an extended wait we decided not to stay and wait due to it being extremely noisy and echoed like a school canteen. At the prices that are charged i would expect a more refined ambience. I wont book again due to the noise levels.

Excellent food, decent serve and a nice place. Will be back again soon. There are not many places serve ring this type of food and the smoke pit does it well.

Good service, excellent food, great atmosphere. Only reason I didn't give it a 6 is because they sent out the wrong salad - but it was nice so I ate it. Bottomless soft drinks machine was pretty nifty too :) Would definitely recommend - good for big appetites and meat lovers. Will be back for sure.

Food was fine. Service was poor - no engagement, no enthusiasm - didn't make you feel particularly welcome. Borderline on whether we will make a return visit.

Great food and great service. Just a shame that some of the drinks are a little overpriced- more like London prices. Would recommend to anyone who is a true meat lover.

Amazing food, fab service. The cocktails were great. My boyfriend and I shared a burger platter, it was amazing. My mum had the best ribs I've ever tasted, and even my vegetarian sister found plenty of options (including the Mac and Cheese which was also delicious!)

Fantastic food, atmosphere and service as always! Great value for money, especially the St Louis ribs, best i've had anywhere. Smoke Pit's own BBQ sauce is also amazing!

Group of 4 adults and one child for evening dinner. Very busy but staff courteous and helpful. Good food, good atmosphere, but quite expensive. Would recommend for meat eaters!

This was my first visit, I was impressed by the layout and the overall ambiance of the place, the staff were very pleasant and I could not fault the food, I would recommend to my friends and will definately vist again.

Lovely food, a little too loud to talk and we were a bit rushed by staff to vacate our table once we had finished eating. However I do love it and keep going back

Delicious food and lots to choose from, generous portions, attentive staff who were not pushy. Desserts were surprisingly big as well - so probably best to share!

we went for a friends birthday and booked the table on line without any problems, once we arrived we had excellent service and the was excellent too , very good value for money

Food was simply stunning. Decor etc sets the tone perfectly for what they do. The service is a little slow and the food takes longer than you'd like. But when it arrives its simply brilliant.

Easy to book, The place is amazing so modern and industrial. Food was excellent. Service was good, but we were asked if we wanted dessert menu, we said yes, but it didn't arrive?! Will definitely return and take friends and family. Very child friendly.

The food was great! Nice variety of drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic. The portion sizes were also very good. Will be going back for sure

Another fantastic meal. Staff efficient and friendly. Made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door. We were early but our table was ready so were shown straight to it. Food was great.

Great atmosphere, the service was execellent and of course the food was well cooked and delicious. Try and leave enough room for the creme brûlée ice cream...wow!

Excellent all round experience. Food super. Service super. BUT drinks too pricey and the long island iced tea had the incorrect ingredients but otherwise all good.

Great menu with lots of tasty food and drinks to choose from. Didn't manage a dessert as the main courses were massive. Will definitely return.

The only thing I can say is that it was ok, the food was nice and the people were nice. Wasn't blown away by the food but being a smoky bbq place I expected a bit more Smokey flavours instead of everything being drenched in sauce.

We had a fantastic time. The staff were brilliant, the venue was fab and the food gorgeous. Highly recommend the nachos for starters :D Portions are huge and the taste is fantastic. Will go back soon

We love the food here, first time trying puddings and I had a key lime pie and asked for vanilla ice cream rather than the raspberry sorbet it came with. It was delicious. Also had the free refill drinks which is a great idea too. I had the chicken ceasar salad and hubby had a platter. Always a winner

We were clearly not the only ones who thought this would be a perfect Father's Day treat. Really good vibe and oodles of yummy food. My son called it blinner (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)! Interesting urinals, so I am told, which always creates excitement ... boys will be boys!

First time visit to the Smoke Pit, and overall an enjoyable experience. The BBq food was well presented and tasted delicious, only negatives where all the side dishes grated carrot, pineapple, gherkins etc had all been either pickled or doused in vinegar. Which no one liked (appreciate that this could be personal preference, but considering all five of us didn't like it, I am going to say a heads up would have been nice). The biggest let down was the staff, although friendly and polite. It certainly didn't appear that any of them had ever worked in a restaurant before, they where keen enough to take the main order. But there was no explanation offered about how things worked, did we want sauce of certain things, what flavour smoke was being used, or anything. There was no come back to ask if we where ok, or how our food was, would we like anymore drinks. Again no one was rude, but we had to ask for our bill twice. And even then it took 30 minutes to get it. Considering this is the only bbq restaurant in Northampton, with some basic staff training it could be great.

Great service despite being very busy. Great choices on the menu. Some dishes slightly over priced. Great choice of cocktails too! We were sat next to the drinks refill machine which was irritating. Food tasted real good- we will definitely go back and hope we sit somewhere different!!

Straight forward menu, friendly and efficient staff, big portion sizes, not too expensive. The best grated carrot you'll ever taste. All in all a nice place to have dinner.

Brilliant meal. Great place for kids and super service. Menu was varied and food delicious. Big portions!!!! Especially milkshakes!!!! We will definately be back and would recommend

This was a fabulous experience. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere was chilled but also felt a good vibe in there. Staff were fabulous and polite. Cannot rate this high enough. Best meal we have had in ages. Would reccomend this place to anyone.
