Service a little slow but it was very busy. Food was excellent especially the pies. A bonus that it was dog friendly.

Great food especially the gluten free offering, would have given top rating had it been for the fact we were seated next to a table with two dogs that yapped, dogs should not be in any restaurant, as much as we liked it we will think hard before coming again for that reason

Delicious pie, could have done with more mash potato/ veg. Also no vegetarian / vegan desert except sorbet, in the winter one would like a hot desert.

We visited the Royal Oak as a party of of four on Saturday 18th Nov. The welcome we received was warm and friendly, ambiance was good, log fire, candles on the table etc. On booking, I mentioned one of our party had a severe allergy. On arrival we were asked about this and they had gone to the trouble of checking all the ingredients on their menu. We all ordered from the pie menu and boy we weren't disappointed! The pies are all home made using locally sourced ingredients and they are absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Proper pies, none of this puff pastry lid business, they melted in the mouth, so tasty. The service was great and we can definitely recommend this place 100%. Can't wait to go back next time we are in Burford. Well done to all at the Royal Oak.

Lovely warm room with log burner for our reserved table. Attentive & knowledgeable staff for bar & menu queries. Food order delivered correctly. My steak & ale pie was excellent, stuffed full of steak with a tasty gravy. My wife had the bartered haddock & chips both of which she said were up there with the best she’s ever had. We will return 😀

We came here after reading about their award winning pies... And it was worth it!! My partner and I had the local game and red wine pies with chips and vegetables - perfection!! It is worth coming to Buford just for the pies! Truly the best pies we've ever eaten.
