The only reason that I did not give a 6 is that seedless buns are no longer offered. My son has a significant allergy to sesame seeds and the only alternative bun was a tiny gluten free one which was served separately and was way too small to fit his chicken burger in and unfortunately was completely tasteless and so was left uneaten. Such a shame as it was his 9th birthday treat and having eaten here before (when buns were seedless) we thought he would be catered for. Surely it is not too difficult to keep a small supply of seedless buns in the freezer for allergy sufferers?

The concept of the restaurant is good and interior design is Good, though a little dingy. The food was mediocre. We had a house platter and a rack of ribs, and most of the elements tasted the same as each other. The price was extortionate for the quality, particularly as you don't even get your drink served for you and you eat off of metal trays. We had two soft drinks and two main meals at £50. For this price you can have VERY good food in lovely settings just down the road (example: the Church). Due to the price I will not be going back and cannot recommend.

Very helpful and attentive staff and made to feel welcome. Food as always was excellent from an extensive menu that provides choice accompanied by a good selection of cocktails and beers.

First time I’d been.The food was what I’d hoped for,amazing.Huge portions,took at least half of mine home in a doggy bag. Reasonable prices,great food,great service great atmosphere. Will definitely return

Always excellent food and service. Anything cooked in the smoker is amazing and the grill is just as good. Cocktails, beer and bourbon and highly recommend the peanut butter milkshake

Overall experience was good, service was a bit pushy but all staff were still friendly and polite. Food was also great and the drinks match

3rd visit and it’s still as good as the first visit. Great food, good atmosphere and very friendly staff. Only slight fault this time was music seemed a little louder than normal

Can't complain at the food. However the service for drinks was slow as was the check backs. If it was a little better managed would be a great restaurant.

Excellent service and food as always. We are always made to feel comfortable and welcome. A couple of our party were running late and they were good enough to move out time fifteen minutes later.

My partner and I ordered the sharing platter for two, so much food so make sure you have a good appetite but everything is amazing! Meat is delicious and service is excellent, pleasant staff on the ball, no long waits.

Servers were delightful! Food was delicious! Only problem was the portions were huge but I wouldn't really call that a problem!! Was a wonderful night and my partner enjoyed his birthday meal!

Loved this place since it opened, and the menu has just improved over time. It's not posh - but it's not supposed to be. Also - Coronarita is my favourite cocktail of all time.

Had a really fantastic meal and service too.the food was first class and the st louis ribs are to die for,so much flavour.we will definitely be returning again in the near future.

Amazing food and lovely atmosphere. Cocktails were great too. Only downside was we were served our food very quickly so felt slightly rushed but dessert was fantastic too.

Visited again last night for a birthday meal. Fantastic, friendly service as usual and the food was absolutely delicious... I can not fault this place and it remains one of my firm favourites!!

Great menu, fantastic food and drinks and brilliant service. Would definitely recommend to everyone. The platters are great for sharing and you will definitely leave feeling full.

Nice evening out at the smoke pit, food was fine, menu doesn't seem to change very often and not many dishes get changed when it does which is a shame

Really good restaurant, nice friendly staff and good decor. Food was good too, and there's a car park not too far away either - so only a short walk into town to reach it. Would definitely go again.

Staff lovely but as it was our first visit, it would have been nice if they ran through menu. We did not like cold sauce on chicken wings, would have been better hot.

The food and service were excellent. I wanted the superfood salad but it had chicken and they changed it for halloumi cheese which was great as I'm veggie. Been here several times never disappoints.

The food was excellent and the service was too. Nothing to complain about. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and there were a lot of full tables. Now there are lots of full customers. Shouldn't have had a sweet but couldn't resist. Recommend the salted caramel cookie!!

Having been recommended by my granddaughter, I was unsure that The Smoke Pit would be to our taste, but we were soon put at ease by the knowledgable waitress. We had pulled pork and brisket. The lightly pickled vegetable and the different types of fries were excellent. Portions of meat were huge and beat us all. Our only gripe would be that the sauces on both pulled meats were over powerful so that it was difficult to taste what meat it was. Good local beers, but a bit lacking on choice of wine. Sweets were again on the large size but great to eat and nicely presented. The place was nearly full on a Thursday night and the large open room was getting very noisy when we left about nine.

Great, friendly service & very tasty food. Portion sizes are generous & they cater very well for food allergies - they even gave us a box for our leftovers! Brilliant!!

Starters were lovely. Sauces for mains were very sickly. Chairs aren't particularly comfy but the environment was beautifully clean. Drinks were good value for money.

Good food as always. Good variety on menu. Service is good but a little slow sometimes. Would be good to have the option of upgrading the included minor side to a major as I would like to try some of them but often they would be more food than needed with the included minors.

Great food, great atmosphere, ok customer service. We ate early evening and I would highly recommend for a family as the children's menu is really good quality food.

This is the second time I have been to the smoke pit and yet again the service was fantastic with a lovely atmosphere. Absolutely gorgeous food, I will definitely be back again!

Really delicious food as always. Service was a little slower than expected bearing in mind there were only 4 tables in (it was 3pm) but was worth waiting for. I'm in a food coma now!
