The Smoke Pit - Northampton

The food was good however the service was not. On a Wednesday evening we were in the restaurant for an hour before food arrived and when it did, on our table of 4, one order was totally wrong... It took 15 mins to resolve by which time the others had almost finished. The one upside is that they dropped that meal off the bill. Don't dine here if you're in a hurry... 2 weeks ago on a Saturday evening our friends waited 2 hours and walked out as no food arrived.

The smoke pit was amazing, the atmosphere was right up our street. We loved the food couldn't fault it. Overall it was an awesome experience and will definitely be going back.

Excellent as usual! The food was excellent, it's always packed full of flavour. The burgers in particular are excellent as they're really meaty. Service was very good too, it's always friendly and welcoming.

Food choice was broad, the food creates impact when it is put down in front of you. The food tastes even better than it looks.

Easy to reserve a table online. Ordered a set of drinks which came very quickly. Then ordered food., two burgers and a fillet steak. All came very quickly, wedges came separately in a vintage cup. All food was cooked to perfection, my daughter enjoyed her 'black and blue burger' the blue cheese being a fantastic compliment to the meat. My son loved his fillet steak.A busy bustling atmosphere on a Sunday evening. We had a great birthday meal and would certainly go again.

Food pretty good and vast portion sizes. Great atmosphere. Had table for 4 and neither couple could finish their platter for two. Overall would go again

Booked this restaurant after hearing from several friends how good it was. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, you won't be hungry, and the service was second to none!

Expensive, lacking in taste, for someone who has lived in the USA this is very unreal. Wings sauce is just Tabasco mix, rib steak has no taste was charred on one side, pulled pork - Swartz packet mix produces better results. Will not return. Family of 4, kids 18 and 13.

First visit to the smoke pit, really nice to go somewhere different to eat. Food was really nice and presentation was different. Will visit again just wish there were more of these around.

The waiter wasn't very attentive, the food was mostly fat and they had run out of the main ingredients for the cocktails. When we complained to the waiter he shrugged and said 'oh right'!

Very good atmosphere and service. Food was delicious but a little heavy on the salt . The peanut butter milkshake specials went down very well !!

The server seemed uninterested in greeting us...also showed us to table but wasn't sure where we were actually meant to sit, despite having a reservation. The server then took a long time to come over and take our food and drink orders. Also my partner complained about how dirty the bathrooms were. The food was good and arrived promptly.

A relaxed, fun but busy restaurant, with a great atmosphere. The food was a carnivore's heaven!! So much meat, and so tasty!! It's not the cheapest place you can go, but worth every penny, it is impossible to come out of here hungry! Well done team!

Really great food and huge portions. The ribs and wings could easily have served 2! Good service if a little slow at times but we weren't in a rush so it didn't spoil the experience.

Really good food, ordered the platter for 2 and the amount of food amazing! It was a relaxed atmosphere and an enjoyable evening. I would happily go back and take the hubby I think he'd love it too!

Very good, great food and beer would recommend to everyone, the ox cheek was especially good something different in Northampton and well recived by the town folk.

Great food with a nice ambience. I can highly recommend the excellent house beers. The service was slightly slow, but otherwise a great evening had by all.

Good service and friendly helpful staff. Food on the whole was good but a little overpriced for what it was. The pulled chicken salad was disappointing as seemed just like regular chicken and a bit skimpy on the sauce but again no problem when asked for more.

Excellent food, restaurant floor could have been a lot cleaner as well as the males toilets, toilet floor was very wet and had paper towels all over it..food and service was excellent

Good service, amazing food, a tad pricey but worth the money; had the smoke pit platter for 2 and it was absolutely delicious, also loved the soft drink machine with all the different choices & flavours; different and fun!

On entering the smoke pit at 7.15pm it seemed chilling. But by 8.pm it was packed and much warmer.. food was excellent. . The service was so friendly and we were offered to take a doggie bag home. . The brisket on the platter for one was out of this world delicious..

A hidden gem found on a one night trip to Northampton absolutely perfect from the staff, decor and the out of this world food 5 stars all the way!! I'm even tempted to drive back even if it does take 2 hours.

Great food and atmosphere. Easy to park nearby as well. Took my two boys (10 and 13) and they loved it. Glad they could provide a doggy bag as the portions are huge!

Freezing cold place. Food over cooked rubbery, one dish burnt balack and covered over in cheese. Rude foreign lady in charge. wouldn't recommend or return.

Our first visit to the Smoke Pit, and it won't be our last. The food was fantastic. We all ordered cow, pig chicken burgers ... delicious! We loved the quirky decor and relaxed atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive without being over bearing. We can't wait for our next visit.

Staff was to busy chatting to other members of staff sorting out there social life's. But the food was ok not sure it was worth coming from Birmingham for ???

Excellent food, great atmosphere! The majority of the staff were attentive and polite, service was only slow at the end by a waitress after approaching her for the bill, however a waiter stepped in and we were able to settle up, between which the same waitress came back and asked if we wanted desserts... Her attention to detail could have been better. Good value for money, would definitely return.

Everything was absolutely fantastic from the staff down to the food! Buzzing to go again :) we both loved it Brilliant for everyone at any age :)

Very good atmosphere food and service. Staff very friendly and good with children. Had one of the specials beverage steam. Husband thought set meal he had had for a long time.

having read many reviews was expecting something better had the smoke pit platter for two meat was cooked ok over sweet far to expensive wouldn't go out my way to return here

Service ok, food passable, not a bad place for groups or youngsters, a bit too rough around the edges and expensive for what you get.

Food on my house platter was dry considering it's meant to be low and slow and succulent. My wife's salt beef burger was also dry and the salt beef was just like packet pastrami out of the supermarket.

Atmosphere was great, food & service great. Only negative feedback was the long wait for all food courses! Would visit again and recommend your restaurant.

Nice place with great food a bit expensive but it worth it. Family friendly so that was a big plus for us going out for a late dinner with a little one.
